An English man by the name of Jason Hicks, who was born and bred in the birthplace of William Shakespeare (Stratford-upon-Avon), and attended the very school which Shakespeare attended, wished to create a British style pub in NYC called The Shakespeare. He identified the basement of the Williams Club in Murray Hill as the perfect location… In the same vein as Jason’s successful Jones Wood Foundry, The Shakespeare offers well kept beers, friendly attentive service, in a casual no-frills environment serving a more sophisticated form of ‘Pub Grub’. This, coupled with a setting reminiscent of a 14th century tavern in Stratford-upon-Avon, creates the perfect place to have a ‘pint’ and grab a bite to eat.
