Smith Memorial Building

Smith Memorial Building honors our founder, William Waugh Smith. Inside, you'll typically attend classes in subjects like English, creative writing, and history. The building also houses Smith Hall Theatre, a large auditorium where you'll be able to experience everything from nationally recognized speakers like Maya Angelou to dance concerts to one of the College's favorite traditions, "The Show." Every four years, faculty and staff showcase their "talents" for students. You don't want to miss it. Smith is also home to another favorite tradition: Convocation. Seniors wear graduation gowns, crazy hats, and stoles filled with button collections. The event is one of the liveliest you will ever experience.

Wright Hall

Welcome to our newly renovated Wright Hall. Students living in this residence hall take advantage of large closets, hardwood floors, windows with amazing views, and plenty of historic charm. But don't worry, this eco-friendly building also has all the modern conveniences you need to make it your home-away-from-home, including laundry, Wi-Fi, and plenty of comfortable lounges to watch TV, study, or hang out with your friends.Nearly 90 percent of Randolph's students live on campus in one of Randolph's six unique residence halls. We also offer an apartment-style living option across the street.

Cheatham Dining Hall

Randolph's Cheatham Dining Hall offers an array of food options as well as an outside eating area. The all-you-care-to-eat menu includes a salad bar, international foods, grilled fare, sandwiches, make-your-own waffles, and a dessert bar. Special dietary restrictions are no problem for our chef. It's a great place to meet up with friends or get to know the faculty and staff. Our professors often host special tables in the dining hall for classes. Want to practice your Spanish? Sit with your professor and fellow students at the Spanish table. Don't have time for a sit-down meal? We offer an eco-friendly, student-designed reusable, takeout container.

SunTrust Plaza

Students often take a breather here at the SunTrust Plaza to relax around the Sundial. It offers a great view of front campus, along with two residence halls, Wright Hall and West Hall. The Sundial tradition goes way back to the early days of the College. Another long-time tradition is our student-run Honor Code. At Randolph, the honor code is more than a set of rules. It's a series of rights and responsibilities you won't find at other colleges. Here, we trust our students to do the right thing and to live with integrity and honesty. As a result, you'll find a community where students earn privileges like self-scheduled exams.

Main Hall

This is Main Hall, our oldest building, which opened in 1893. Main Hall serves as the heart of campus. It houses Main Hall lobby, offices, residence halls, classrooms, a computer lab, and the Center for Student Research. Professors usually have open door policies and will get to know you personally. Make sure to say "hi" to the president while you are here or sit and enjoy the piano in the lobby. Several other buildings on front campus are connected to Main Hall through covered walkways that we call "trolleys." This means you can get to classes, the dining hall, and other places without going outside during bad weather!

Student Center

There's something for everyone here in our nationally recognized Student Center. You can grab a quick bite at the Skeller, hang out in Hampson Commons, or head to the second floor, where you can hang out, play video games, or test your ping pong and pool skills. If you feel like getting in shape, you won't find a more picturesque place. Our fitness center features a yoga studio, a mezzanine level, and 20-foot tall windows overlooking back campus and the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. On the third floor are conference rooms and Nichols Theatre, where you might attend a lecture or watch a movie.

Michels Plaza

Feel like catching a few rays or doing homework outside? Michels Plaza is the place to be on campus. The relaxing fountain and spectacular views provide the perfect backdrop. Write a poem for the Poetry Tree or work on that watercolor for art. Randolph is a creative campus, and we encourage our students to discover and develop their passions, whether they be in art, writing, dance, music, or theatre. We like to balance work and play here at Randolph. In fact, our new curriculum model, TAKE2, was designed by our faculty and allows our students to take just two classes each seven weeks, creating more life balance and deeper learning.

Terrell Health and Counseling Center

The **Terrell Health and Counseling Center provides students with quality, confidential, and compassionate health care. The center strives to promote healthy lifestyle habits and provide treatment, counseling, and education for typical student health needs and concerns. Also located in the lower level of this building is the Randolph College Nursery School. The preschool provides Randolph students with a chance for real, hands-on early childhood education training in one of Virginia's only 5-star rated preschools.

Houston Memorial Chapel

Randolph welcomes students of all religions, cultures, and backgrounds. **Houston Memorial Chapel serves as a home for many events as well as religious services. There is a place for everyone here in our diverse community, and you won't find cliques. We offer our students plenty of opportunities to learn about other cultures and backgrounds, and we encourage our students to learn about themselves in the process. The labyrinth near the Chapel is just the place to center yourself and reconnect with what's really important. Seriously, how many colleges have a labyrinth, especially one overlooking an authentic Greek theatre?

The Dell

The Dell houses the Mabel K. Whiteside Greek Theatre, which is home to everything from concerts to ceremonies to our famous Greek Play. Randolph's Greek Play stems from a tradition begun in 1909, and today, our students still put on productions using authentic Greek practices. There are plenty of other opportunities for Randolph students to perform on stage, including with our theatre program, which puts on several productions each year. We even have our own theatre-in-residence, Endstation Theatre, which offers students first dibs on internships.

