Welcome to Miami University, a Public Ivy school in Oxford, Ohio, and home of the RedHawks! Founded in 1809, Miami is one of the oldest public universities in the nation, and the second oldest university in Ohio. Today Miami enjoys many top rankings for its campus, its undergraduate teaching, academic programs, and value. It has also recently been recognized for its "best salary potential after graduation" among other higher ed institutions in the state. Join me now and explore just a few of the highlights of our historic Oxford campus, just 35 miles north of Cincinnati.

Psychology Building

The Psychology Building houses the classes, offices and labs of Miami's Psychology Department – one of the University's largest. Here researchers and graduate students embark on one of three tracks: Clinical, Social or Brain and Cognitive Science. Thousands of undergraduates take Psychology courses here; about one third of them Psych majors. The building also houses an operational Psychology Clinic where students and community members can receive therapy, assessments and counseling from students under the supervision of licensed clinical psychologists.

Farmer School of Business

The building you're looking at is headquarters for Miami's Farmer School of Business. Here students take part in some of the top-ranked business programs in the nation, including the acclaimed Entrepreneurship Program, which ranks among the country's 20 best. Miami's Mock Trial Program, part of the Farmer School, has produced national championship teams. The building features high-tech classrooms and lecture spaces, study areas, a library and a food court, enabling students to work and attend classes throughout the day without having to go elsewhere. ¬¬¬

Hughes Laboratories

The Hughes Laboratories are located in Hughes Hall, home to the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry. The Laboratories provide 80,000 square feet of modern instructional and research space and feature chemical hoods, digital drawing boards, and a newly-renovated lecture hall. Also inside the building are the Instrumental Laboratory and the Office of Environmental Health and Safety. Miami's science library is located just across the street.

Batchelor Hall

Bachelor Hall is where you'll come to attend a range of Math and English classes and labs. In addition to instructional and administrative spaces for these two departments, the Hall houses the Junior Scholars Program, the Speech and Hearing Clinic, and the Chair of Communications and Theatre.

Shriver Center

The Shriver Center is one of the main gathering and dining hubs on campus. After some renovation in late 1980's and early 90's, the Center received awards for its architecture. You might come here for a meal, a meeting, or to visit the University Bookstore. The Center offers up a traditional food court, restaurant-style dining and a market with ready-to-go foods and beverages. The bookstore is your one-stop for, textbooks, dorm furniture, class supplies, gifts and University apparel.

Upham Hall

Upham Hall is one of Miami's major academic buildings and home to the College of Arts and Sciences. The large Colonial brick structure typifies the architecture of the University in the heart of campus. A hanging lantern and the Upham Hall Arch are two widely-recognized Miami symbols. The Arch, dedicated to former University President Alfred H. Upham, along with the building, displays an engraving that reads: "Ye shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free." Students, staff and faculty frequently pass under the arch throughout the day to access the other side of campus.

Roudebush Hall

Roudebush Hall, built in 1956, contain the offices of several of Miami's key decision-makers including the President, Provost, and staffs of Academic Affairs and Personnel. You can stop by to check out on-campus job opportunities here or online with the Department of Human Resources.

Bell Tower Place

Bell Tower Place, located in residential Ogden Hall, is one of the University's prime dining destinations. Here you can grab a coffee and breakfast to go, build your own noodle dish, or sit down with friends to a steak dinner. There are plenty of options to choose from including vegan and vegetarian meals. Bell Tower Place features both a large indoor seating area and an outdoor plaza café.

King Library

King Library is Miami's main library, housing collections in the Humanities, Social Sciences and Business. In addition to print and digital items, King features an Interactive Media Studies Lab, several CIM study rooms (for your audio/visual and podcasting projects), a range of group and quiet study spaces, and graduate and faculty reading rooms. Computer workstations are available on the first and second floors. As an enrolled student, you can also borrow laptops, tablets, cameras and presentation equipment here as well. If you're looking for a change of study scene or need to refuel, the King Café is located on the ground floor. Three additional libraries on campus offer targeted reference materials in Science, Music, Art & Architecture, respectively.

Engineering Building

The School of Engineering and Applied Science is located here in the Engineering Building and the adjacent Benton Hall. The school offers majors ranging from Bioengineering to Computer Science and features the latest technology and equipment. Large labs allow students to gain hands-on experience from computer renderings to machine operation.
