Carl J. Murphy Fine Arts Center

Located on the University's South Campus is the Carl J. Murphy Fine Arts Center. Named after the first African-American chairman of Morgan's Board of Regents, the Murphy Fine Arts Center serves as an entertainment destination as well as an affordable venue to experience performance art. The Fine Arts Center is the epicenter for creativity and expression at Morgan providing members of the performing and visual arts communities a platform to showcase their talents. The Center's performance spaces ably accommodate performers and productions that play to thousands at a time, and to acts who prefer the intimate settings of a studio theatre or recital hall. The Center's northeast Baltimore location and accommodations make it an ideal setting for a broad spectrum of performances and events: from Broadway and off-Broadway productions to theatre plays to stand-up comedy; for musical performances ranging from symphony to recital; and for dance performances from chorus lines-to classical ballet-to African dance.

Morgan State University's Office of Residence Life and Housing is an integral part of our students' personal and academic success. In fact, the term "residence hall" has become a source of pride for the dedicated staff that look after our students in their home away from home. Residence Life supports a safe and comfortable living environment that enhances the student experience. The Howard P. Rawlings Residence and Dining Hall is a five-floor, male student only residential facility named in honor of Howard Pete Rawlings, a Morgan alumnus and prominent delegate in the Maryland General Assembly. "Rawlings" as it is affectionately known, is also the home to the Academic Enrichment Program and the main University dining hall. As the campus's primary destination for meals, students dining at Rawlings are treated to a variety of delicious food options, including a southern-style buffet, pizza and pasta stations, a full salad bar, and a dessert table.

Morgan Business Center

This is the Morgan Business Center home of the Earl G. Graves School of Business and Management. The nearly 140,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art facility opened in 2015 and is located on Morgan's West Campus. The Morgan Business Center features modern classrooms, collaborative learning spaces and the technology to help advance student education. Among the building's featured learning environments are a fully operational commercial demonstration kitchen, 10 functional hotel rooms for the business school's hospitality management program, and a cutting-edge Capital Markets Lab that delivers real-time market data feeds, connectivity to exchanges and brokerage houses, and integrated workstations equipped with a simulation trading tool. The School of Business and Management is named in honor of entrepreneur and founder of Black Enterprise Magazine, Morgan alumnus Earl G. Graves, Sr. The school offers a wide range of majors such as Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, Hospitality Management, Information Systems, Management, Marketing, Service and Supply Chain Management, and Entrepreneurship. Degrees are available from the bachelors to doctoral level and the Business, Accounting and Project Management programs are accredited.

Martin D. Jenkins Hall

Also located on Morgan's West Campus is Martin D. Jenkins Hall – Behavioral and Social Sciences Center, home of the University's largest offering of academic programs, the James H. Gilliam, Jr. College of Liberal Arts. The 148,000-square-foot Jenkins Hall is named after Morgan's 6th president Martin D. Jenkins, a pioneering educational psychologist, widely known for his work in the field of African American education, and the College of Liberal Arts is named in honor of the late James H. Gilliam Jr., a prominent lawyer, financier, humanitarian and Morgan graduate. Jenkins Hall, which opened in the fall of 2017, features flexible classrooms for traditional lectures or group learning, a 170-seat auditorium, collaborative open spaces for faculty and students, integrated workspaces that promote interdisciplinary learning, and an instructional design development suite to support the continuing education of Morgan's faculty. Included among the departments housed within the College of Liberal Arts are Economics, Psychology and Psychometrics, Sociology and Anthropology, Political Science, Philosophy and Religious Studies, and Military Science. Did you know that our Army ROTC program has a rich history of producing African American general officers? We're second among all HBCUs in graduates that have advanced to become Army generals.

University Memorial Chapel

The University Memorial Chapel is the center of religious and spiritual life here at Morgan State University and it is dedicated to fulfilling the spiritual, temporal and religious needs of our students, faculty and staff. Born of a rich legacy that embraces the oneness of humankind while affirming denominational and interfaith integrity, the University Memorial Chapel seeks to provide religious instruction and activities that enhance the spiritual health and leadership abilities of the students at Morgan. The Memorial Chapel is a safe place for cooperation and activities for all religious faiths. At Morgan we are committed to fostering understanding between various faith communities. The Chapel also serves as a venue for regular formal worship, for informal religious meetings or conferences, and for weddings and funerals.

