Outdoor Classroom

Anchoring the south end of the Campus Commons, the Outdoor Classroom is an example of a Prescott College student's senior project. Designed and constructed by a Sustainable Design graduate, the classroom has a timber frame structure and solar panels on the roof. The walls were constructed using several traditional building techniques, and a glass window was built into the walls so that visitors can see how the walls were made. In this way, the classroom is both a place where learning happens and an educational asset itself.

Manzanita, a noted historic campus building, houses faculty and administrative offices including the President, Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs, Director of Sustainability, Advancement, Alumni and Grants, VP for Finances and, on the second floor, the Old Chapel classroom. Originally the building served as the Sisters of Mercy Hospital Convent for the old Prescott hospital.

The yoga circle provides a bit of a green oasis in the midst of the rambling flow of our lives as exhibited by the stream-like design of the pavers that form the campus commons.

Crossroads Center

Crossroads Center Is the hub of the campus, housing the library, the café, classrooms and a large multipurpose space used for gatherings, large lectures and films. The building was designed as a model of sustainability made from recycled earth, wood and steel all brought together in an artistic sculpture including a second story bridge with amazing views!

As a doctoral granting institution, we have an amazing depth and assortment of resources available to all students including over 1 million books and videos available to students through our Yavapai Library Network, over 32,000 full-text journals online and over 100,000 e-books. A setting made to inspire, the PC Library is staffed by multiple specialists along with a quiet study area, collaborative spaces and classrooms including a Writing Center & Academic Helpdesk (tutoring in math and science available).

Crossroads Cafe

Our own award winning café is not your usual college food service spot and the food is actually home made. Chef Mark and his staff provide students with fresh, healthy, affordable food prepared simply and sensitively. The menu changes daily and uses local, seasonal, sustainable, organically-grown foods prepared with traditional and innovative methods. It's a place to gather, relax and eat and with both inside and outside seating is the best little café in town!

Butte Creek

Butte Creek--flows right through campus from the heights of Thumb Butte--the iconic rock formation located right up the road from campus. Thumb Butte is the symbol of the City of Prescott and Butte Creek is part of a restoration project lead by the Prescott College community and is part of the larger City of Prescott Greenway Project. The high percentage of sunny days each year, over 300, provides ideal conditions for numerous activities.

One of only a few LEED Platinum Certified residence halls in the U.S., The Village, opened in Fall 2012, is a $7.4 million facility with each of the three buildings divided into 4-5 multi-level apartment units housing up to eight students for a total of 104 residents. The gated facility also includes a covered pavilion for activities, outdoor fireplace and seating areas and extensive native as well as edible landscaping.

The Student Activities Center is the perfect spot to relax, chat with friends or hold a club meeting. The Center also provides indoor space for non-resident students to connect.

Students of Environmental Studies and Sustainability make frequent use of our Biology, Chemistry, and Earth Science Labs, which are located in the Mogollon building at the north end of the campus. The labs were recently remodeled, and contain up to date equipment and facilities. Students in these disciplines have the option of completing a Bachelor of Arts, or a Bachelor of Science, if their education and career path is leading them toward research and/or graduate school.

These two repurposed buildings are home to general classroom space and a digital storytelling lab along with our Natural History Institute. Prescott students learn critical thinking and research and how to apply them to real-life problems and their own passions by living them and testing them out in real time.

Summit is a classroom building just off the main campus but centered within community service organizations. The theme of service and activism is a prevalent and powerful mission of the College, permeating its whole history from the 1960's to today. Historic Downtown Prescott, known as Everybody's Home town and Arizona's Christmas City, the pulse of Prescott is built around an elm-shaded, traditional courthouse plaza which hosts almost daily activities ranging from bustling art shows, concerts, antique fairs and any excuse for a festival. Live music venues abound and cover the spectrum. Around here you'll find many things to do including horseback riding, golfing, kayaking, fishing, hiking, camping, mountain biking, local breweries, hotels, unique restaurants, shopping, and a safe, hometown feel that keep our visitors, young and old, coming back year after year.

The City of Prescott boasts 16 parks and three lakes with the gem being Granite Dells where massive boulders of ancient rock have weathered into delicately balanced forms and fanciful shapes, reflected in the surface of Watson Lake. Nestled at an elevation of 5,300' feet above sea level amongst the largest stand of ponderosa pine forests in the U.S., Prescott's perfect weather provides an average temperature of 70 degrees, with four beautiful and distinct seasons, and breathtaking landscapes complete with granite mountains, pine forests, lakes, streams, and rolling meadows filled with wildlife. Two hours south of the Grand Canyon and the alpine San Francisco Peaks including the Arizona Snowbowl at 12,000 feet and less than two hours north of Phoenix and the Sonoran Desert…..we, well, have it all!

The Kino Bay Center for Cultural and Ecological Studies is Prescott College's field station on the shores of the Gulf of California in Sonora, Mexico. Each year the Kino Bay Center hosts over 450 researchers, students, resident fellows and community visitors from dozens of institutions and community groups from Mexico, the United States and other parts of the world. The mission of the Kino Bay Center is to protect priority species and habitats through the integrated application of science, education, information exchange, and community participation.
