The Quad

Our first stop is 'The Quad', which is the main academic area of campus, and serves as a meeting place for students to take a break between classes. Many of your first year classes will be around the quad. It's home to the Center for Academic Success in Coates Hall, which provides you tutoring and advising for time management, study strategies, and supplemental instruction. LSU's main library is your 24-hour study spot and is located on the north end of the quad. On the south end is Atkinson Hall, part of our College of Art and Design which offers majors in Architecture, Interior Design, Studio Art, and the top-rated Landscape Architecture program in the nation.

Patrick F. Taylor Hall

Our next stop is Patrick F. Taylor Hall, home to the LSU College of Engineering and its 11 degree programs. Patrick F. Taylor, or PFT, is over 400,000 square feet and contains a multitude of state-of-the-art learning, laboratory, and collaborative spaces. In these spaces, LSU Engineering, computer science, and construction management students transform ideas into reality to solve our greatest challenges. With the help of innovative professors and unique research opportunities, you'll be launched into successful careers with average starting salaries of nearly $70,000.Our graduates go on to work at world-leading organizations such as Chevron, Disney, Dow, IBM, NASA, and many more.

Business Education Complex

This is the Business Education Complex, home to the E. J. Ourso College of Business. Nationally ranked in the Top 50 among public institutions for undergraduate business programs, the E. J. Ourso College of Business is also recognized as a top 25 public school for undergraduate accounting and MBA degrees. Our internal auditing program is considered number one in the WORLD. The E. J. Ourso College of Business prepares you to excel in the global marketplace with state-of-the-art, hands-on learning opportunities, like a simulated trading floor where students advise campus partners on their investment portfolios. The Office of Business Student Success provides academic counseling, career and professional development services, diversity programming, and international experiences.

Student Union

The Student Union is the hub of student activity on campus. Here, you can catch up on homework, socialize with friends, or grab lunch from one of our several delicious dining options. Many campus resources are housed in the Union, including Student Government, the Office of Multicultural affairs, and the Olinde Career Center, where you can meet one-on-one with advisors who will help you discover your passions, secure internships, market your skills to employers, and find a meaningful career that's right for you. At the Union, you can make your own salad, pizza, sample authentic Louisiana Cuisine, or pick up something quick from Chick-fil-A or Panda Express.

University Recreation Center (UREC)

Here we are at the University Recreation Center, or UREC. This facility offers you over 40,000 square feet of weight and cardio space, eight indoor courts for basketball, badminton, volleyball and futsal, a turfed functional training area, boxing studio, climbing wall, and an indoor track that spans across two floors. UREC also has group exercise classes in activities such as yoga, cycling, and Zumba. Outdoors, you'll find nine tennis courts, an eight-lane swimming pool, and an LSU-shaped leisure river, sand volleyball courts, and basketball courts. At UREC, you can also rent camping gear for outdoor activities and participate in dozens of free intramural sports or sport club activities.

French House (Honors College)

This is the French House, home to LSU's Roger Hadfield Ogden Honors College and part of an intimate, ten-acre "campus within a campus" that also includes, the Laville Honors Residence Hall and the 459 Commons dining unit all on the same block. The Honors College offers rigorous and interactive academic engagement in a seminar-style classroom environment in which students discuss, debate, and explore compelling topics and challenging issues. As an honors student, you'll join graduates who've earned one hundred prestigious national awards including the Truman, Fulbright, and Rhodes Scholarships. They also go on to internationally renowned graduate programs at LSU, Cambridge, Harvard, Notre Dame, and others.

Cedar Hall

Here we are at Cedar Hall, one of several first-year student residence halls available on our campus. Cedar is our newest traditional-style housing option and is open to students of all majors. LSU also offers "living and learning" communities where students sharing similar academic degree programs live together in what's called a Residential College. Our residence halls offer you a supportive living environment where you can engage with peers who are taking the same classes, form study groups, meet with advisors, and even attend classes, which are held on the bottom floor of your residential college.

The Five Dining Hall

The 5 is one of our two state-of-the-art, all-you-care-to-eat resident dining halls. Each dining hall is located near the residential communities on opposite sides of campus, both just a short walk away from your room. Our dining halls are open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily. Student meal plans include swipes for meals in the dining halls and at The Club at Union Square, and 'Paw Points' which essentially work as cash to be used at on-campus dining operations, including those in the Union, City Pork in the Design Building, multiple coffee houses, or one of several food trucks parked on campus.

Nicholson Gateway

We're now over at Nicholson Gateway. This area truly provides you with a full living experience without having to step foot off campus. Nicholson Gateway has a full-size grocery store, a Torchy's Tacos, a Starbucks coffee, and even an urgent care and a quick-stop University Recreation Center. You may also live here in our upperclassmen on-campus apartments. Nicholson Gateway is also just a short walk away from classes, as well as Tiger Stadium and Mike the Tiger.

Journalism Building

The Journalism Building is full of history as it was moved brick-by-brick from our former campus and rebuilt at this location in the 1930's. Now, it houses LSU's Manship School of Mass Communication, where students learn from acclaimed professors who led digital marketing for Disney, broke news stories for the New York Times, and earned prestigious fellowships and national awards. Through LSU student media and connections to an extensive professional network, there are thousands of opportunities for you to gain real-world experience before graduation. In fact, nearly all journalism majors are published as undergraduates, and 100 percent of public relations and digital advertising majors plan campaigns for real-world clients.

