Welcome to the Keweenaw Peninsula
Tour stop audio transcript
Welcome to Houghton, Michigan, home of Michigan Technological University. Founded in 1885 as the Michigan Mining School during the region's copper mining boom, Michigan Tech has been at the forefront of technological innovation for over 135 years. At Michigan Tech, we're ready for tomorrow. Students build and launch satellites into space, research fruit fly genetics to find treatments for cancer, develop cleaner and smarter autonomous vehicles, found successful tech start-ups, and more. When we're not busy creating the future, we're getting outside to enjoy the beautiful Keweenaw Peninsula. Hike, bike, snowshoe, ski, or snowboard—you can do it all. This is the view from Mont Ripley, Tech's very own ski area.
