God's Grace Statue

The Glory of God’s Grace Statue in the center of the Sculpture Plaza is the symbolic entrance to campus, especially for first time visitors. This beautiful sculpture tells the story of the Prodigal Son, and how the grace of God is all-welcoming. Many events are held at this plaza, like the annual Christmas Tree Lighting, Festival of Nations, club fairs, and prayer get-togethers. Plus, you can always catch students relaxing here by the fountain or taking selfies with the Riverside landscape in the background.

Founders Green

Founders Green is the center of La Sierra’s campus—this is where we hold events like the *HUB* fair, baptisms, and graduation. And since we have free campus-wide WiFi access, you’ll often see students studying here on the grass, hanging out in hammocks they have borrowed from our Student Association, or having picnics. Founders Green is right by the Dining Commons, so it’s the perfect place to eat your lunch while you enjoy the shade. (It’s also not a bad spot for a nap in the middle of the afternoon in between your classes.) South Hall Lawn

The far end of Founders Green is known as the South Hall Lawn, named after the South Hall building. South Hall has a long history here, and was the men's residence hall back in the 1920s. These days it is often referred to as the Honors House, since this is where you can find the Honors Program and dorm. This is an exclusive and rigorous program, but anyone with a 3.75 GPA is invited to apply for the chance to become an Honors student.

Alumni Pavilion

This is the Alumni Pavilion, better known as the gym. Here, students have access to all our sports facilities, like the tennis courts, swimming pool, track, basketball court, and fully equipped Fitness Center. All these amenities are free for students to use—just make sure that when you visit the Fitness Center, you bring your ID card for entry and are wearing close-toed shoes.

Women's Dorm (Angwin)

Welcome to Angwin Hall, La Sierra’s freshman and sophomore women’s dorm. This residence hall is a fun and social place to live, and there are always great events to attend such as spa night or evening yoga. Unlike the other women’s dorm, Angwin has its own pool just for its residents—and with California’s great weather, you can even work on your tan during the winter months. Not only is living on campus convenient and a great way to make friends for life, but you can also take advantage of free laundry facilities, a kitchen area, a spacious lobby to hang out and study with classmates, and more.

Men's Dorm (Towers)

Sierra Towers is the men’s residence hall, and is the tallest building on campus with 7 floors plus a basement level. You can even see it from the 91 freeway! In Towers, our male student population make lifelong friendships, worship together, and hang out in the “man cave”—a space with a home theater, weight room, and pool table. Residents also have access to their own swimming pool and jacuzzi, kitchen area, laundry facilities, and a large lobby that is perfect for studying or just spending time with friends.

Dining Commons

This is the Dining Commons, known as the ”Caf.” Here you will find a full-service plant-based cafeteria that is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Students enjoy a variety of food and the menu changes daily—and it gets especially busy when Indian food or sushi is being served, as those are campus favorites. We also have a new vegan station, as well as a lactose-free ice cream machine. And did we mention that it’s all-you-can-eat? You can socialize with your friends and classmates in the dining hall, or take your food to go so that you can chill in your dorm room or have a picnic out on Founders Green.

Student's Center

Adjacent to the Dining Commons are the Student Center and the Eagle’s Nest Cafe. The Student Center is a space where you’ll see students eating lunch, playing ping-pong, watching sports on the big screen TV, hanging out between classes, or attending events like blood drives, Open Mic Night, town hall meetings, and more. Next door at the Eagle’s Nest Cafe, students have access to fresh food and drinks. You can use meals from your cafeteria plan, as well as any flex money you have loaded on your ID card. This is a great spot to grab snacks at almost any time of the day.

One of the newest additions to campus is our Virtual Reality and Artificial Intelligence Lab in the Department of Computer Science. Here, students have direct access to and experiences in the VR environment. They also learn to design and build automated intelligence electronics, a skill set that is more and more highly sought after in the computer science job market. The lab includes a VR headset, 15 powerful graphics computers, and a large screen TV.

