With all first-year students and many upper-level students living in more than 12 residence halls, UBC Vancouver has one of the largest on-campus populations in North America. Living in residence at UBC is a truly vibrant and international experience. UBC's Vancouver campus offers several first-year-only residences which makes it easier to start making friends right away. Whether you are into academics, sports, music, or just hanging out, there is always something for you to do. There's a great sense of community in residence, with opportunities to participate in various competitions, charitable events, and even a musical! And if that's not your thing, don't worry - there are plenty of ways to create your own memories with your floormates.UBC also has award-winning dining halls in each residence. With a wide variety of healthy and tasty food options - including vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free choices - you'll always be well fed.

The UBC Aquatic Centre is an example of the university's world-class recreational facilities, and is one of the newest recreation buildings on the Vancouver campus. It offers two pools, a lazy river, diving boards, a 34-person hot tub, steam room and sauna, and more.There are plenty of other places for you to get active on campus, including the Student Recreation Centre and Activities and Recreation Centre (also known as ARC) . Among other facilities, you'll find the BirdCoop Fitness Centre here, which is the most affordable and complete workout location on campus, and UBC Recreation, which runs the largest university intramural program in Canada. These buildings also offer gym memberships, women-only fitness times, a climbing cave, a variety of fitness classes, and personal training for individuals of all fitness levels.If you are looking for competition, you can try out for or support the UBC Vancouver Thunderbirds: the varsity teams that represent the university in sports including soccer, hockey, golf, rugby, football, volleyball, and others.If you're looking for a more casual sporting experience, UBC Recreation operates numerous sports clubs and leagues for you to join - from field hockey to ultimate Frisbee to quidditch - as well as free drop-in sports. You can also take part in a wide variety of outdoor activities and instructional classes in martial arts, dance, and yoga. Some of the largest intramural events in North America also happen here on UBC's Vancouver campus, including Day of the Longboat and Storm the Wall, which each have more than three thousand five hundred student participants annually, and even more spectators. You'll never be bored on UBC's Vancouver campus. There are more than 350 clubs and course unions, which come in all varieties - academic, athletic, leisure, political, performance, social action, and more. If you can't find the club that fits your interests, you can start one of your own. You can learn more about a lot of these clubs at the UBC Life Building. Open to all UBC students, you'll find a vibrant space to study here, as well as work out, relax with friends, grab a bite to eat, and access student services and programs such as International Student Advising.

This is the Irving K. Barber Learning Centre, one of 13 research libraries on the Vancouver campus, which lets you access UBC's extensive collection of 7.9 million resources across 22 different research libraries. Like all libraries on UBC's Vancouver campus, the Irving K. Barber Learning Centre has computer workstations, rooms for group study, a help desk with friendly librarians, and lots of places for you to study quietly. You can also take advantage of the extensive academic and learning support across UBC Vancouver's libraries. One example in the Irving K. Barber Learning Centre is the Chapman Learning Commons, which is an excellent resource for free tutoring, peer-coaching on study skills, and assistance in writing your papers.

The Nest is a campus hub where you can eat, shop, socialize, and study. Over four floors, you'll find restaurants specializing in everything from sushi to tacos to cookies, as well as a grocery store, cellphone shop, optometrist, travel agency, and bank. The Nest also features unexpected gems like The Pit pub, an art gallery, and a climbing wall. Along its outer edges, there are a number of spaces for you to study alone or with your friends.

The Centre for Student Involvement and Careers will help you find your niche. When you first join UBC, the Centre can help you explore how to be a successful university learner through peer mentorship. The helpful staff can also match your passions and interests with co-curricular activities around campus and Vancouver. You can develop your job-searching skills by attending one of the many workshops offered at this location, like résumé clinics and mock-interview sessions. All campus groups are welcome to use the resources here, like poster-making supplies and video cameras.

UBC Collegia serve as a home base for students who commute to campus. These locations are designed to help you relax and socialize between classes or after school. They are bright, open spaces with lounge chairs, sofas, and fireplaces, and have full kitchen facilities for you to prepare your lunch, including an oven, microwaves, fridges, dishes, and cutlery. You can also use the Collegia to take a shower after your workout, or secure your things in a locker. If you want to study in your Collegia, you'll find secure Wi-Fi and plenty of outlets to charge your devices. When you're feeling more social, there are hubs where you can enjoy board games or cards, or watch a show on the big-screen TV.

Here in the Nitobe Memorial Garden you can find a place to relax, study, or meditate. This is just one of the many green spaces on campus that are accessible and free to all students. All outdoor spaces at UBC are Wi-Fi enabled, meaning you can always study outside. Some of the other green spaces around campus include the UBC Botanical Garden and Pacific Spirit Regional Park, and there are a number of beaches right on campus where you can access the Pacific Ocean.

The Beaty Biodiversity Museum is home to Canada's largest blue whale skeleton and holds over two million specimens in its collections. Many of UBC's professors are world-leading researchers in their fields, and as an undergraduate student, you'll have the unique opportunity to work with them and participate in this incredible research - often at breathtaking locations like these. There are many other hands-on research spaces on campus, including the UBC Farm and TRIUMF, which is Canada's National Laboratory for Particle and Nuclear Physics. Whether you want to study anatomy or anthropology, food and nutrition, or particle acceleration, there's plenty of research opportunities for you to explore.

This is the First Nations Longhouse, which UBC and the Musqueam community collaboratively built to support Indigenous students. In this building you'll find the First Nations House of Learning, which offers weekly activities, meals, programs, and events for Indigenous students to come together. The First Nations Longhouse also includes the X̱wi7x̱wa (whei-wha) library, which has an amazing collection of First Nations literature, and the Indigenous Students' Collegium, where you can connect with an Indigenous elder or UBC professor, make lunch or relax between classes, or take part in cultural practices like talking circles.

The Forest Sciences Centre is home to the UBC's Forestry faculty. One of the many faculties and schools on campus that feature world-class facilities, the Forest Sciences Centre building has 11 classrooms, two lecture theatres, teaching laboratories, office spaces, computer labs, and a cafeteria. Best of all, it offers a study space with tables and couches surrounded by greenery and lit by a skylight. Whichever faculty you're in, your class sizes can vary from 6 students to 400 students, but will generally become smaller as you specialize in your degree. More than 99 percent of our classes are taught by PhD professors, who create an accessible and dynamic learning environment. UBC professors use online discussion forums, group work, and hands-on projects to make it easy for you to participate. You can also visit your professor during office hours to learn about their research, and ask questions.

You may have questions about getting into UBC. The Welcome Centre, just like the name suggests, welcomes any questions you might have about programs, admissions, and finances. And UBC continues to make you feel welcomed once you've come to UBC. Every UBC Vancouver student is matched with an Enrolment Services Advisor, who is there for you throughout your entire degree. Enrolment Services Advisors provide personalized help on everything from course registration to tuition payments. In fact, the entirety of Brock Hall, where the Welcome Centre is located, is dedicated to student-support services and ensuring that UBC provides a supportive learning environment for you.
