McLennan Community College, or MCC, sits on 230 scenic acres near the Bosque River in Waco, Texas. Students pursue two-year associate degrees in the arts and sciences, with the intention of transferring to four-year schools. MCC partners with six universities so that you can actually pursue a four- year degree right on campus! If you plan on entering the workforce immediately after attending MCC, there are training programs that lead to either an Associate degree in Applied Science or certificates.

Michaelis Academic Center is one of 3 buildings recently constructed on campus that meets LEED standards, or in other words, is a "green," environmentally-sound building. It holds information sessions on a diverse array of academic pursuits like teacher certification, GRE preparation, and "University Center," the university partnership that allows students to obtain four-year Bachelor degrees while at MCC. It is also home to the MCC Bookstore and The Thistle Stop, which serves "grab-and-go" items and smoothies.

Here in the Administration building you will find the Office of Financial Services, the Business Office, and the Dean of Education. Financial Services may be helpful for incoming students who are unsure if they qualify for financial aid. 70% of students at MCC do qualify and aid comes in the form of grants, scholarships, work study, and loans. The Business Office handles tuition and fees, while the Dean of Education is there to help you meet your educational goals and explore academic possibilities.

The Enrollment Services Center houses Admissions, Student Records, and Registration, which means this is your one-stop center for academic logistics like making class changes and obtaining transcripts. It is connected to the Administration Building, both of which can be found in the center of campus near many of the academic buildings.

Depending on your degree plan, two or four semesters of physical education are required at MCC. The Physical Education and Health Department offers programs that lead towards a career in coaching or fitness teaching, as well as wellness activities that fulfill requirements or can be done for fun. There are also a Counseling Center, gym, weight room, racquetball court, and Math Lab located in the Wellness and Fitness building.

The Music and Theatre Arts Building is part of the Fine Arts facility and houses an intimate black box-style theatre with the seating recently being redone. The Music Department ambitiously puts on an opera annually, and other musical offerings have included faculty jazz concerts, The Lion in Winter, and workshops taught by visiting master voice teachers and opera stars.

Students interested in degrees in performance, technical theatre, and theatre history, will spend much of their time at the Ball Performing Arts Center. The facility contains a 350-seat proscenium theatre with advanced computerized lighting and technical support systems. Past shows have included Pippin, Cinderella, Alice in Wonderland, and Hamlet.

If entering the business world is part of your career dream, there are a variety of programs that may interest you such, as Office Technology, Computer Information Systems, Health Information Technology, Medical Assistant, and Paralegal. Students can take courses in accounting, human resources, business management, real estate, and marketing.

MCC's library is located on the 3rd floor of the Learning Technology Center. In addition to a large collection of books and classroom space, there are 29 laptops available for 2-hour check out, a copy and printing center, study rooms, a cafe, and a computer lab with 142 computers, equipped with the latest software. In addition to the library, the Learning Technology Center has hosted a College & Career Night, a blood drive, and Halloween activities.

MCC is committed to fostering well-roundedness in students, requiring a variety of core classes spanning many departments including those in the liberal arts. Courses in history, English, foreign languages, speech, and philosophy can be taken toward these core requirements and also for degree programs.

The Student Services Center is home to a variety of academic resources including tutoring, group study areas, a computer lab, an audio/video recording space, and a writing center. Student Development, on the second floor, can help with career planning and information about job listings. On the third floor is the Office of Student Support Services, where information about transferring and cultural enrichment is available.
