Welcome to Mary Baldwin University! Let me explain the ways you can explore our space. Clicking on the forward facing arrow will allow you to start walking around. Clicking on the "Next" button will take you to the next stop, and if you know where you want to go, you can select any location by using the list OR by clicking on the map. You can explore locations in more detail with the supplemental icons. The oldest building on campus, the Administration building is many students' first view of campus. Housing the Offices of Admissions, Financial Aid, and Student Accounts, it is certainly an important stop for new students!
Spencer Residence Hall

Spencer Residence Hall is one of two main dormitories for first-year students. Providing both double and triple room options, dorms in Spencer have a bed, desk, and lots of built-in closet space for each student. Students in Spencer also benefit from a sink in their rooms, making daily tasks like brushing teeth or rinsing out dishes more convenient. Community-style bathrooms are located in the middle of each hall with multiple toilets, sinks, and showers. Each floor has a lounge area and kitchen for student use. You can leave your quarters at home because laundry is free and located on the first floor of the building.
Hunt Dining Hall

Hunt Dining Hall is our main dining space on campus. The lobby houses our campus store, where you can find everything MBU, and Hunt Gallery, where visiting artists and senior art majors showcase their work. The second-floor houses the main eating area. Students enjoy having mulitple options from more traditional "home-cooked" meals to a daily salad bar to a build-your-own-pizza station. Open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, our chef works closely with students to ensure that there are always vegetarian and gluten-free options.
Pearce Science Center

Welcome to Pearce Science Center! The main academic space for our science departments, Pearce also houses Francis Auditorium, used for larger classes and campus-wide events such as movie nights, game nights, and club events. Inside the three floors of Pearce there are classrooms, labs, and office spaces for the Psychology, Biology, Chemistry, Health Sciences, and Physics courses. Several lounge areas are located around the building, and a coffee shop on the third floor allows students to relax and recharge in between class. Finally, our student labs on the first floor provide dedicated space for senior science majors to complete their Capstone project research.

The Office of Student Engagement strives to create opportunities and an enviroment that inspires students to become active citizens of the campus and the Staunton community. Student Engagment encompasses many areas of campus that will be familiar to students: Residence Life, First-Year Experience, and Student Activities to name a few. Kable House, the home to Student Engagement, is the go-to spot when you're looking to get involved on campus, run for student government, or start your own club.

Grafton Library

Grafton Library is nestled between our two main academic buildings on campus and houses a large collection of non-fiction, fiction, and reference materials. In addition to being a fully functional library space, Grafton's first floor is home to the popular study carrels, quiet spaces that students can reserve for the full school year. On the bottom floor is the McCree Center for Student Life Success, and on the top floor are two large, multipurpose classrooms. The fourth floor is also the practice space for the MBU Choir so don't be surprised if you hear their melodies over the lunch hour.
Carpenter Academic

Carpenter Academic building is used mainly for our humanities and math classes. Throughout the four floors, you'll find classrooms and office spaces for professors in political science, history, math, and business, just to name a few. Classrooms in Carpenter are intimate and reflect our commitment to small class sizes and personalized student and professor interactions.
Panill Student Center (University Café)

The Pannill Center houses our University Café, the second dining option on campus. The Café offers grab and go meals and has extended hours. A great space to stop in if you just have a few minutes between class and a meeting, try the chicken tenders and French fries, a student favorite!

The Office of Inclusive Excellence develops programming to promote cross-cultural sharing and exploration to our on-campus undergraduate population. Mary Baldwin Unversity values our diverse community and supports our students, faculty, and staff in being the best versions of their authentic selves. This is reflected in our student community where over 40% of our students identify as students of color and 60% identify as first-generation students. OIE is also home to the Ida B. Wells Living-Learning Community and PERSIST and supports clubs and celebrations across campus such as Los Posadas and the Student Ambassadors for Racial and Social Justice.
Deming Fine Arts Center

Deming Fine Arts Center is home to our music, art, and theatre programs. In this building, students can find the Fletcher Collins Blackbox Theatre for MBU productions, our art studios that include painting, drawing, and digital media, and our private lesson rooms for use by our music students. Although Deming is a hub for students majoring in the performing arts, anyone with a creative spirit can take a fine arts class, sign up for voice or instrument lessons, or participate in the MBU choir.
Spencer Center for Civic and Global Enagement

