At 107,000 square feet, this 24-million-dollar facility is home to UAH's student services. It also serves as a welcoming front door to campus, as it is the first thing that visitors and students see as they make their way into the main entrance of the university. This facility is home to the Office of Admissions, the Office of Financial Aid, the Registrar's Office, the Bursar's Office, the Graduate School, the Office of International Services, and Career Services, the Office of Pre-Professional Advising as well as the university's administrative offices. Overlooking our inviting greenway and with plenty of spaces for studying and socializing, the Student Services Building is essentially the hub of UAH's 505-acre campus.

Altenkirch Greenway

UAH's campus-spanning greenway is a pedestrian-friendly walkway whose divided sidewalks ensure that traffic flows smoothly - foot traffic, that is! Highlights include native vegetation, a water-efficient irrigation system, and large heirloom trees that have helped earn UAH its Tree Campus USA designation. LED lights with motion sensors and timers are designed to maximize security, while ample seating, a shaded pavilion, and bike racks increase its utility. The result? A silver certification in Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, and a practical, picturesque pathway across campus.

Olin B. King Technology Hall

Named for Olin B. King, a Huntsville pioneer in electronic contract manufacturing, Tech Hall houses the Departments of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Industrial and Systems Engineering. The third floor is home to the Computer Science department and Information Technology and Systems Center. In addition to its classrooms, Tech Hall also features a number of high-tech labs that allow students and professors to collaborate on cutting-edge engineering and science research, as well as a machine shop where students can apply the theories and techniques learned in the classroom to the design and manufacture of real-world projects. Also located here is Blue's Tech Hall, the perfect place to grab a sandwich or sushi between classes.

Shelby Center for Science and Technology

Named after U.S. Senator Richard Shelby, this four-story building is a hub for our science and math students and often serves as the site of science-related community outreach events like the Science Olympiad and Girls Science & Engineering Day. The Shelby Center's 207,600 square feet include classrooms and high-tech lab space in addition to the College of Science's tutoring center, a fourth-floor greenhouse, and several student-run organizations, including the Biology Society and the Green Club. The building faces UAH's duck pond, where you can sometimes catch the concrete canoe team practicing, and is located directly across the street from UAH's renowned National Space Science and Technology Center.

Charger Union

Connecting the northern and southern halves of campus, this 101,000-square-foot state-of-the-art student center serves as a gateway and gathering place for the UAH community. In addition to Dunkin' Donuts, World of Wings, and Mein Bowl, its two airy, light-filled stories are home to numerous meeting rooms and study spaces, a gaming and e-gaming lounge, a 332-seat auditorium, the on-campus bookstore, the Student Government Association, the Association for Campus Entertainment, and the university's Student Life offices. The exterior of the CU also serves as an outdoor theatre, while its enclosed glass bridge overlooks the campus greenway.

Charger Village

Overlooking UAH's scenic and pedestrian-friendly greenway, Charger Village residence hall features a recent renovation, which added 400 new beds to UAH's growing residential community. Charger Village now houses over 700 UAH students. Like our other residence halls, it features keycard entry, front-desk check-in, around-the-clock staffing, suite-style living, full kitchen and laundry facilities, and a courtyard for al fresco dining and lounging. Its first floor is home to Papa John's Pizza, Burrito Bowl, and Chick-Fil-A, as well as Blue's Convenience Store featuring Boar's Head Deli. The building is also adjacent to UAH's Police Department, a fully empowered state law enforcement agency, and the university's Intermodal Parking Facility.

University Fitness Center

An all-inclusive health and fitness center, the UFC houses a weight room, an indoor track, an indoor pool with swimming lanes, men's and women's locker rooms, and a gymnasium with three basketball courts. Because of its size, the UFC's gymnasium is occasionally used to host both campus and community events, like the UAH Career Fair and Co-Op Kickoff. Group fitness and aquatics classes are also offered and include Zumba, yoga, spin, barre, tae kwon do, deep-water workout, and aqua boot camp. Students who are enrolled full time receive membership at no additional cost, while those who are part time are charged a discounted membership rate.

