We're at the Sundial, a very special place on campus that highlights our campus beauty and one of our longest standing traditions, since our founding in 1809. Rubbing the turtles on this sundial provides good luck to all of our students who are headed to a test or exam. This university and its traditions are all tied to the people who call it home. And the experiences span well beyond the classroom.

Oxford

A big part of the Miami experience is our off-campus area known as "uptown" Oxford. Recently cited by Travel Trivia as the Most Beautiful U.S. College Town, Oxford, Ohio, is a small community with around 7,000 year-round residents. For 9 months, Oxford is filled with the vibrant energy of 18,000 Miami University students. On the famous brick-lined High Street you'll find delicious restaurants and quirky shops. Surrounded by miles of generational family farms, Oxford boasts an award-winning farmers market, numerous arts organizations, and miles of hiking trails. We're 15 minutes from Hueston Woods State Park, and only an hour from the cities of Cincinnati or Dayton.

The Armstrong Student Center is the hub of student life and activities on campus. With more than 600 student organizations, it's home to the Center for Student Diversity and Inclusion, which develops programs and procedures to enhance the academic success and personal development of diverse student populations. You'll also find The Cliff Alexander Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life here. Miami is known as the Mother of Fraternities with four national fraternities and one national sorority founded on this campus. Today, the university hosts more than 50 fraternity and sorority chapters including 7 of the 9 Divine Nine historically black fraternities and sororities as well as the Multicultural Greek Council. Some other offices in this facility include the Office of Student Activities, the Commuter Resource Center, and the *Wilks* Institute for Leadership and Service.

Much of this success stems from the work done by our team in the Center for Career Exploration and Success, who are working with students beginning their first day on campus.

Welcome to the Recreational Sports Center where students have access to a variety of exercise equipment and classes, basketball and racquetball courts, a pro shop, a rock climbing wall, and the world class Corwin Nixon Aquatic Center. This is only one of the many recreational facilities open for student use. Others include tennis courts, sand volleyball courts, a gymnastics facility, a disc golf course, and the recently upgraded John Browne Equestrian Center.

Miami University has 19 Division 1 athletic programs and a proud history of graduating champions. We're known as the Cradle of Coaches for the storied and recent success of Miamians who have seen amazing success as football coaches. We've seen our teams advance to Frozen Fours and Sweet Sixteen appearances, even producing Olympic medalists. Our Synchronized Figure Skating Team holds an NCAA record, winning 12 straight national championships, with more than 20 in the program's history. Students can cheer on any RedHawk team without any additional cost, gaining entrance to any home contest.

This is the new $96 million Clinical Health Sciences and Wellness building, which is home to the Nursing program, Speech Pathology and Audiology program and clinic, our Physicians Associate program, as well as classes in our department of Kinesiology, Nutrition, and Health. It also houses our state-of-the-art Student Health and Wellness facility. Student Health Services provides outpatient care to all eligible Miami students. Staff includes full-time physicians, certified nurse practitioners, and nursing staff whose services include general medicine and injury care, gynecology, immunizations, laboratory, physical therapy, and psychiatry.

Miami University Honors College produces citizen scholars who emerge from their honors education equipped not only with a lifelong love of learning, but also a lifelong commitment to use their talents, interests, and ambitions to advance the common good. The Honors College offers unique courses, Honors-exclusive study abroad programs, opportunities for faculty mentorship, and a supportive residential experience in which students thrive. We're now in Benton Hall, home to Miami's nationally ranked Engineering and Computing programs. Our Paper Science program is world-renowned and we are also one of only a few schools in the country offering a Bachelor of Science in Robotics Engineering. Our students learn theory and practice it in the labs early on in their collegiate careers. Our computing students are highly recognized for their practice skills as well, recently ranked number two in the country for student technical skills in coding, second only to MIT.

The Farmer School of Business is traditionally recognized as one of the best public business schools in the country. A unique, historical, and incredibly beautiful spot at Miami is Western Campus, formerly Western College for Women. It's home to our Western Program for Individualized Studies, which allows students to develop a unique plan of study. Western Campus is also home to our Honors College; Western Dining Commons; Kumler Chapel, which has seen thousands of weddings of alums; and the Freedom Summer Memorial, which honors a summer in 1964 when hundreds of college students trained to end the prevailing discriminatory and segregated voting system in the South through increased voter registration of African Americans.

We're in the center of campus, known as the hub. Miami University has over 200 years of excellence and traditions. The Upham Arch highlights a tradition of love and honor. Kissing your loved one under the arch at midnight binds you together forever. Miami is thought to have the largest percentage of married alumni, known as Miami Mergers. In 2009, Miami broke the Guinness World Record for the most people renewing their wedding vows at once under the Upham Arch. Our seal holds another well known tradition. Any current student who steps on the seal is doomed to fail their next exam. Of course that luck can be reversed by visiting the Sundial and rubbing the turtle heads.

The Shriver Center is our resource hub. It's home to the Admission Visit Center, Brick and Ivy Bookstore, the Rinella Learning Center, and the Miller Center for Student Disability Services. Our building's namesake, Dr. Phillip Shriver, coined a phrase still honored by our community today. "All roads don't lead to Oxford. To get here you have to want to get here. But once you're here you never want to leave."
