Located in a quiet part of southwest Indiana, Oakland City University is a friendly institution of higher learning, with an emphasis on spiritual development. OCU welcomes students of all denominations, but utilizes a General Baptist paradigm to encourage students to apply their studies toward serving those in need in the outside world. Popular majors include Education, and Accounting and Business Management, and the small class sizes and core class requirements help students to experience a well- rounded academic path. Students frequent the Cornwell-Reed Music and Arts Center to perform, watch, and discuss creative expression in various applications. Whether you are interested in trying out for a campus play, taking an elective music class, or majoring in fine arts, chances are, you will spend some time honing your creative skills in this building. The department prides itself on providing students with aesthetic awareness, and the ability to think subjectively and verbalize their opinions about the applied arts.

If you are considering applying for admission to OCU, you will likely pay a visit to the Murray Administration Center. Here, you can ask questions to one of the expert Admissions Office staff members to get a better sense of how you would fit in to the campus and academic life of OCU. For a better idea of day-to-day life on campus, you can ask an admissions officer to connect you with a tour guide, who will show you around campus.

The Chapman Seminary houses one of the three chapels on campus. As part of the core curriculum, OCU students are required to take a class here on the New Testament, and another on either philosophy or the Old Testament. If you are interested in pursuing a degree in ministry, you would take much of your coursework in the Chapman Seminary.

The Barger-Richardson Resource Center, also known as the library, is a four-story building brimming with resources to support OCU's academic mission. In addition to its print collection, the library offers connections to a number of digital and public access catalogs, indexes and search engines. Students and faculty can even send research questions to the Barger-Richardson librarians, who will contact them via email or phone with an answer or suggestion.

The Kennedy Center is one of the newest buildings on campus. Students are able to enrich their science and education studies with access to new the state-of-the-art laboratories and classroom amenities. The teachers in these departments aim to empower students to think critically, and become active problem- solvers in their fields.

Provance Memorial Chapel, most commonly referred to as "The Chapel," is housed in a large blue pyramid-shaped structure that can be spotted from across campus. It is the primary campus chapel, and hosts a number of musical guests and speakers at its lively, student-friendly services. The Southern Gospel Singing Group is one of the chapel's most popular and engaging campus clubs, which demonstrates the university's gregarious nature, as well as its spiritual commitment.

Built in 1987, the Johnson Center is home to a 1,600 seat basketball and volleyball court. Students and alumni fondly remember this space as the former host of numerous NCCAA Divison I Basketball Championships, most recently in 2011. The gymnasium also hosts a number of concerts, events, and the OCU graduation ceremonies.

The Brower-Suhrheinrich Student Life Center, also known as the SLC, is a multi-faceted facility of the OCU community. The building features a number of classrooms and club offices, including those for Student Government, Business Professionals of America, and the Student Christian Association. If you are interested in getting your adrenaline pumping between study sessions, the lower level of the SLC also features a weight room, open to students, faculty and staff.

Dearing Hall and the School of Education are connected in this building near the center of campus. Here, you will find housing for male upperclassmen, as well as a large communal lounge area with comfortable couches and TVs. The adjacent School of Education Building hosts one of the university's most popular programs, which has yielded a number of successful practicing teachers to the surrounding communities of southwest Indiana.

The Tichenor Center is an open gymnasium space, often used for intramural sports, and physical education coaching. The building is home to 10 offices for PE staff members, and four private locker rooms. Whether you are interested in playing a pick-up game of ball, cheering on some friends at an intramural match, or taking a course in the Physical Education Department, the Tichenor Center has something to offer for students with all different interests and skill sets.
