Rosenstiel School of Marine, Atmospheric, and Earth Science

The Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science is one of the leading academic oceanographic and atmospheric research institutions in the world. Here, students work alongside faculty researchers to investigate our oceans, study marine life with strategies like shark-tagging, understand weather phenomena such as climate change, and dive into other issues of global importance. A few miles from the main campus, the Rosenstiel School has its own campus on Virginia Key. The satellite campus is home to dozens of labs, including the world's first hurricane simulator capable of generating category-5 hurricane-force winds, as well as the school's flagship research vessel and helicopter.

As one of the first large-scale simulation centers of its kind in the U.S, nursing students at the U gain experiences like no other. Every year, students work alongside professors to produce a full season of plays and musicals that are rehearsed and performed right here on campus, immersing students in a hands-on theatrical experience in a pre-professional setting. Theatre Arts alumni include Sylvester Stallone and Tony-award nominated Joshua Henry, who played Aaron Burr in the national tour of Hamilton. Residential College

Lifelong memories and friendships are made at our residential colleges. Our residential communities include live-in faculty and supportive student and staff advisors for an experience that encourages involvement, and offers a variety of programming, from seminars and lectures to field trips, ice cream socials, and movie nights. All non-local first-year students are required to live on campus. Students can request to live with a friend, or fill out a questionnaire and let us match you with someone based on interests, study habits, and lifestyle. There is also the option to select gender-inclusive housing. Most residential colleges have a nearby dining hall – all of which have vegetarian, vegan and kosher options. Meal plans can be used at dining halls or dining locations across campus.

Lowe Arts Museum

The Lowe Art Museum is a University of Miami gem! Free for all students, it is the first and largest collecting art museum in South Florida. The Lowe houses a broad collection, including historic and contemporary art from Asia, Africa, Europe, and the Americas. Art students make The Lowe their classroom, literally, with the innovative ArtLab @ The Lowe class. Drawing from the Lowe's permanent collection, over the course of a semester, the class curates a real exhibit that will remain on display for the year.