Nursing Building

The College of Nursing offers degree programs at all academic levels: bachelor's, master's, and doctoral. Its four-story building recently underwent a 17-million-dollar renovation and expansion that doubled its square footage. Now, its 88,000 square feet comprise classrooms and study spaces, a 250-seat auditorium, and a 10,615-square-foot Learning and Technology Resource Center. This state-of-the-art simulation hospital features a 16-bed hospital lab, a 16-table assessment room, five high-fidelity simulation laboratories, an obstetric/pediatric four-bed laboratory, an IV practice room, two debriefing rooms, and four telehealth robots, ensuring that our nursing students gain the hands-on, high-tech clinical experience they'll need to become leaders in the healthcare field.

Salmon Library

The M. Louis Salmon Library is home to individual and group study spaces, Charger Brew serving Starbucks, and six computer labs with a combined total of more than 250 PCs and Macs. Its extensive resources include more than a million printed publications and access to numerous online databases, as well as reference services, instruction sessions, charging stations, and printing. Moreover, its archives and special collections on NASA's Apollo program, the lunar rover, and the Saturn V have helped cement Huntsville's reputation as the Rocket City. Also located in the library is UAH's Student Success Center, which offers academic coaching, exploratory advising, tutoring and writing assistance, and Peer-Assisted Study Sessions.

Business Administration Building (College of Business)

Unsurprisingly, this building is home to the College of Business, one of only 25% of business schools in the U.S. and 5% in world accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International. More than half of the College's students participate in internships and co-ops with employers such as Mercedes, Disney, and SpaceX, while others complement their classroom learning by joining student organizations like UAH's Capital Management Group, whose members will have access to a brand new state-of-the-art Finance Lab. This lab coincides with a new finance curriculum that will give UAH students the opportunity to manage three investment funds worth approximately $1 million dollars. The newest addition to this building is the 45,000 square foot D.S. Davidson Invention to Innovation Center. The I2C combines three interconnected elements: shared workspace, co-working community and collaborative co-creation to facilitate start-ups and small businesses on campus and in Huntsville.

Wilson Hall

Wilson Hall is famous on the campus of UAH! In 1987, a student discovered the first high-temperature superconducting material in a Wilson Hall laboratory, changing the way electricity is transmitted and used worldwide. Today the building houses UAH's Student Health Center and Faculty/Staff Clinic. The Department of Art, Art History, & Design along with an art gallery, a lecture hall, a 125-seat auditorium and the College of Education's Kinesiology Lab. There, students conduct metabolic testing and other research pursuant to the Kinesiology Department's three-degree programs: Exercise Science, Physical Education and Sport & Fitness Management. Wilson Hall is also home to the Student/Faculty Health Center

Severe Weather Institute and Radar & Lightning Laboratory (SWIRLL)

SWIRLL is a core research facility dedicated to the study of severe and hazardous weather, radar meteorology, lightning meteorology, lightning physics, and air quality. Its infrastructure includes a research operations center with multiple workstations, a sounding preparation lab, a high bay, a third-floor enclosed observatory, and the ability to support ground-based remote sensing and onsite instrumentation development and maintenance. SWIRLL also operates a variety of mobile research platforms, like a lightning instrumentation vehicle, a mobile Doppler LIDAR and sounding system, and a rapidly deployable atmospheric profiling system. The facility is even designed to weather all the weather that Huntsville can experience - including tornados!

Conference Training Center (Charger Cafe)

The Conference Training Center is typically bustling with activity. Why? Food, of course! Inside, students can find the newly renovated Charger Cafe, an all-you-care-to-eat buffet-style dining facility complete with signature brands, Mindful meals and menu selections that include just about every item you can imagine; Sandella's Flatbread Cafe, featuring healthy salads, wraps, and flatbreads; and Charger Brew, which offers Starbucks coffee, smoothies, and pastries. The CTC also houses a 500-seat exhibit hall for both UAH and community events, while outside, students can often be found eating al fresco or playing a game of sand volleyball. The CTC is most recognizable, however, by the nearby UAH Monument, which students are free to paint again and again! The Conference Training center is also the home to the UAH Counseling Center

Morton Hall (College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences)

Morton Hall opened in 1960 and was the first academic building on campus. After a $30 million dollar renovation, Morton Hall now features new classroom spaces and offices for the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences. The original building has been remodeled to include technology-driven classrooms, collaborative seminar rooms, and research lab space.. The addition to the building adds 13 new classrooms, including a 124 seat lecture hall. Morton Hall is also home to the Black Box Theatre. The new black box theatre features a catwalk, control room, and green room, plus modular risers for different seating options. It will be home to innovative and technology-driven entertainment.