Talmadge L. Hill Field House

The Talmadge L. Hill Field House is home to the Morgan men's and women's Bears basketball teams as well as our Lady Bears volleyball team. The arena, which holds up to 4,250 fans, was named in honor of former Morgan professor, athletic director and coach Talmadge L. Hill, who served as the Bears men's head basketball coach from the 1930s to the 1960s. In addition to athletic competition, Hill Field House also hosts many other campus events including concerts, pep rallies, career fairs, Commencement and more. Outside of the main arena, the facility also features weight rooms, training rooms, racquetball courts, the Paws Lab and the Student-Athlete Academic Center. It is also the location of the MSU Athletics Department. In 2017, new LED video displays and a state-of-the-art audio system were installed in the arena to enhance the overall fan experience. University Student Center

Welcome to the heart of student life here at The National Treasure – the University Student Center. With more than a hundred clubs and organizations operating on campus there's always something going on at the Student Center. Here you will find a number of fun and engaging activities taking place, from open mic nights in the theater and informative workshops to presentations from the various fraternities, sororities and social fellowship organizations. The Student Center is hands down the hub for all student activity on campus, including catching up with friends at the Cyber Café or the Bear Cave Lounge, or handling your personal finances at the onsite PNC Bank. Whether you're looking for news and updates at the Information Desk, getting a few competitive games in between classes at the game room, or grabbing a bite to eat from Chick-Fil-A or Auntie Anne's, the University Student Center is where it all goes down. Oh, and if you're looking for some cool Morgan gear or supplies, be sure to stop by our Barnes and Nobles Bookstore. That's right, it's all available at the University Student Center right here in the heart of Morgan Commons.

Earl S. Richardson Library

If you're looking for a great place to study or go over class notes, look no further than the Earl S. Richardson Library. Named in honor of Dr. Earl S. Richardson, our University's 9th inaugurated president, the Richardson Library's 222,000-square-foot facility anchors Morgan Commons and features computer labs and study spaces, conference rooms, collaborative workspaces...and of course, books and media to support student academics and research. On the first floor of the Library, you'll find three computer labs and a room designated for large group tutoring sessions. On the second and third floor, there are a bevy of rooms for small student-group study sessions or meetings. The fourth floor of the library's access is limited; it houses the Presidential Suite and is reserved for the President's press conferences, the University Board of Regent Meetings and other administrative sessions.

Hughes Memorial Stadium

If you want to see a Bears football game, experience a real HBCU marching band performance or take in some competitive track and field, the only place to do so on campus is at the W.A.C. Hughes Memorial Stadium. The Stadium was named in honor of William Alfred Carroll Hughes Sr., the 'father of Morgan football,' while the playing field is named for legendary Morgan coach Earl C. Banks. Football season home games are truly a Morgan Family Affair, as students, staff, faculty and alumni fill the seats to watch the Bears take on their Division one rivals in the Mid-Eastern Atlantic Conference, while the Magnificent Marching Machine, Foxy Ladies and Cheer Bears pump up the crowd. In 2019, the football field underwent a major enhancement that included an entirely new premium playing surface and a new-high performance, all-weather Olympic caliber track for runners. In the offseason, the University also holds its annual Spring Commencement at Hughes Stadium. So, whether you are wearing your Morgan Blue and Orange at a game or your cap and gown during graduation, we'll see you at the Stadium!

Truth Hall

Welcome to Truth Hall, named in honor of abolitionist and women's rights activist Sojourner Truth. Originally built as a women's residence hall, this building was converted into an administration building in 1979. Located on the historic Academic Quad, Truth Hall houses the offices of the University President, senior administration officials and support staff. A lot of key decision-making takes place within this building. Outside of Truth's doors, the Academic Quad serves as the epicenter for academic activity and student assembly on a warm day. Bustling with life, students traverse the Quad daily moving to and from class, and occasionally participating in impromptu outdoor study-sessions. The Quad is surrounded by a number of historic buildings including the University's most iconic building, Holmes Hall.

The Jenkins Building (Quad)

The original Jenkins Building is nestled on the west side of the Academic Quad. The building currently houses the School of Community Health and Policy's Nutritional Sciences and Nursing programs, along with the Nursing program's Simulation Lab. Jenkins on the Quad is also where you will find the Clara I. Adams Honors College, named in honor of the legacy of Dr. Clara Adams, a former dean of the School of Graduate Studies and vice president for Academic Affairs at Morgan. The mission of the Honors College is to recruit, retain, and graduate students who have demonstrated scholarly accomplishment, high motivation, and a desire to achieve at the highest levels.

