You can succeed at Montgomery College. At MC, you'll find the tools, support, flexibility, and convenience to help you fulfill your goals. Raptor Central is located in the Charlene R. Nunley Student Services Center, which is named after the College's sixth president. Here, staff can help you apply to MC, register for classes, complete financial aid forms, and more. The Financial Aid Office is also in the Nunley building, and is an important stop for students and parents to learn about how to pay for college.

Transportation at MC

Free WiFi-equipped shuttle buses run between campuses throughout the day. Students can also take the Maryland Ride On buses free of charge by showing their student ID. MC is close to both the Silver Spring and Takoma Metro stops on the Red Line. The Takoma Park/Silver Spring Campus has three bus stops and two parking garages. An emergency phone system is located throughout the campus, Public Safety officers are on duty 24/7, and a 24-hour security escort service is available upon request.

Pavillion Four (P4)

The Institute for Race, Justice, and Civic Engagement, also known as the IRJC, is located on the second floor of Pavilion 4. The IRJC is a hub for students who are interested in community and civic engagement. Students are able to study, interact, and simply allowed to be themselves. The IRJC provides many resources including a social justice library; computers, printers, and supplies; a food and clothing pantry, and academic advising and tutoring.

Scott Commons building is a resource for students taking courses in the humanities, social sciences, and world languages. The center also provides support for the economics, education, and health programs. MC has a vibrant and lively campus community, with students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds. MC enrolls approximately 60,000 students each year, and the student clubs, cultural programs, and events on campus reflect a wide range of interests. Whatever your passion, there's a place for you here at MC. You can get involved in student government, sports teams, the student newspaper or radio station, or you can start your own club. Montgomery College has three campuses. Each campus has a store, library, computer labs, fitness facilities, spaces for lectures and concerts, and cafeterias.

Student Resources in the Nunley Center

The Charlene R. Nunley Student Services Center is the place to go for students. It houses the largest campus computer lab, the cafeteria, lounges, and conference rooms. MC students enjoy areas for clubs to meet and can learn about volunteer opportunities with the Service Learning Program. The center offers convenient access to the Offices of Enrollment Services, Assessment and Testing, Counseling and Advising, Career and Educational Planning, Financial Aid, the Cashier, and the Campus Store. The center is also home to the offices of the Vice President and Provost, the Dean of Student Affairs, Student Life, and Public Safety.

Health Sciences Center (HC)

The Health Sciences Center houses credit and noncredit health science programs, designed to meet the needs of health care providers in the area. You can study nursing, diagnostic medical sonography, radiologic technology, polysomnography, health information management, surgical technology, physical therapy, and more. MC's health science programs have a proven track record of producing successful graduates. Year after year, MC students earn high pass rates on state boards, licensure, registry, and certification exams. Some of the fastest-growing occupations in the US are in health care. And the MC education is so effective, many of our students receive job offers before they even graduate.

Health Sciences Facilities

The Health Sciences Center has state-of-the-art facilities. You will learn and master skills in a facility that surpasses those of many four-year universities, and in some cases, DC-area health care facilities. You will gain hands-on experience in cutting edge campus labs, including hospital simulation labs. You first learn nursing skills on anatomically correct mannequins staged for real-life hospital scenarios. They even talk and say ouch! And every year, a mock emergency situation is staged so that students can experience high-pressure circumstances. Hands-on learning opportunities also take place in clinical settings. MC has partnerships with multiple prestigious health care organizations in the DC area.

Holy Cross Health Center

MC partners with Holy Cross Hospital to operate a community health clinic for patients who do not have access to affordable health care. Students work side by side with college faculty as Holy Cross Hospital personnel see patients and serve as clinical adjunct faculty. The health care industry offers very good job prospects. If you enroll in any of the health science programs at Montgomery College, you will be trained for a profession in one of the fastest growing industries in the United States.

The Morris and Gwendolyn Cafritz Foundation Arts Center (CF)

The Morris and Gwendolyn Cafritz Foundation Arts Center is the centerpiece for the visual arts on the Takoma Park/Silver Spring Campus. The center is home to MC's visual arts programs and has three galleries—the King Street Gallery, the Open Gallery, and the Maze Gallery. Students in the visual arts programs benefit from an intensive studio art practice. Within each art degree program, you can also choose to focus on a variety of areas depending on your goals.

Cultural Arts Center (CU)

The Cultural Arts Center is a hub for performing arts and film for the Takoma Park and Silver Spring area. The Center's mission is to improve cultural literacy and encourage cross-cultural understanding. The Center has a 500-seat concert hall and theatre to showcase a wide variety of performances. In addition, the Center has a theatre laboratory, the George and Ruth Tretter Dance Studio, the Cultural Arts Center Gallery, a film-editing lab, and classrooms.

The Cultural Arts Center is the home for the performing arts on the Takoma Park/Silver Spring Campus. In addition to featuring a wide-range of performances by renowned professional artists, the Center also features talented performing arts students in multiple productions. Students rehearse in specialty classrooms, which include a large, glass-walled dance studio and a 16 station piano lab with individual keyboards. But it is crucial that students have time to perfect their craft on stage in front of an audience. Each year, MC produces two to three theatre productions and two dance performances in the Cultural Arts Center. I hope to see you there!