Founded in 2007, the Spencer Center for Civic and Global Engagement is a great resource for students wanting to get connected with both our local community and the world at large. The Spencer Center provides civic education to our students through on-campus events such as the voter registration progam and creates action in the community with MBU Connect and its ongoing service learning projects. For those students who want to explore the world a little farther from home, the Spencer Center hosts the International Education and Exchange Week, highlighting our exchange partnerships with institutions in Northern Ireland, Japan, Taiwan, India, and South Korea.
Physical Activities Center

The Physical Activity Center, or more lovingly known as the PAC, is the home of MBU's atheletic programs. Housing a dance studio, locker rooms, two weight rooms, a cardio room, and classroom space, the PAC is a key part of our students' wellness while they are on campus. During the seasons, students also make the trek to the PAC to support their fighting squirrels in USA South, Division 3 play. MBU is proud to field teams for men's baseball, men's and women's soccer, men's and women's basketball, cross country, men's and women's soccer, tennis, women's volleyball, and track and field.
Virginia Women's Institute for Leadership (ROTC)

The nation's only all-female cadet corps, the Virginia Women's Institute for Leadership (VWIL) is a signature program at MBU. VWIL is a leadership program that combines military and civilian tracks to provide students with preparation for whatever path they choose following graduation. Working in connection with the Virginia Military Institute (VMI) in Lexington, Virginia, VWIL offers students the option to participate in Navy, Air Force, Army, or Marine ROTC classes, with approximately 58% of our graduating cadets choosing to commission into the Armed Forces upon graduation.
PEG Residence Hall

Part of Mary Baldwin's Early College, the Program for the Exceptionally Gifted is an immersive academic experience for girls aged 13-16 who decide to skip all, or part, of high school to attend college. Founded in 1985, PEG has almost 40 years of experience supporting gifted young women as they navigate college and beyond. PEG is not a dual enrollment program, and student are completed immersed in the MBU community, with access to the same classes, activities, and clubs as the other first-year students. For students between the ages of 16-17, MBU offers the Early College Academy, a co-ed option for students skipping their last few years of high school.
Murphy Deming College of Health Sciences

Murphy Deming College of Health Sciences (MDCHS) is Mary Baldwin University's branch campus offering graduate, undergraduate, in-person, and online programs in health sciences. Opened in 2014, the building is designed to promote interprofessional collaboration and provide opportunities for students and faculty to inquire, investigate, discover, and advance knowledge through research and applied learning experiences. It features technology-rich classrooms, labs designed specifically for each program, an interprofessional simulation lab, and a traditional cadaver lab. In addition, the building houses faculty offices and several student study spaces.

A recent expansion of campus, the School of Education offices and classroom space are housed in the Staunton iHub, a co-working space just a few blocks from main campus. Offering multiple options for careers in education, including undergratuate, post-bacclaurate, and graduate study, the School of Education at MBU combines theory and classroom experience into every course preparing our students for their time in front of their students. 77% of our education students are seeking endorsements in the most needed areas of education and 100% of our gradudates are employed within 6 months of graduation.
Shakespeare and Performance (MLITT/MFA)

Mary Baldwin University's Shakespeare and Performance program combines scholarship with stagecraft to produce an unparalleled experience that attracts students from around the world. Students in the graduate program study, direct, experiment, and perform both on campus and in the Blackfriars Playhouse in downtown Staunton, home to the internationally acclaimed American Shakespeare Center.

Just a block from campus, historic downtown Staunton spreads out along Beverley Street. The Queen City, as it's known, is home to live music festivals, art galleries, multiple coffee shops, weekly farmer's markets, the world-famous Blackfriar's Playhouse, and the birthplace of a US president. Student favorite stops include the Visualite Movie Theatre, offering Downtown Movie Madness once a month for MBU students, and Serendipty Java Bar, offering a quite space to study and an MBU student discount.
Page Terrace Graduation

Located in the center of campus, Page Terrace plays an important role at the beginning and end of every student's journey at Mary Baldwin University. New student orientation ends with the Opening Convocation and Candle Lighting Ceremony, where all new students officially join the MBU community and light their flame of knowlege. Students return to Page Terrace to end their MBU journey when the location hosts graduation each May.