Central Campus Residence Hall

A co-ed residence hall for first-year students, CCH provides comfort and safety, with keycard entry, front-desk check-in, and around-the-clock staffing. Residents enjoy suite-style living, which means that each suite comes complete with Wi-Fi, cable access, and a kitchenette with a fridge and microwave, while each floor has its own study lounge. CCH's first floor also includes full kitchen and laundry facilities. The building itself is connected to UAH's Conference Training Center, making it easy to grab a bite to eat at its three dining venues.

Frank Franz Residence Hall (Honors College)

Frank Franz, a co-ed residence hall, is home to UAH's Honors College and houses its honors students. These students receive an elite college experience compatible with any major and enjoy additional advising, priority registration, a mentoring program, and special activities. Along with keycard entry, front-desk check-in, and around-the-clock staffing, FFH offers suite-style living, full kitchen and laundry facilities, a computer lab, and a courtyard with grills. Across the street is Morton Hall, where students in UAH's College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences can take classes in communication, political science, philosophy, history, theatre, sociology, psychology, English, and a variety of foreign languages.

Spragins Hall (UAH Athletics)

As home of UAH's Athletic Department, Spragins is the perfect place to cheer on our Chargers! The facility serves as the home court for our men's and women's basketball teams and our women's volleyball team, while the surrounding fields and tennis courts are used by our tennis, soccer, baseball, softball, lacrosse, cross country, and track and field teams. As for our ice hockey team, it has the distinction of being the only Division One ice hockey team in the Southeast! Because of its size, Spragins is often used as a venue for campus and community events, including the Alabama Science & Engineering Fair, Charger Madness, and the Homecoming tailgate.

Charger Park

Charger Park is home to our Division II softball, baseball, soccer, and lacrosse teams, which are just some of the 18 NCAA Division II men's and women's sports teams that make up our Athletic Department. UAH is a part of the always-competitive Gulf South Conference, and our athletes receive a lot of support from our students, thanks in part to the rowdy Blue Crew, our cheerleaders, and our dance squad. And because every home game is free with your Charger ID, there's no reason not to come out and cheer for the Blue and White!

Materials Science Building

The Materials Science building houses the Department of Chemistry and the College of Science advising offices. Inside this building you will find numerous classrooms and research laboratories. It also includes the 350-seat McDonnell Douglas Auditorium, used for class lectures or visiting speakers, as well as the university's nuclear magnetic resonance lab. Next door is the Optics Building, which houses research laboratories, classrooms, meeting rooms, and offices for the Center for Applied Optics, the Nano and Microdevices Laboratory, the Departments of Physics, the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, and the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering.

Engineering Building

U.S. Space & Rocket Center, NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center

The U.S. Space & Rocket Center is an affiliate of the Smithsonian Institution and the Official Visitor Center for NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center. It's also the largest spaceflight museum in the world, with over 20 million visitors since opening in 1970. But it's so much more than just a museum! The popular Space Camp, Aviation Challenge Camp, and Robotics Camp can be found here, in addition to two flight simulators and the Spacedome IMAX Theater. Not to mention its notable space artifacts, which include the Apollo 16 Command Module, the Pathfinder, the Apollo 12 Moon Rock, and the Saturn V Moon Rocket, which is visible from the UAH campus!

Johnson Research Center and Propulsion Lab

Dedicated to the research of aerospace technologies, the Johnson Research Center enables UAH faculty and students to work side by side with industry professionals, researchers, and engineers. Among its resources are a high-pressure spray laboratory, a vacuum environment chamber, an advanced propulsion laboratory, and a solar laboratory. The building is also home to UAH's Propulsion Research Center, which includes two hot-fire test cells for rocket and air-breathing propulsion testing and a high-pressure lab with a high-pressure solids combustion lab. In partnership with federal agencies and commercial companies, the Center focuses on integrating complex laboratory experiments with advanced instrumentation to discover new physical phenomena.

Roberts Hall

Named for Dr. Frances Cabaniss Roberts, the first chairperson of the History Department, Roberts Hall is now home to the Music Department and the Department of Curriculum and Instruction. Built in 1970, the first and second floors of Roberts Hall serves as a hub for music students, offering individual practice rooms as well as a state of the art recital hall. The third floor is home to undergraduate and graduate Teacher Education programs.
