Welcome to UCCS' virtual tour! UCCS offers benefits and experiences that go beyond your degree. With a small campus community feel, and big college opportunities, you get the best of both worlds; not to mention the incredible views from anywhere on campus. Main Hall was built in 1902 as a tuberculosis sanatorium and patients from all over the world came due to the dry air and sunshine. It is our oldest building on campus, housing Academic Advisors and Disabilities Services. Today, it stands as a great reminder of our university's history, while the rest of the campus, which is new, modern, and bright, reminds us that UCCS is always investing in students. Student Life

The Lower University Center is part of the central hub on campus for student community and organizations. Here is the Student Life Office, where clubs and the Student Government Association organize and have activities. You can also find MOSAIC, the Multicultural Office for Student Access, Inclusiveness, and Community, the LGBT+ Resource Center, The Scribe, UCCS's student newspaper, and Clyde's, our on campus sit down restaurant. The UC Info desk can answer any questions, and the bookstore is where you grab your required texts, UCCS gear, or a quick snack.

College of Business

Dwire Hall is home to our College of Business and the department of Languages and Cultures. The UCCS College of Business is AACSB accredited, meaning it passes high standard qualifications for courses. Only thirty percent of business schools in the nation have it, and only five percent in the world, giving students a valuable education not everyone can claim. Professors deliver principle-based education and reinforce the value of ethical business and personal conduct in association with the Daniels Fund Ethics Initiative program. Dwire Hall also houses the Language Excel Center for language tutoring and conversation tables.

Aerospace/Mechanical Engineering, Biology & Physics

The Osborne Center for Science and Engineering is home to the departments of Mechanical Engineering, Physics, and Biology. It is the largest academic building on campus with only six classrooms since most of the space is dedicated to instructional and research labs. Some examples include the machine shop, the mechanical engineering's rapid prototyping shop, the mammalogy lab, the liquid crystal lab, and the scanning electron microscope. We let students use equipment they'd use in a real lab so they have the skills necessary to propel their careers well beyond college.

Hybl Sports Medicine and Performance Center

The Hybl Sports Medicine and Performance Center is a state-of-the-art facility designed to encourage "collisions" or interactions between clinicians, athletes, students, and professors. Through the partnership with Centura Health, this facility is the first of its kind, bringing the academics and clinical piece of Sports Medicine under one roof, and allowing students to take innovative programs in growing fields. Students also have the opportunity to do research side by side with our professors allowing them a more hands-on experience. UCCS's location is a perfect fit for this facility due to Colorado's high altitude, nearby military bases, and having the Olympic Committee headquarters right here in Colorado Springs!

Housing

At UCCS, all of our housing is suite-style and you share a bathroom with your suitemates only. With 2 housing villages to choose from, you can pick Summit Village if you want a 5-minute walk to your classes, or Alpine Village for close access to covered parking and scenic dining at the Roaring Fork dining hall. In addition to the residence halls for first year students, we have upperclass student apartments if you want to stay on campus after your first year. Living on campus is a great way to meet other students, attend student life events, and have access to the services we offer students.

Roaring Fork Dining Hall

Love eating? As a first year student living on campus, you get an unlimited meal plan included with your room and board. That means you can eat at either one of our dining halls as many times as you'd like. Both serve food buffet style, so that you can choose what you want to eat from a wide variety of different options and also have continuous dining all day! They also offer Vegan/Vegetarian options and the chefs do an excellent job of making accommodations for students with dietary needs.

Recreation and Wellness Center

The Gallogly Recreation and Wellness Center is the first rec center in the nation to incorporate the 5 elements of wellness: Health, Mental Health, Nutrition, Recreation, and Wellness Promotion, all in one place. This means you can reach a new max squat, see a physician, learn to cook (or kickbox), and go down a waterslide, all under the same roof. Recreation at UCCS includes expeditions into the great outdoors through our Student Outdoor Learning Experience Center where you can go skydiving, snowboarding, or white water rafting, though maybe not all in the same day!

Ent Center for the Arts

At the Ent Center for the Arts, students can experience art daily in several performance spaces all under the same roof! From music to dance, theatre to sculpture, there are opportunities to see both professional and professional-caliber student-made artwork. Students can view painting and sculpture from visiting artists at our Gallery for Contemporary Art or attend a theatrical performance by TheatreWorks, our in-house professional theatre company, at the Dusty-Loo theatre for free! Students of any major can audition for the Theatre and Dance program's main stage season, or the Music program's Orchestra!

