College of Rural and Community Development

UAF's College of Rural and Community Development (CRCD) offers academic programs that serve Alaskan peoples and build a new generation of leaders. Supporting key initiatives such as workforce training, business development and economic growth, these programs are grounded in Alaska communities and the challenges they face. CRCD's classes are held either in-person in our rural communities, or virtually via audio or video conference. With learning centers and community campuses across the state, CRCD reaches more than 160 communities. Applied learning is built into everything we do. There's no limit to the kinds of hands-on learning you can engage in at the College of Rural and Community Development.

College of Engineering and Mines (ELIF)

UAF has been educating engineering students since 1922. Today the College of Engineering and Mines offers world-class facilities and 16 engineering-related programs ranging from BS through PhD. Engineering majors complete much of their coursework and research here in the Engineering Learning and Innovation Facility, also known as the ELIF Building. From day one, students can get involved in creating new technologies — from robots and drones, to advanced engineered systems and computer security. Students connect with renowned faculty and partake in research including satellite design, resource development, wireless sensor networks, artificial intelligence, permafrost cold-climate engineering, and more. UAF Engineering encourages students to head North to their future.

eCampus

The UAF eCampus office is located within the Bunnell Building. eCampus serves online students in Fairbanks in more than 250 communities across Alaska, as well as in the lower-48, and around the world. eCampus offers more than 45 high quality, fully online programs and hundreds of online courses each semester. Many UAF students choose to take a mix of both online and on-campus courses because of the flexibility that online classes provides for different lifestyles and schedules. In addition to dozens of completely online programs, eCampus offers enough online courses that any bachelor-degree student could do a full two years online before coming to Fairbanks. No matter where you are, eCampus courses always cost the low Alaska resident tuition rate, and come with additional support services specific to online learners.

Museum

The UA Museum of the North holds over 2.5 million objects and specimens that represent millions of years of biological diversity and thousands of years of cultural traditions in the North. The collections are organized into 11 research disciplines — Archaeology, Earth Sciences, Entomology, Ethnology and History, Film Center, Fine Arts, Fishes, Genomic Resources, Herbarium, Mammalogy and Ornithology — and are a resource for research on climate change, genetics, contaminants and other issues facing Alaska and the circumpolar North. These collections form the foundation for the museum's research, education programs, courses and exhibits. Rural Student Services

Rural Student Services supports the needs of Alaska Native and rural students. We provide comprehensive academic advising — working with you each semester to register for the classes that will most benefit your goals. We'll also help you navigate the university system, which can be unfamiliar and overwhelming to those coming from small communities. We create a home away from home by offering access to rural newspapers and traditional foods, welcoming family and community members at our events, and most importantly, by building strong relationships with all our students. The Wood Center Student Union houses the Center for Student Engagement, ASUAF student government, KSUA 91.5 FM, Alaska Esports Center, Sustainability and the FreeStore, the Pub and the main dining hall on campus, Dine 49. The Center for Student Engagement is where you can get connected with campus activities, or find information on student clubs. The Nanook Diversity and Action Center provides a welcoming space, educational programming and opportunities to transform social issues into action. The Wood Center is also home to the university's state-of-the-art Alaska Esports Center. Alaska Esports offers an inclusive space and diverse programs in which student gamers can connect inside their favorite virtual worlds!

Department of Military and Veteran Services

Welcome to the Department of Military and Veteran Services, located in 104 Eielson. DMVS is a primary point of contact and provides a variety of coordinated services for veterans, active-duty military members and their families during their time at UAF. These services include assistance in applying for and using veterans benefits, tuition assistance, credentialing assistance and MyCAA benefits. DMVS also serves as a liaison for the many services UAF has to offer, helping our military affiliated and veteran students navigate the world of higher education. Undergraduate Research (URSA)

At UAF, 42% of students who graduate have also taken part in undergraduate research, spanning fields like Arctic biology, engineering, geophysics, supercomputing, Alaska Native studies, and much more. The office of Undergraduate Research & Scholarly Activity (URSA) provides UAF students with access to funding for student research projects, travel to conferences and competitions, or to generate creative work.The Biomedical Learning and Student Training (BLaST) program offers undergraduate research training designed to engage diverse learners of all educational backgrounds — especially students from rural Alaska. Many students rely on the Rasmuson Library for their undergraduate research projects. Containing more than 1.2 million items, Rasmuson is the largest library in Alaska

Residence Life

The Department of Residence Life offers affordable and inclusive housing options for UAF students — including those who have partners and families. Students have the option to live on their own or with roommates in a traditional residence hall, suite or apartment. Residence Life employs students and full-time staff who ensure campus residents stay connected with one another through shared activities and access to both UAF and community resources. Residence Life also offers five Living Learning Communities to help build relationships based on common student interests, areas of study and goals. Fire, Police, Student Health and Counseling

The Whitaker Building is home to three independent health and safety departments — all housed under one roof, but with separate entrances. The Police Department provides a safe and secure environment for the staff, students, and visitors of UAF's campus. Our Emergency Communications Center provides reliable 24/7 dispatched officer support. Student firefighters at UAF provide fire and ambulance services to campus and other areas of Fairbanks. Their focus on academics and on-the-job training helps prepare graduates for work in fire departments nationwide. The Student Health and Counseling Center provides quality integrated and trauma-sensitive medical care and counseling services. Our professional, licensed medical practitioners and counselors promote holistic wellness.

SRC, Patty, Nanook Rec

Welcome to the Ernest N. Patty Center and the Patty Ice Arena. The facilities serve as the hub for Nanook Athletics and are home to our men's and women's basketball, volleyball, rifle, and hockey teams.The Patty Center is a great place to spend an evening watching your favorite Nanook team or player in action! Nanook Recreation is located in the Student Recreation Center. The facility includes a climbing wall, athletic courts, a fitness studio, and a variety of free weights and machines, as well as rentable equipment through UAF's Outdoor Adventures program. Year-round, students can workout with their friends, take recreation classes, and compete in club and intramural sports.
