What is “truckstop gourmet”?, it’s our take on quality hand prepared foods made with love and affection, combined with the portion, price and home-style feel of your local truckstop. For you dining pleasure we feature house cured salmon, house smoked pork, legendary burgers, overstuffed sandwiches and divine entrees, with daily specials to satisfy your every hunger. For your drinking pleasure we specialize in craft beer, handcrafted adult-size cocktails, and an exceptional wine list. Our Uptown location (Toast 125) was founded in 1999 when the area wasn’t nearly as safe as it is today. A brainchild of Larry Good, (Nacho Mama’s Burritos, The Heights, Carne and Toast 105), built by Misha Kliot, (Carne and Toast 105), and with the stove manned by the legendary Big Jim Johnston, (whereabouts unknown), it quickly became and institution. Big Jim trained Pasquale, German, Jose, and Simon- who12 years later are still with us and still pumping out the comida as fast and as well as is humanly possible. Located near such academic environments as Columbia University, and the Manhattan School of Music, as well as the historic Riverside Church and Ulysses S. Grant’s tomb, Toast is a great place weather you are sightseeing, studying, visiting, or living in the neighborhood. Don’t forget Toast is also available for your private party or catering needs at either location.
