Altgeld Hall, the "castle building," is the oldest building on campus. Originally completed in 1896, it was renovated more recently to better accommodate the School of Music offices and classrooms. The beautiful structure is home to large ensemble practice rooms, small lesson rooms, and lockers for student use. The Center for Experimental Music, with its computer-enhanced composition workstations and a digital recording studio, is invaluable for students in the music composition program. Adjacent Shryock Auditorium, our historic and beautiful auditorium, hosts music performances and other events throughout the year.

Altgeld Hall, the "castle building," is the oldest building on campus. Originally completed in 1896, it was renovated more recently to better accommodate the School of Music offices and classrooms. The beautiful structure is home to large ensemble practice rooms, small lesson rooms, and lockers for student use. The Center for Experimental Music, with its computer-enhanced composition workstations and a digital recording studio, is invaluable for students in the music composition program. Adjacent Shryock Auditorium, our historic and beautiful auditorium, hosts music performances and other events throughout the year.

Davies Hall houses the Department of Kinesiology. There is also Davies Gymnasium, home to the Saluki volleyball team, which underwent its latest renovation in 2013. The gym was the home of Saluki men's and women's indoor sports programs until the men moved into SIU Arena in 1964.
