Welcome to Northeastern University School of Law! Before we get started, let me explain how to explore our law school, just a short walk from this quad in the center of the Northeastern campus, as well as the Northeastern University stop on the MBTA Green Line – or "T" for short. Dockser Hall

Northeastern University School of Law keeps with the university's tradition of innovation and cooperative legal education is the cornerstone of our program. "Co-op" is a unique approach to educating lawyers that blends both theory and practice. Students on co-op collaborate with working lawyers or judges on the bench, performing actual legal work and making in impact in a variety of practice settings. Co-op allows students to tailor their experiences to their professional interests and even travel the world to practice. Back on campus, students attend classes in Dockser Hall. It is also the hub of the School of Law, housing many of the next stops on this tour.

Moot Courtroom

The Moot Courtroom is at the center of Dockser Hall. Fully equipped with technology for a class, the layout has a judge's bench, witness stand, prosecution and defendant's tables, jury box and public gallery, the works! This allows students to practice for moot court competitions, give presentations to clients, invite guest speakers to campus, and even attend classes.

Law Clinics

Experiential education at Northeastern isn't just about co-ops. Upper-level students can participate in one or more of the many clinics at Northeastern. Students gain unique insight from faculty mentors while experiencing first-hand the tremendous impact they will have as a lawyer. Students help overturn wrongful convictions from the civil rights era in the Civil Rights and Restorative Justice Clinic, represent non-citizen clients in immigration matters, provide legal guidance to small business owners in the Community Business Clinic and help entrepreneurs participate in the trademark and patent program in the IP CO-LAB.

NuLawLab

Northeastern is proud of its award winning and one-of-a-kind NuLawLab, an innovation laboratory engaging with creative disciplines to create new approaches to legal empowerment. The NuLawLab partners with a variety of individuals and communities to identify unmet legal needs and collaboratively design solutions. Some projects the NuLawLab has tackled include designing the first digital game to teach people how to represent themselves in court; and developing an online resources tool that provides underserved women veterans with information about their legal rights and available benefits. Students in the NuLawLab are also collaborating with architecture, user design and game design students to reimagine the legal system, including courthouses, for self-representation.

Dockser Hall Classroom

This is a classroom in Dockser Hall. There are four levels of seating, with a long desk row and swivel chairs for students to sit in during class. There is a chalkboard and podium for the professor to teach from.

Dockser Hall is also the place where our students go to class. Whether it's in one of our large, lecture-style classrooms, or one of our smaller seminar rooms, each classroom is technologically equipped and encourages collaborative learning. Our faculty provide narrative evaluations and honorifics instead of letter grades; our students are not ranked which promotes collaboration and synergy. Prospective students are able to sit in on a class – typically a first year class – most weekdays, before or after a tour of the law school.

Student Life (Dockser Commons)

This is the Dockser Commons where there are tables and chairs for students to study or socialize at, couch and lounge chairs for more casual gatherings, and seminar rooms off the open space.

Dockser Commons is the hub of the law school. Students hang out with friends, study, and socialize in the Commons. The Cooperative Income Sharing Program (CISP) regularly sells snacks and beverages, including coffee. The proceeds fund stipends for students on co-op while other student organizations host pot lucks or bake sales. Student organizations often table in the Commons, as do bar prep vendors. The Student Bar Association has an office off the Commons as well.

Cargill Hall

Cargill Hall is home to the Office of Academic and Student Affairs, the Academic Success Program and most faculty offices. Faculty members encourage students to drop in for conversations about class assignments, research projects, selecting co-ops and more. Each full-time faculty member arranges office hours convenient to students. This collegial community allows students to make their law school experience their own. Cargill Hall also houses locker rooms for all law students to store their books and personal belongings while on campus. There is also a full kitchen in a quiet lounge for student to use.

Law Library

This is the third floor of the library. There is a help desk with two women, tables and chairs to study and read, and other offices-- including Office of Computer Services.

The Law Library is open to all Northeastern University students, faculty, staff, and alumni/ae. Not only do students on co-op have access to research materials and databases, they also have access to our research librarians who can offer assistance to students grappling with challenging research assignments. Students can choose the study environment that works best for them, whether they prefer a designated quiet floor, or spaces where collaboration and group work is encouraged. The library also houses a computer lab, a sacred space for worship, and a full kitchen for student use.

Center for Co-op and Career Development

Our Cooperative Legal Education Program ("Co-op") guarantees students almost a year of full-time legal work experiences before graduation. No other law school program comes close. In fact, The National Jurist consistently ranks Northeastern the #1 law school for practical training. We have over 900 co-op employers in 40 states and 71 countries. Within the Center for Co-op and Career Development, our attorney-advisors offer individual advising; match students with professional mentors; provide career-oriented programming, including private and public sector on campus interviewing for those coveted summer associate positions, and of course, assist students as they secure co-ops and land their first job as an attorney!

Marino Center

The Marino Center is the largest fitness center on campus and is across the street from the law school. Marino offers everything from cardio equipment and weights to two full-sized basketball courts, a suspended track and even a futsal court. Marino also has a Revolutionz Spin Studio, and group fitness studios where students can practice yoga, or build cardio, sculpt and condition together. Students may also sign up to work with a personal trainer. All instructors and personal trainers are certified and also happen to be Northeastern students. Northeastern also offers intramurals and club sports, plus open swim in the Cabot Center and squash courts at Squashbusters.

Curry Student Center

The Curry Student Center is the "living room" of the University and is a place where all students across campus can come to grab a bite to eat, hang out with friends, or even attend events in our nightclub – the first late-night venue on campus in the country. Curry is also home to the campus bookstore, a food court, and a game room with pool, table tennis and foosball tables. Students can even hang out on the roof deck terrace. Many student orgs table in Curry and the Graduate Student Government Association, the LGBTQA Resource Center, and the Office of Off-Campus Housing have offices here, too.

Centennial Commons

Centennial Common is one of the largest quads on campus. During the warmer months students often congregate here to study, hang out with friends, and enjoy the green space. The Ruggles MBTA station is at one end of the Common. The Orange line "T"-stop, the Commuter Rail, and many local bus routes stop at Ruggles, which is very convenient for those who commute to the law school.