Our student-athletes excel both on the playing field and in the classroom. Randolph offers 10 women's teams and eight men's teams. We compete in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference and Division III of the NCAA. Swimming competes in the newly revamped swimming facility, and basketball and volleyball take the court in the new Giles Gym. Both of these facilities are located in our nearby athletic center, The MAC. WildCat Stadium, with its beautiful views of the nearby mountains, is home to lacrosse, soccer, and track and field. Across from the stadium are the tennis courts, and the softball field, and other playing fields are also located nearby.

Organic Garden

Sustainability is a way of life at Randolph, so much so that we were named one of the nation's top 50 "Green Colleges" by The Princeton Review. You can be ecocentric at Randolph in so many ways. The Organic Garden is a popular spot for students. Here, you can pet the chickens, get fresh honey from the bee hives, pluck fruit from the fruit trees, or grow your own garden using sustainable farming practices. Our students also make their own laundry detergent, run their own organic coffee shop, and head our recycling efforts. Our alumni often come back to share their success stories in the environmental science field!

The Maier Museum of Art at Randolph College is home to our extensive collection of contemporary American art. First built as a bomb shelter by the National Gallery of Art to house the nation's treasures, today the museum allows our students to get firsthand experience curating exhibits and learning from incredible works of art. We offer a unique major in museum and heritage studies, and Randolph hosts the oldest annual exhibition of contemporary art by any college or university in the nation. We are also the only U.S. educational institution with a partnership with the National Gallery, London. The partnership creates special opportunities, including internships in the London museum.

Welcome to Leggett Building, home of Thoresen Theatre. Here, you will take classes in subjects like art, language, media and culture, and sociology. Students at Randolph don't sit mindlessly listening to lectures. They are actively engaged in their education, with dynamic classroom discussions, integrative internship programs, and real world experiences. In fact, 60 percent of Randolph students complete internships before graduating. With a 8:1 student-to-faculty ratio, 29 majors and 42 minors, Randolph offers students a broad range of disciplines, as well as several pre-professional and a dual enrollment program. Our small classes mean your professors will know you personally. You will never be just a number.

The Michels Athletic Center or The MAC as we like to call it, serves as the home for our growing athletics program. The newly renovated and expanded facility features Giles Gym, where basketball and volleyball compete. The facility also features a new pool, dance studio, weight and fitness room, locker rooms, training room, team rooms, an aerobics room, as well as offices. Whether you are a student-athlete or not, there is a place for everyone at The MAC. Take advantage of the facility to keep healthy or come out to the gym and cheer on your friends. You might even get a glimpse of Wanda WildCat. She loves it there!

Lipscomb Library is also a newly renovated space offering five floors of books, study rooms, collaborative workspaces, and a rare book room. You can take advantage of the reading room to study or connect your laptop in one of the small group study rooms. Martin Science Building

You might not think liberal arts when you consider a career in science, but it is actually one of the best preparations for the field - especially at Randolph. Science matters here. Whether you are pursuing mathematics, environmental science or studies, or physics, biology, or chemistry majors, you'll spend a lot of time in Martin Science Building. You'll work side-by-side with professors on research, and might even get published! Don't be surprised if you take a field trip to study rollercoasters or spend an afternoon launching rockets on front campus. We have pre-professional programs if you are pre-med or pre-vet, and 3-2 programs in engineering.

Randolph's 100-acre campus is located in Lynchburg, which is home to more than 20,000 college students. There are plenty of activities, shops, and restaurants within walking distance, and we even run a free shuttle on the weekends. Downtown offers an active entertainment scene, with live theatre, music, and more. If you love the outdoors, check out the local trails for hiking and biking. Randolph offers a student-run bike share program if you don't have your own. Lynchburg is a bike-friendly city, and we are also only a few minutes away from the country's only year-round synthetic ski slope, several regular snow resorts, lakes, and the Appalachian Trail.

Presser Hall

Presser Hall is the home of Randolph's music department. Here, we have Wimberly Recital Hall, where you can watch a vast array of performances by expert musicians or even give your own! Sound-proof practice rooms are available to all students. Randolph offers several options to students looking to hone their musical talents, including the Chamber Orchestra and Chorale, our premiere classical vocal group. We also feature a selective vocal jazz ensemble called Touch of Harmony and two student-run a capella groups.

Randolph College believes its students should be prepared for life after graduation. The Grosvenor Apartments are one way we make sure our students are ready. Located just across the street from main campus, the apartment complex provides an independent living option for upper-class students. There are one and two-bedroom apartments, each with its own kitchen, dining room and living area. Randolph's study abroad program is another way we encourage our students to experience independent life while in college. We have everything from two-week to full year programs available, including two-week Study Seminars across a range of academic disciplines and in countries all over the globe.
