Eliot Hall

Eliot Hall is a multipurpose facility housing academic, administrative and services spaces. Members of Reed's leadership, including the college's president, maintain offices here. As a student you might visit Eliot Hall to manage your records, class registration, and financial transactions. The building boasts several unique architectural flourishes and also houses a third-floor chapel.

Gray Campus Center

Gray Campus Center is where you'll find a wide array of dining options, student offices, presentation venues and community spaces. The 760-seat Kaul Auditorium hosts concerts, conferences and other special events. More intimate performances are held in the Student Union (or SU), which also provides a relaxed atmosphere for gatherings. Elsewhere inside the Center are several other offices and services including the student-run Quest newspaper, the campus Bookstore, Mail Services and a student print shop.

Old Dorm Block

Built in 1912 in the English Manor style, Old Dorm Block provides roomy on-campus living quarters spread amongst eight different residence halls. The building is one of the oldest on campus and features rooms with balconies, fireplaces and window seats. Residents share kitchenettes, onsite laundry facilities and a lounge where they can watch TV or play pool.

Vollum College Center

Though it has undergone several transformations over the years, today's Vollum College Center is a primary academic building for the Humanities, Literature and Social Sciences. In addition to classrooms and offices, the Center boasts a three-tiered, 400-seat lecture hall, which hosts a variety of stimulating events led by faculty and guests. Vollum Lounge also serves as a venue for art, presentations and celebrations.

Library

The Reed College Library provides a comprehensive print and digital collection to support its academic programming. Additionally, it features a Gallery, the Instructional Media Center and Language Lab, open study tables and three study rooms. You can catch up on the news and books for your own enjoyment in Pollock Reading Room on the main floor, or explore rare books and archives on Lower Level 2.

Physics

The Physics Building is where both Physics majors, and those studying Physics as part of a broader Liberal Arts education, converge with accomplished faculty. To support active research and instruction, the building holds a number of cutting-edge instruments, and houses an Astrophysics and a Scientific Computation Lab. Students participate in weekly seminars that draw guest speakers from across the globe.

Chemistry

The Arthur F. Scott Laboratory of Chemistry is a high-tech facility dedicated to thesis students and faculty. Here they can access research-grade labs and instrumentation, including a Computational Chemistry Lab complete with Silicon Graphics workstations. Reed students have the unique opportunity to operate the nation's only undergraduate college research reactor.

Psychology

The Psychology Building provides instructional, office and research space for Reed students and faculty. The building features state-of-the art observational labs, including a cognition lab with a recording and sound studio. Also supporting the department are small animal facilities and a 90-seat auditorium. The original structure was designed by famed architect Pietro Belluschi.

Studio Art

The Studio Art Building is where Reed's visual arts programming is headquartered. The facility contains spacious teaching studios, studios dedicated to individual disciplines, a projection and seminar room and a computer graphics imaging room. Onsite and throughout campus, Reedies have opportunities to display their work, including in the gallery and critique room. Through a partnership with Pacific Northwest College of Art, Reed students also have opportunities to display their work at Portland Art Museum.

Grove Quad

Grove Quad, along with the ETC quad, the Commons Quad, and several others on campus, provides a green gathering place for the Reed community. The quad is surrounded by Aspen, Bidwell, Sitka and Sequoia Houses on the edge of Reed Canyon. These residences are new and LEED-certified.
