Welcome to Old Dominion University's Housing and Residence Life Tour, where it's a great day to Love Where You Live!
We are currently in Runte Quad, an active community located in the heart of campus that is home to the housing office and residence halls. Workout at the Student Recreation Center, grab a bite with friends at Broderick Dining Commons* or enjoy the weather on the Runte Quad lawn. And when you need to wind down, why not enjoy a game night with friends in one of the many community rooms? Home to many Living-Learning Communities including Honors College, "The Quad" has it all!
Before we get started, let me explain the many ways you can explore our beautiful space.

HRL Main Office

We house over 4800 students in residential communities. Our office is home to professional staff as well as about a dozen student office assistants. Located in Virginia House, we are open from 8 am to 5 pm Monday through Friday. Students can stop by our office and ask one of our office assistants housing related questions and even print out housing documents.
Virginia, Dominion, Ireland at Runte Quad

Virginia, Dominion, and Ireland Houses offer suite-style living options with single, double, and triple rooms available. Each room includes a common living space and 2-3 bathrooms inside the suite. These residence halls feature plenty of community spaces for hanging out with friends and the private study spaces are a great place to host a study session before a big exam. Virginia House is a mixed class building, and is the perfect place to focus on your academics, with a Community Learning Center equipped with computers and wireless printing located right on the first floor.
Scotland, England, France at Rute Quad

Feel like you're seeing triple? England, Scotland, and France Houses are mirror images of one another! All offer double style rooms with private bathrooms, and if you can't decide which best friend to live with, triple rooms are also available! Conveniently located in the Runte Quad, these halls are just a few steps from multiple dining options and the Student Recreation Center.
Residences on the Elizabeth

Welcome to Old Dominion University's Residences on The Elizabeth! Whitehurst Hall and Powhatan Apartments are located just off of the Elizabeth River, offering gorgeous waterside views. Just outside is Whitehurst Beach, a unique spot on campus where volleyball games, a challenge course, a pier and beautiful sunsets on the water await you!
Owens House

Welcome to our newest addition in Housing in Residence Life, Owens House! Owens House pays homage to the legacy of local civil rights icon and long-time supporter of Old Dominion University, Dr. Hugo A. Owens Sr. Owens House promotes a culture of learning and hosts most of our living-learning communities. In addition to housing 470 students, the building features two large classrooms, project rooms, and ample study spaces. Owens offers both single and double style rooms. One of the most unique features is the customizable furniture which allows students to adjust their space into multiple configurations.
Whitehurst of the Elizabeth

With two six-story towers, Whitehurst Hall houses the largest population of freshmen on campus. This residence hall offers double-style rooms which connect to the neighboring room by a private adjoined bathroom.
Whitehurst Hall is an active community with an open main lobby that serves as a fun and vibrant place to make new friends, watch TV by the fireplace, or even play a game of foosball! The main lobby is a popular place for large social events, but Whitehurst Hall also features smaller community spaces great for studying and small gatherings. This great community also hosts one of our dining halls, Legends.
Powhatan Apartments on the Elizabeth

Bordering the West side of campus, Powhatan Apartments is just a short walk to the Elizabeth River at Whitehurst Beach. Each apartment offers two double rooms and is designed with one and one half bathrooms, a living and dining area and full kitchen.
All apartments have a fully furnished bedroom, dining room, and living room. Powhatan offers a central front desk, multipurpose community room, and is a great place to enjoy the outdoors at one of many gazebos.
Rogers & Gresham at Colley Bay

Rogers and Gresham Halls, each house more than 350 students between their East and Main buildings. Residents of these communities enjoy double-style rooms which connect to the neighboring room by a private adjoined bathroom. Rogers and Gresham offer modern lounge spaces that provide great community spaces for spending time with friends. Computer labs are also available, offering students a quiet space to focus on academics.
Foundation House

The Foundation House is a unique cooperative living option for nine academically talented female Virginia residents. Qualified residents receive a room scholarship which pays for most costs associated with the occupancy, maintenance, and operation of the Foundation House. Applicants must demonstrate high academic promise and financial need, and an application is required. Residents are responsible for the cost of a full meal plan and a small semester room fee.
The Village

Welcome to Monarch Way! Home to the Village Apartments, the residents of Monarch Way enjoy living at its finest.
The ODU Inn offers double and triple-style rooms. Residents of this community enjoy closeness to the New Education building, Gornto Teletechnet Center, and the Chartway Arena.
The University Village is the perfect balance of an on-campus lifestyle in an apartment environment. The University Village offers single rooms in apartments that house 2-4 students.
Monarch Way is a great place to grab a bite to eat, enjoy live music at the local coffee spot, or take a trip to the ODU Bookstore to see what's new! The ODU Inn and University Village are in the center of it all!
