Learning and growth at Muhlenberg take place as much outside the classroom as in it. Our living environment teaches students real-world skills including resiliency, self-advocacy and communication. Here you’ll have the guidance and support of a team of mentors dedicated to helping you achieve your goals. With on-campus housing guaranteed all four years, you’ll make friends that will last a lifetime and find your perfect space in our first-year residence halls. There are also suite-style housing, apartments, and houses for sophomores, juniors and seniors.

Athletics and Staying Active

Athletics are a big part of the Muhlenberg experience. Twenty-two Muhlenberg Division III teams compete in the Centennial Conference and regularly bring home championships. Students also love our intramural and club sports. We’re standing in the Life Sports Center, where you’ll attend games, matches, tournaments, concerts, and celebrations. The building also houses our Health Center and Counseling Services to ensure you are caring for yourself and have the support you need. By participating in Muhlenberg varsity, club and intramural athletics or by accessing the many resources these facilities offer, you’ll develop leadership skills, build meaningful connections, and invest in your health and well-being. So, take a plunge into our 25-meter, six-lane swimming pool or hop onto a cycle at our free spin classes. Go Mules!

Inclusion and Belonging

At Muhlenberg, inclusion and belonging are woven into everything we do. Our Office of Multicultural Life celebrates and supports our students’ cultures, identities, races, and ethnicities through resources and programming. The Campus Living Room Project creates opportunities to come together with fellow students to discuss challenging issues. The Leffell Center for Jewish Student Life hosts weekly Shabbat services and dinner and other religious and cultural traditions, which are open to all students. There are also opportunities to participate in events and religious observances at our historic Egner Chapel. Our campus is a place where you’ll be seen, known, and celebrated for all that you are, and where you’ll have the opportunity to connect with students, faculty, and staff from across the country and around the world.

Sciences

More than 25 percent of Muhlenberg students pursue a Bachelor of Science degree. If you’re interested in science, you’ll get hands-on research experience in facilities like our cell culture biology labs, greenhouse, herbarium and USDA-approved mosquito-rearing room. Our summer research program gives you the chance to spend eight weeks pursuing your own research in areas like neuroscience, biology, chemistry, public health and more with the guidance of faculty who are leaders in their fields. For those interested in a health sciences career, Muhlenberg provides the rigorous academics and preparation needed to take you there. In the past five years, 87 percent of Muhlenberg graduates who applied to medical school were admitted and 91% of those who applied to dental school were admitted.

Performing and Visual Arts

Creativity and innovation are in Muhlenberg’s DNA. Home to leading theatre and dance programs, at Muhlenberg it’s common for an economics major to minor in dance or for a studio arts major to study environmental science. You’ll have a chance to immerse yourself in the Lehigh Valley’s vibrant art, music and food scene and attend performances by world-class artists and musicians. Our Martin Art Gallery hosts exhibitions by visiting artists and by students, faculty and staff. You’ll find student-led premiers of new works and attend unique events like our annual In Motion dance concert. No matter your major, you’ll thrive in a community filled with passion, talent, and heart.

Media & Communications and Film Studies

Muhlenberg is home to one of the largest liberal arts film and media programs in the country, where you can work alongside faculty to analyze, research and create media of all forms. With a television studio, computer labs for audio and video production, as well as personalized mentoring and support from our accomplished faculty and staff, here you’ll unlock your creative potential. Students enjoy working on our student-run, non-commercial educational radio station, WMUH 91.7 FM, known as the Only Station that Matters. With specialized courses that cover every facet of filmmaking, you’ll graduate with real-world experience that will make you an industry professional from day one.

Humanities and Social Sciences

Muhlenberg is home to dynamic humanities and social science programs in accounting, business, languages, history, political science and more taught by outstanding faculty. Students can often be found working together on projects in Trexler Library, which is located next to the brand new Fahy Commons, one of the first buildings in the world to achieve the Living Building Challenge Core Green Building Certification. Guest lectures, film screenings, meet-the-author events, as well as themed trivia nights and finals-week meetups extend learning far beyond the classroom. You’ll collaborate in person and virtually at our Language and Culture Commons, and you’ll connect with peers from across the world by using an array of immersive, language-learning experiences.

Less than 90 miles from New York City and only 50 miles from Philadelphia, you’ll enjoy a rich and unique cultural experience in the comfort of a small, close-knit academic community. Skiing and hiking will be in your backyard, and you’ll find one of our nation’s best park systems right here in Allentown. Our partnership in the Lehigh Valley Association of Independent Colleges means students can cross-register for courses as well as attend events, lectures, film screenings and more at five other colleges in the area.