College of Nursing & Education

University Hall houses our College of Nursing and Health Science and the College of Education. Nursing students get hands-on practice in our Simulation and Assessment labs. The Simulation Learning Center has 3 realistic hospital patient rooms. You'll find hospital equipment available including a medication dispensary system, Intravenous pumps, oxygen, suction and many other devices used in patient care. We have 8 lifesize patient simulators including adult, pediatric, and newborn. All are anatomically correct and have pulse points, heart, lung and bowel sounds, and operating bodily functions. With each simulated patient encounter, students gain confidence and competence, preparing them for a successful nursing career.

Electrical Engineering & Computer Science

The Engineering and Applied Science Building is home to the departments for electrical engineering, computer science, and math, and has a wide array of unique labs. In the VAST Lab, we do research on facial recognition and machine learning. Our anechoic chamber is a two-story box, insulated from electromagnetic radiation and covered on the inside with foam spikes to eliminate echo, used to test communications equipment. Our Clean Rooms are used to design and manufacture electrical components. And our Math Excel center, where students can get free peer tutoring for their math classes, is also in this building.

El Pomar Plaza

The El Pomar Plaza sits along the main pedestrian spine at the crossroads of the library, Osborne Center, and the Engineering building. Aside from the spectacular views of Pikes Peak, the El Pomar Plaza also features Our 2-ton statue of Clyde the Mountain Lion, entirely carved out of Colorado White Marble.

Our Kramer Family Library's first floor is a collaborative learning space where students can work together, talk, and interact. The second floor has designated quiet study spaces for a more traditional studying atmosphere. If you are working on group projects or would like a more private area to get work done, we have group study rooms. You can also check out a variety of items from bike locks and wifi hot spots to a backpack with a state park pass, binoculars and a nature guide!

In the Upper University Center you can find one of our Sanatorium Grounds Coffee Shops and Cafe 65, a great dining option if you are crossing between classes through the UC. Right next to Cafe 65 is Berger Hall where events like Orientation, Movie Nights, Club Fairs, as well as dances take place!

Upper Plaza

Surrounded by Centennial Hall, the Upper University center and the Gallogly Event Center is the Upper Plaza. It is a comfortable place for students to relax, socialize with friends, and enjoy the beautiful Colorado weather. One unique feature of the upper plaza is our Sun-Brella, the black umbrella with solar panels on top, where you can sit at and take in the views while you charge your electronic devices. The Sun-Brellas across campus are a great example of the University's sustainability efforts.

College of Letters, Arts and Sciences

Columbine Hall, named after Colorado's state flower, is the home to UCCS's College of Letters, Arts, and Sciences. This includes English, Philosophy, and Visual Art, and sciences like Sociology and Psychology. On the third floor, the Communication and Writing Excel centers are right across from each other. For help on proof reading or essay formatting, go to the Writing Center; for mock interviews and tips for giving presentations, head over to the Communication Center. All of the Excel Centers provide their services for free! We also have a full production TV studio with one of the largest green screens in Southern Colorado!

Chemistry and Biochemistry

Centennial Hall is the home to Chemistry, Biochemistry, and Anthropology. Our teaching chemistry labs are capped at 25 students so you get more one-on-one attention to fuel your success. Both undergraduate and graduate students can do research side by side with professors in the research chemistry labs. As a student, you can be published while working with professors. Also Centennial houses the Science Excel Center for free tutoring for chemistry, biology, physics, and anatomy. Our largest lecture hall on campus with 298 seats is also here, but the average class size at UCCS is 28.

NCAA Division 2 Courts

The Gallogly Events Center is home to our NCAA Division II basketball and volleyball teams. This is where the teams practice and play their games, so you will not have to worry about them taking space in the rec center. Our two biggest events of the year are the Blackout and Whiteout nights. During these events, students can get a free t-shirt and free food before the game. All home sporting events are free for UCCS students to attend.

Connected by a sky bridge to Main Hall is Cragmor Hall. Originally built as a nursing home for patients from the tuberculosis sanatorium, Cragmor Hall is now home to the office of admissions, financial aid, and student employment. We have incredible mountain views. We are the only university in the world that offers Bachelor of Innovation degrees.
