Welcome to the Taylorsville Redwood campus of Salt Lake Community College, located 15 minutes from downtown Salt Lake City. Serving more than 15,000 students every year on this campus, SLCC prepares students for specific jobs or to transfer to a four-year institution, the latter of which is the preferred academic plan for the majority of graduates. There are over 100 two-year degrees offered in both academic and vocational fields. Let's take a look at the campus!

As a student at Salt Lake, you will frequently find yourself in the Student Center, which is located in the middle of campus. The bookstore, student event center, Student Life, and a food court are all on the main floor. The second floor is home to administrative offices like Financial Aid, Registration, Admissions, and Academic Advising. When you have a break from classes, an area called The Lair features video games, pinball, a big screen TV, and snack machines.

The Markosian Library provides many print and digital resources to supplement your classes. Open six days a week with evening hours, this is a convenient place to study, use computers, check out DVDs, make use of interlibrary loan, or get help from a reference librarian in your academic research. The SLCC Archives & IR Digital Collections creates exhibits, found on the first floor, that are related to the history of the College and its community members.

The Lifetime Activity Center is a large facility housing the indoor Bruin Arena as well as a gymnasium. The polished and impressive space contains six basketball hoops, racquetball courts, and volleyball courts. The sizeable Strength Room provides athletes or those wanting to stay fit with a plethora of free weights and workout equipment.

The Science & Industry Building is home to mostly classrooms and laboratories, spread out over four floors. There are a wide variety of science departments at Salt Lake Community College, including Aviation Technology, Biology, Chemistry, Geoscience, and Physics. There are several academic paths students can take: enroll in general education science classes, train for a specific career and obtain a certificate, or pursue a four-year degree after working towards a two-year Associate's degree here.

Here we are at the Applied Technology Center, where many students are enrolled in vocational and technical certificate programs. The Center has ample space for Welding facilities, a Machine Shop, and a Copy Center. Class schedules are flexible for those who already have job commitments, and tuition is very low for most students, and free for High School students.

The Construction Trades Building has a variety of classrooms and faculty offices under one roof, ranging from anthropology to diesel systems technology, and psychology to cabinet making and furniture construction. This building is also home to Student Testing Services, meaning that you will come here for GED testing before you can start college classes.

When weather permits, take advantage of the great outdoor space that is the Main Quad. Recent renovations upgraded the Tanner fountain, which is the focal point and connects to many wide walkways. Other welcomed additions include benches and night lighting, and new trees replace those that were unable to survive the Utah heat.

The Calvin Rampton Technology Building, often referred to as just the Technology Building or "TB," is one of the taller facilities on campus with six floors. Amenities include multiple auditoriums and a computer center, as well as many floors devoted to classroom space. Additionally, there are tutoring services available inside, with a drop-in learning center and focused tutoring in the physical sciences, mathematics, reading, languages, and ESL.

Across the Quad from the Student Center and diagonal from the Technology Building is the Jay L. Nelson Administration Building. College administrators such as the President and the Events Coordinator have offices located here. It is also the home of various programs, such as the Barbering and Cosmetology program.

If you are interested in a career in business, an always evolving and exciting field, options abound at Salt Lake Community College. The Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs accredits each business program offered, with opportunities to pursue Business Management and its various subspecialties, Retail Management, Production Operations, and many more.
