Sonner-Payne Hall: Boys Dormitory

With its beautiful dome, Sonner-Payne Hall is our most recognizable campus building. On the main floor is the Moore Enterprise and Leadership Lab. This collaborative workspace allows students to gather for group projects, have small classes, or host meetings. Also on the main floor are our administrative offices and swimming pool. The lower level of Sonner-Payne is where students relax with friends while playing games, watching TV or ordering takeout food on the weekends and enjoying quality time together. As the day draws to an end, the male students head upstairs to their dorm rooms, where a Cadet Life Supervisor lives on each hall to create a safe living environment.

Welcome to Turner Hall. On the ground floor you will find our dining hall that is full of delicious and nutritious food choices. A salad, sandwich and soup bar is available with fantastic options for our community to choose from. There are two different entrees to each meal as well as panini and waffle makers and an exciting bluetooth pizza maker. The Upper floors of Turner Hall house our girls dormitory. Two students are in a room with a shared bathroom which connects to another dorm room. The girls have their own lounge space with TV and study tables as well as their own fitness room.

Welcome to Stan Fulton Hall. This academic building holds our English, Social Studies, and World Language classrooms along with the Hadeed Innovation Wing, which opened in October of 2018. In the innovation wing you can find students working on robotics, using our 3D printers, taking engineering courses, or getting hands-on creativity with our studio art class and graphic design classes. This is also home to our flight program and a state-of-the art Redbird TD Flight Simulator. The lower level of Fulton is the home of our medical clinic; which is staffed with qualified and experienced nurses to manage and coordinate the healthcare needs of our students.

R-MA sits on 135 acres in the heart of the Shenandoah Valley. With the beauty of all four seasons, students get to experience crisp fall days at a football game, or the spring breeze as you play soccer or baseball; among our many other sports opportunities to choose from. Go for a jog on our all-weather track, or have a pick up basketball game or tennis match. It is a great place to get exercise and bond with your friends in a safe and secure campus environment.

The basketball, volleyball, and wrestling teams take the court for competition in Melton Memorial Gym; one of our favorite spots on campus to cheer on our Yellow Jackets to victory. The gym is the open to all students on the weekends for free time and there is also an athletic training room for vigorous workouts for our R-MA athletes. Each fall, the gym is transformed to faraway places by our theater department; while our students explore their creative side on stage during our fall productions; or as part of our sound and lighting crews. Recent performances have included The Lion King, Cinderella, and Mulan.

Here in Crow Hall, you will find our Science, Mathematics, Aerospace Science and Unmanned Aviation classrooms. One of our popular classes is located in our Hydroponics lab; which was built from a recent J-term class. This lab includes various hydroponic systems to grow basil, chard, microgreens, and other greens. The classrooms for our drone program are also located in Crow; where students can train on the skills, platforms, and technologies needed to be successful in a variety of career paths that involve the use of unmanned aircraft systems; including cinematography, engineering, emergency response, and agriculture.

The physical center of the spiritual activities at R-MA is Boggs Chapel. In addition to our chapel services, cadet assemblies, guest speakers, and band and chorus performances are all centered within our lovely chapel space and a joy for both the R-MA and local communities to attend. The chapel also features an organ, state-of-the-art sound system, and piano. The spiritual life team also holds ice cream socials so that students from all religious backgrounds can bond and learn from one another.

Welcome to Randolph-Macon Academy's middle school. Students in grades 6-8 attend classes in our academic building which houses our classrooms, media center, library, and innovation and digital piano labs. Our student designed lounge is used as a common space for gathering during tutorial period and after classes. Classrooms are equipped with flat screens, collaborative work spaces, and alternative seating which make learning interactive and fun! The pre-college preparatory curriculum prepares students for our more rigorous high school courses and a love of learning. Our middle school gym is a favorite gathering space to cheer on our athletic teams, enjoy free time playing basketball and games, and take PE classes.

Close friendships are formed through shared experiences in our middle school dorms. Manned with caring, nurturing dorm parents who look after the students while they guide them through important developmental years. Through a structured program and genuine care, students gain organizational habits, social skills, and develop athletically, academically, and morally. We are a family and strive to support each other and teach positive habits. We have an upscale dining service that prepares our food fresh each day with organically grown foods. R-MA has the only flight training program at the private high school level that offers in-house flight training. The instructors are R-MA employees, and the aircraft used are academy-owned. R-MA student pilots do the majority of their flight training throughout the beautiful Shenandoah Valley. Our aircraft and hangar is located at Front Royal/Warren County Airport; near the north entrance of Shenandoah National Park. Randolph-Macon Academy offers first class instruction both in the air and on the ground to students who will discover the unlimited opportunities aviation presents. As students rise to reach their goals in the flight program they gain self-confidence, self-esteem, and broaden their career options.