Banneker Hall

Banneker Hall serves as the home of the School of Education and Urban Studies and is named in honor of Benjamin Banneker, an inventor and Maryland native, best known for making the first striking clock completely built in America and as a surveyor who assisted drafting the layout for Washington D.C. Located on our Academic Quad, Banneker Hall is a part of the collective of historic buildings that helped Morgan earn its National Treasure designation. It is also where you will find the school's three main departments – Advanced Studies, Leadership and Policy, Family and Consumer Sciences, and Teacher Education and Professional Development, as well as the Center for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Education. The School of Education and Urban Studies' primary mission is to prepare a culturally and ethnically diverse student body to serve, with distinction, in the field of education and urban studies.

Richard N. Dixon Science Research Center

Morgan's Research Center was named in honor of Morgan graduate and Maryland's first African-American state treasurer – Richard N. Dixon. The building connects to the neighboring Science Complex, by way of an overhead bridge, and houses advanced scientific research laboratories to support the University's academic and research programs in the biological and physical sciences. Students from the School of Computer, Mathematical and Natural Sciences frequent these halls and laboratories. It also features a greenhouse facility that faculty and students use to conduct plant science technology training, education and research. The School of Computer, Mathematical and Natural Sciences is among the top 25 schools in the nation for the production of African Americans with bachelor's degrees in biological science, and among the top 50 in computer and information sciences.

Communication Center

Are you interested in a career in broadcast journalism? Or how about public relations? If so, you can take courses to major in either concentration at the Communications Center, home of the School of Global Journalism and Communication. The building, which opened in 2013, houses the departments of Multimedia Journalism, Multiplatform Production, and Strategic Communication. It is also within this building that you will find the "Voice of the Community" W.E.A.A., the on-campus produced public radio station, and Bear TV, a student-operated television station for the university community. You can also find the student run Strategy Shop and Spokesman Newspaper staff, along with the Promethean Yearbook team hard at work in these halls. The School of Global Journalism and Communication is a vital gateway for students who seek to pursue a mass media career in the 21st century's global village.

Engineering Complex

When it comes to Morgan's popular and nationally recognized Engineering program, it requires some space on campus. Located on the University's North Campus, the Engineering Complex is actually comprised of two different buildings – the Clarence M. Mitchell Jr. School of Engineering and also the William Donald Schaefer Building. The Engineering Complex serves as the home to the School of Engineering. The Engineering Complex houses 16 teaching laboratories and five research laboratories equipped with state-of-the-art technology for engineering instruction and research. The School of Engineering is comprised of four departments: Civil Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Industrial and Systems Engineering and Transportation and Urban Infrastructure Studies. The School of Engineering is consistently ranked in the top ten nationally for the number of bachelor's degrees and doctoral degrees awarded to African Americans.

Center for the Built Environment and Infrastructure Studies

Welcome to the Center of the Built Environment and Infrastructure Studies (CBEIS – pronounced See-Bis), a 126,000-square-foot, Gold LEED certified shared facility for academic engineering and design programs at Morgan State University. CBEIS houses research and instructional programs for the School of Architecture and Planning and the School of Engineering's Civil Engineering, Transportation Studies, and the National Transportation Center, in a highly collaborative environment. CBEIS is a gateway building on the northern-most edge of the Morgan State campus. The building provides a link between the urban setting along Perring Parkway and the natural landscape of the Herring Run. Some of the CBEIS building features include studios and computer labs, study rooms, conference rooms, jury rooms, a fabrication shop, atrium spaces with skylights, lounges, a green roof and an adjacent parking garage. Situated deep within reinforced walls of CBEIS, you can also find an earthquake simulator - which can go up to 8.0 on the Richter scale. Morgan is one of only two public institutions in Maryland that has a School of Architecture and Planning and the only historically black college or university offering programs in Architecture, Landscape Architecture, and City and Regional Planning.

Baltimore City

Morgan State University's beautiful campus is conveniently located in Northeast Baltimore City and is accessible to other major cities along the east coast making it easy to get here by air, rail and highway. And once you are here, the city is easily walkable, or as we say, "in Baltimore, you're just two feet away from everything." And there's just so much to see or do in Baltimore. You can experience one of the City's many offerings such as world class museums, ... the Baltimore Symphony... great jazz clubs... ethnic festivals... fabulous restaurants... major league sports... shopping and sightseeing at Harbor East or the "heart of the City" the Inner Harbor. And if the Inner Harbor is the City's heart, then its many diverse neighborhoods are its soul. The city is divided among lively communities, each with a distinct personality – from the cobblestone-lined waterfront of Fell's Point to kitschy Hampden; historic Federal Hill to trendy Harbor East; the cultural hub of Mount Vernon to Canton, Pigtown and the Station North, Bromo Tower and Highlandtown arts and entertainment districts. Baltimore City has a charm of its own and maybe that's why a number of Morgan students never leave after graduation.