Peabody Hall

Peabody Hall is home to the College of Human Sciences and Education, which offers a range of degree programs such as kinesiology, education, social work, sport administration, as well as leadership and human resource development among others. Kinesiology is the fastest-growing major at LSU and offers several healthcare tracks, including pre-medicine, pre-physical therapy, pre-athletic training, pre-physician assistant, and more. Regardless of major or track, 100 percent of HSE students have the opportunity to complete an internship for course credit. We can also see LSU's historic records library, Hill Memorial.

Music & Dramatic Arts Building Shaver Theatre

We are now standing center-stage of the Shaver Theater in the College of Music and Dramatic Arts; home to the LSU School of Theatre, ranked number 2 in the country among public universities, as well as the Turner-Fisher Center for Opera, one of the country's oldest opera programs. Students produce hundreds of public performances each year and learn from acclaimed professors, through 1-on-1 faculty mentorship, and guest artists at the pinnacle of their careers. Graduates work both onstage and off in many of the greatest arts institutions in the world including Carnegie Hall, the Goodman Theatre, the Metropolitan Opera, the Sydney Symphony, and many Broadway theatres.

Mike the Tiger and Tiger Stadium

We're now standing in the center of LSU athletics. Surrounding us is Tiger Stadium, also referred to as Death Valley, the Bernie Moore Track and Field Stadium, the Pete Maravich Assembly Center (PMAC), and the habitat of LSU's live mascot, Mike the Tiger. Champions on the field, and in every field, our elite community of scholars is fueled by a competitive spirit innate to LSU and a commitment to excellence that inspires world-class research, advances new innovations, solves global challenges, and wins national championships. Forbes magazine ranks LSU in the Top 25 universities that dominate in academics and athletics.

Paul M. Hebert Law Center

In the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, we value our students' successes. Our graduates understand people and use that knowledge to shape the world. We offer a diverse collection of majors at LSU, including Psychology, English, Political Science, History, Sociology, Screen Arts, or one of our customizable degree programs in interdisciplinary studies. Students can participate in our three-plus-three pre-law program, where students can earn their bachelor's degree from our college, as well as a law degree from the LSU Law Center in six years rather than seven years. Our students can also partner with faculty to conduct research relevant to their major and career interests.

Clarence L. Barney Jr. African American Cultural Center

Now we stand outside of the Clarence L. Barney Junior African American Cultural Center. The Center implements educational, cultural, and social activities that acknowledge and address African American students' needs at LSU. The Center hosts the Ubuntu Cultural Library, which houses an array of literature on African American culture. Additionally, the Center's computer lab is a great place for students to come and complete homework assignments, quizzes, tests, and conduct research. The AACC offers signature programs throughout the year, including the Black Women's Empowerment Initiative, Juneteenth Celebration, and Pre-Kwanzaa, and Black History Month festivities.

Landolt Astronomical Observatory on top of Nicholson Hall

We're at the Landolt Astronomical Observatory, one of the research facilities in the College of Science. Our scientists are highly recognized across disciplines having contributed to three Nobel Prize winning discoveries. You'll get to work with some of these distinguished researchers as they apply math and science to answer pressing questions that affect our quality of life. Our students major in biological sciences, chemistry, geology, mathematics, microbiology, and physics with a variety of concentrations plus a teaching certification in four disciplines. If you're interested in pre-medicine or pre-dentistry you'll be advised through the College of Science. Our acceptance rates into medical and dental school are significantly higher than the national average.

Hill Farm

The College of Agriculture experience cannot be contained to the classroom. Offering eight majors spanning the food, fiber and natural resources industries, our students gain hands-on experience in bayous, fashion runways, test kitchens and much more. This stop features the LSU Hill Farm located in the heart of LSU's campus. A living classroom, students thrive from hands-on learning opportunities with greenhouses, container gardening, and raised beds – all utilized in undergraduate coursework! Outside of the Hill Farm, you'll find seventeen-thousand acres of research space covering diverse geographic regions of Louisiana and focusing on crop, livestock and aquaculture production as well as wildlife conservation and forestry.

Energy, Coast & Environment Building

Here we can see the Energy, Coast and Environment Building, the main facility for our College of the Coast and Environment. This senior college has a student-to-faculty ratio of about four-to-one, which allows for an intimate college experience with the same resources of a major research university. Our location on the Mississippi River and near the Gulf of Mexico provides a "living laboratory" for you to participate in research that will prepare you for any career, including climatology, coastal ecology, law, medicine, oceanography, public health, and much more. In fact, 100% of graduates from the College of the Coast and Environment are employed or enrolled in professional or grad school upon graduation.

LSU Lakes & Lod Cook Alumni Center

Here we are overlooking one of LSU's campus lakes, which provide opportunities for students to fish, kayak, run, walk, or even conduct research. We're also opposite of the Lod Cook Alumni Center. LSU has a vast alumni network, of over two-hundred and fifty thousand people engaging in the workforce and making their mark across the globe.
