Welcome to North Broward Preparatory School. Each year we welcome students from Florida and around the world to our extraordinary community of learners. Everything about our 80-acre campus is designed to inspire students from pre-school through twelfth grades. Our Lower School students, pre-school through 5th grade, learn through design thinking led by nurturing creative educators and are encouraged to wonder and explore. Upper School students, in 6th-12 grades, learn to event, develop problem-solving skills and are encouraged to pursue their passions. As part of Nord Anglia Education, the world's premier network of private schools, our students have access to unique opportunities outside of the classroom leading organizations such as MIT, The Juilliard School and UNICEF. Lower School

Our pre-kindergarten through fifth grade is intellectually challenging and designed to address the cognitive, social and emotional needs of students. Teachers take an individualized approach to learning and set targeted goals for each child. The core curriculum includes level appropriate instructional groups and lessons in language arts and mathematics, and theme-based, integrated instruction in social studies and science. Students enjoy a variety of specialty programs including an fine arts, physical education, foreign language, technology and media. Community service projects, character education and civic responsibility woven into various aspects of school life help students understand how they can make a positive impact on the world around them.

At every level, North Broward Prep's teachers combine proven teaching strategies tailored to ignite the potential in every child by promoting individualized learning, creativity, critical thinking and problem solving and develop a love for learning.

Experiences outside of the classroom allow students to build confidence through the arts, athletics, STEAM, languages, and technology. Beginning with our youngest students in our pre-school program, and continuing with our fifth grade students as they transition to our middle school, North Broward Prep students work alongside their classmates and teachers to develop their personal interests and passions as they strive toward academic excellence. Our thoughtfully designed curriculum builds a school-wide culture of thinking through rich learning experiences in critical thinking, inquiry, communication and collaboration.

Our rigorous academic program addresses different learning styles while nurturing critical thinking and developing problem-solving skills. Our students acquire cognitive skills while learning to take risks, work cooperatively and make sound choices. Our classroom environment sparks curiosity and encourages collaboration and communication.

Fine Arts

Our Lower School Fine Arts core curriculum includes experiences in Art, Creative movement, Drama and Music. The Juilliard School embedded curriculum ensures all activities promote active and exploratory learning, ignites creativity, promotes inquiry and reflection and ensures students have meaningful encounters with high quality works of dance, drama and music. Our violin program for students in Kindergarten through fourth grade is connected to the Mandarin language curriculum. This is a unique research-based music learning approach that integrates proven approaches to music learning. It promotes an exceptional musical foundation while developing critical and creative thinkers and plays a central role in our students' academic and musical growth through the combination of singing, ear training, and musical thinking with violin study.

Middle School

North Broward Prep Middle School students are able to choose from over 50 different electives, and language courses including Spanish, French and Mandarin. With just over 300 students in our Middle School, North Broward Prep provides a small classroom learning experience within a larger academic community where students develop confidence and critical thinking and collaboration skills. Students have the opportunity to challenged themselves academically through both honors and AP classes.

Hydrogarden

Students learn about STEAM, conservation and nutrition in the Middle School's hands-on Hydroponic Gardens. Hydroponics is the science of cultivating plants in a nutrient-rich solution instead of soil, where the water does the "work" of delivering nutrients to the plant's roots. This is award-winning program has be recognized three time as a national winner in the Lexus Eco-Challenge.

Learning Commons

Our modern Learning Commons space allows classes to connect and share, and provides 4 small-group rooms for student collaboration. A full-size classroom offers librarians space to teach research and reading classes, and our space has both quiet study and collaborative zones for students. North Broward Prep offers approximately 20,000 books and over 100,000 ebooks across various platforms. We have a significant overdrive fiction ebook and audiobook collection for students in Pre-K through 12th grade. Middle and High School students visit regularly throughout the year, learning how to research, cite, evaluate, and legally use information for their classes.

With just over 900 students in our High School and a student teacher ratio of 18 to 1, our students receive a truly personalized learning experience that prepares them to succeed. At North Broward Prep, learning takes many paths. Sports Venues

Our state-of-the-art Global Wellness Center is not only a place for athletics but is also designed to give students the tools they need to develop lifelong wellness strategies. Speakers and events at the center focus on physical and emotional health, mindfulness and stress management, and cultivating a global mindset. The Global Wellness Center includes ten academic classrooms, an athletic training center, yoga studios, new gymnasium, multi-purpose wellness rooms and a weight training room.

International Village Residence Hall

As part of our boarding program, your child will have extended opportunities to utilize North Broward Prep's outstanding academic programs, state-of-the-art facilities and robust curricula, within our engaging and thoughtful learning community. Our students are provided a home away from home experience with a variety of academic, cultural and personal learning experiences among an extraordinary community of learners. Uniting students from over 25 countries, we celebrate difference and encourage cross-cultural understanding. And as part of Nord Anglia's Global Campus, we give day and boarding students the opportunity to gain an international perspective by connecting with their 50,000 peers around the world.

International Village Suite

Boarding students live on campus in our brand new, state of the art International Village boarding facility. Housing two students per bedroom, the building is complete with its own lounge/snack area, common area, study area, laundry facilities, Wi-Fi, and other amenities designed to foster a sense of community. Three healthy and complete meals, created by chefs and certified nutritionists, are served to students each day. Entertainment awaits once classes end on Friday. Whether it's going to the beach, watching a baseball game or visiting a museum, students always feel fulfilled on weekends. Outings are planned with interests in mind, and offer great opportunities for residents to make lifelong friendships.

International Village Common Area

The International Village is supervised by experienced, adult staff members who live in-residence and are available to support the social and emotional well-being of boarding students at any time of day. Professional security systems are also used to ensure students stay safe at all hours of the day. Students have access to an on-site medical clinic, registered nurses, school counselors, and outside physicians to address all student health concerns. Additionally, parents are always able to reach a member of our staff 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Dining Hall - High School

The Upper School dining hall provides a collegiate experience to our High School students. Chef-run company FLIK instituted our Healthy Foods program, where a new menu item is featured each month. Students learn about different nutritional items and see how it is incorporated in different foods throughout the month, while learning how to make sound dietary choices for a lifetime. All meals are made from scratch, with the majority of our produce being locally sourced. Our students also have the opportunity to provide input on what is served, giving them a voice in a different aspect of the student experience.

College Advising

Our philosophy is to help our students find a great university that is the right fit for each student. As a college preparatory school, our curriculum from Pre-K through 12th grade focuses on the skills and dispositions students need to be successful in college and beyond. Beginning with our earliest learners, we guide are students on a personal journey beyond the classroom that includes co-curricular activities, clubs and community service projects. Then in Middle School, our students work with a College Advisor to create a comprehensive, individualized program to help them identify and apply to colleges and universities that match their needs and aspirations.
