Since 1947, as campers arrive at Camp Takajo they are greeted by the Takajo Arch. You may start your tour here by selecting one of the white arrows. Before you begin your tour, please take a moment to read the twelve ideals listed on our arch. These ideals guide our philosophy at Camp Takajo and serve as a constant reminder of the importance of living life with integrity. Feel free to explore around camp. Serving as the heart of our Junior age group, Junior quad offers a large grass field surrounded by Junior Camp bunks, a shower house, bleachers, and an outdoor meeting area complete with benches.
Warrior Quad

The Warrior Quad is where I live. It is home to our youngest campers, ages seven to ten years old. It offers a large grass field surrounded by bunks for campers to sleep in, the Warrior shower house and meeting-area bleachers.

The Warrior Basketball Court is designed for our Warrior campers, specifically for boys ages seven through ten years old. The four glass backboards are height adjustable for our younger campers.

K-Quad

"K-Quad is named for the many bunks whose names start with the letter "K" and is home to some of our Junior and Senior campers. This quad is set among towering pine trees and looks out to our magnificent lake."
Waterfront

"Welcome to Takajo's waterfront. Takajo rests on the shores of Long Lake, which is 1 and 1/2 miles across and 11 miles long. We have two dock sections that create swim pools, and two shallow areas for our youngest campers to swim and play water basketball. Our ""deep end"" has a dive platform, a fast slide, and a diving board. We offer instructional swim classes, water-skiing, wake boarding, knee boarding, sailing, canoeing and kayaking. "

Takajo is known for its delicious food including pasta bars, salad bars, and soup stations at lunch and dinner. Our 10,000 square-foot building, with magnificent windows, allows the sunlight in, as well as, breathtaking views of Long Lake.
Media Center

The Media Center is home to our video and digital photography programs. Each summer, campers create a video yearbook that is given to all campers as a permanent keepsake of the wonderful experiences they had at camp.
Health Center

"We all need a little T.L.C. from time to time. And, if a camper Is feeling under the weather, they come here. Our air-conditioned Health Center is staffed by six registered nurses and a doctor, who resides in camp. There is a private exam room so that our physician can conduct proper and thorough examinations, as well as eight comfortable rooms for campers who are ""on the mend."

Our camp newspaper is published here and is given to each bunk every other day during the camp season. Camper reporters meet with the Tak Talk editor to discuss and write articles for the paper about daily events that take place in camp.

Home to our radio station, WTAK. Camper DJ's broadcast music over our FM station. In the Radio and Electronics hobby, campers learn about building circuitry, electronic devices, and radio-controlled vehicles.
Art Center

The Art Center is where campers come to explore their creative side. The two story building houses art, crafts and ceramics. A huge sliding door opens up the entire building to a large deck where all campers can come outside to create on a beautiful Maine day.

Wannigan

We take over 100 camping trips in the New England Region during the summer, and it all starts here. Our pioneering center, the Wannigan, houses tripping equipment and food supplies. The adjacent building contains an administrative office and a large classroom for demonstrations, map work, trip preparation and indoor classes.

Upper Field House

The Simpson Center is our newest, indoor sports complex. Equipped with six glass backboards on hydraulic lifts, this facility can be used for indoor basketball, indoor soccer and a host of other fun activities!

The Lower Field House has a full-sized, high school basketball court. There are a total of six glass backboards that allow us to play lots of basketball. Street hockey, indoor soccer and dodge ball are other games we play in this multi-purpose sports complex.

The Senior Baseball Field is designed with our older campers in mind, specifically for boys ages thirteen through fifteen years old. It's a long way over the green monster in left field! Next to this field, is our batting cage and pitching machine.

Adjacent to the senior baseball field, the Senior Basketball Court is the site of instruction and games for our oldest campers. Nestled among the tall pines, the regulation court has glass backboards and bleachers packed with cheering fans, which make for a perfect game setting.

The Junior Soccer Field is sized appropriately for our fifth and sixth grade campers. Soccer instruction, league games, and intra-camp tournaments all see action here.
Hockey Rinks

Takajo has two awesome hockey rinks. Both rinks have padding on the inside of the boards to prevent a camper from an unnecessary injury. Equipped with storage lockers for our equipment, penalty boxes and team benches, as well as lights for night play, these rinks make you feel like you are playing with the pros.

Every boy's dream is to sleep in a tree house. Camp Takajo has three unique, custom-built tree houses large enough to sleep an entire bunk of campers. Hike up the trail, and try out the spiral slide or rope bridge.

The Tak-a-Hole includes a nine-hole putting area, pitching area, tee platforms and driving nets. Campers learn basic golf skills here, and then take what the have learned to one of our two local 18-hole golf courses in the area.
