Welcome to Southeastern Oklahoma State University, commonly called "Southeastern" or SOSU, and home to 4,200 students. This 100-year old public university is comprised of three schools—Arts and Sciences, Business, and Education and Behavioral Science—with a variety of degrees at both undergraduate and graduate levels. Come take a tour of this 161-acre campus, which is situated near the Oklahoma-Texas border.

Morrison Hall

Ornately designed Morrison Hall lies on the grand lawn at Southeastern and was one of the first buildings to be constructed on the campus, in 1911. While it was formerly known as the "Administration Building," Morrison Hall now houses the English, Humanities, Languages, and Education departments. New amenities include air-conditioned classrooms for a diverse array of courses and extracurricular activities like driver education, audio-visual learning, photography, and printing purposes.

Administration

Across from Morrison Hall on 6th Avenue is the current Administration building, where students can find the president's and deans' offices, as well as classrooms, laboratories for the Social Sciences, and an auditorium that seats 200 people. The Math department can also be found here, spanning the entire first floor.

Henry G. Bennett Library

The Henry G. Bennett Library, named after Southeastern's 6th president, is the main academic library, with a collection consisting of 183,000 volumes, including 87,000 government documents. Although this library has been around since 1909, it has kept up with evolving technology. In addition to a computerized database, there is also a large computer lab available to students utilizing the library.

For those who are artistically-inclined, Southeastern has no shortage of options. Students can major in theatre, music, music education, art education, visual media, studio art, or graphic design. Gallery and theatre facilities provide opportunities to hone creative skills and to see international performers, often at little or no cost if enrolled in an art-related degree program.

Baseball Field

Just east of the University's academic facilities lies an athletic quadrant, bordered by Montgomery Street, University Boulevard, and 4th and 1st Avenues. The regulation baseball field is complemented by classic brick dugouts, batting cages, and even a press box, which is justified considering that 5 graduates went on to become major leaguers and many others received professional contracts.

Paul Laird Field

Paul Laird Field is one of the more recently updated facilities on campus. FieldTurf now replaces the natural grass of Southeastern's football stadium, which features other upgrades such as, a renovated locker room and ticket booth, and a seating capacity increased by 600. To properly celebrate the team's 17 conference championships and 24 Hall of Famers, the Football Honors Plaza was erected at one end of the field.

Bloomer Sullivan Arena

Bloomer Sullivan Arena is an impressive 52,000 sq-ft facility home to a pristine basketball court with room for 3,600 spectators. Because of its grand size, Bloomer Sullivan Arena is also utilized for special events when it isn't hosting either the men's or women's basketball teams.

Shearer Hall and Suites

Shearer Hall is a co-ed dormitory with suites usually housing either 2 or 4 students, as well as particular "communities" found within, such as a "freshmen only community" and an "8 person community." In addition to some private rooms and even private bathrooms, there are also floor lounges, computer labs, laundry rooms, kitchens, and a central communal room for socializing and eating. Bedrooms typically measure 10' by 11' and come complete with furniture, temperature control, as well as cable and internet access.

Glen D. Johnson Student Union

Standing three stories tall, the relatively new Glen D. Johnson Student Union handles a lot of student traffic because of its multiple dining options, bookstore, game room, health services, and fitness facilities. Most campus organizations and social groups have some kind of headquarters here, and both the Dean of Students and Student Support Services are available to guide you on your college path.

University Center

And speaking of your college path, here we are at the last stop of the virtual tour, the University Center, situated near residence halls and adjacent to the Student Union. Here you will find conference rooms and the Career Management Center, which holds career fairs, workshops, and professional development events so that you can plan for life after graduation.