Price Science Complex is home to our biology, math, and computer science departments. The building is primarily known for its science laboratories. From General Biology to Human Anatomy and Physiology, students study under world-class biologists such as renowned herpetologist Dr. Lee Grismer. Not only are these labs important for meeting class requirements, but cutting-edge research is a large part of La Sierra’s culture. Undergraduate students are included in faculty-led research processes and projects, and each year a number of students publish their own research in top scientific journals. For example, in the last few years over 25 freshmen were co-authors in peer-reviewed scientific publications.

Film & TV

Welcome to the Department of Film & Television, housed in Palmer Hall (with an additional studio and sound stage off campus). Here, students can earn degrees in Film & TV Production or Education and Training—and each major takes a strong core of required courses to ensure a solid grasp of the fundamentals of film-making. The art of storytelling is at the heart of this field, and students are not only exposed to the latest industry techniques but encouraged to share their own stories. Graduates of these programs have started their own companies, won film competitions, and gone on to further study in areas such as directing, scriptwriting, and editing.

Chemistry

Palmer Hall is home to the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry. In addition to class lectures, chemistry labs are a vital part of the program. Through hands-on, interactive experiments—including 3D modeling—students explore the world on a molecular level and are prepared for further study in a variety of healthcare fields, environmental chemistry, and more. Chemists and biochemists help create solutions for the world’s everyday problems, and our department provides a strong foundation for these future scientists and doctors.

Art and Design

In the Visual Arts Center, which is easy to spot thanks to its beautiful mural-covered walls, you’ll find students immersed in a variety of art mediums. From digital-based design to hands-on pottery or painting, students learn to express themselves creatively. Students in this department have the option to major in Art, Fine Art, or Graphic Design and study under the direction of renowned artists. Everyone on campus is welcome to explore the Brandstater Gallery, where students and other artists showcase their work. Even if you aren’t an art major, you can still take fun electives in this department such as ceramics, drawing, photography, and more.

Upper Campus

Upper Campus is a busy area here at La Sierra. You can always find students here making their way to different classes, or hanging out on Hamilton Terrace which is just under the Upper Campus walkway. During commencement each June, this long stretch in front of the library is where graduates gather to don their regalia and get in marching order to walk down to Founders Green for the graduation ceremony.

School of Business (ZSB))

The Tom and Vi Zapara School of Business, known as ZSB, is our newest building where business classes for both undergraduates and graduate students are held. The School of Business’s various degree offerings lend themselves to different learning styles, and this is reflected in the classrooms designed for interaction and discussion. ZSB is also home to the Troesh Conference Center, the Enactus Team office, and events such as TEDxLaSierraUniversity talks and Meet the Firms, where students can network with different companies. Recent additions to ZSB include the Innovation and Finance Labs—these rooms joined the existing Startup Garages as ways in which students can forge career paths and build new businesses.

Church

The La Sierra University Church is where you can find students attending Chapel every Tuesday at 11 am. Chapel is a great time for all of us to get together and take a break from our busy and demanding workloads. While Chapel is a requirement for most students, depending on class schedules, the church is also open to anyone to worship with the congregation on Saturdays. There are also a variety of other events such as Friday night vespers, known as “First Service.” No matter your religious affiliation or faith background, everyone is welcome to nurture their own spiritual journey at La Sierra.

Athletic Fields

At La Sierra University, we're proud of our Golden Eagles athletics teams. Our NAIA Champions of Character play basketball and volleyball in the gym, while the outdoor fields for soccer, cross country, and baseball are nearby. We have award-winning teams in men's baseball, basketball, cross country, and soccer; and women's basketball, cross country, soccer, softball, and volleyball.

Natural History Museum

Cossentine Hall is usually known around campus for its large lecture halls, where students attend classes such as biology lectures, film history courses, and more. But it’s also home to the World Museum of Natural History, which has a variety of interesting collections containing rare stones, gems, minerals, and animals. This is just one of three museums on campus, and is open to the public year round.

HMA (Performing Arts)

If you’re interested in music, then Hole Memorial Auditorium is the building you’ll want to visit. Known as HMA, this former church is where our Department of Music students study their craft and perform in quarterly recitals, concerts, and more. The department offers degrees in music, performance, and education, as well as the Performer’s Certificate Program. All students who love music are welcome to take classes regardless of their major—in fact, many students end up majoring in music even though they go on to medical school after graduation! HMA is also where we gather for performances such as operas, the annual Alumni Concert, and more.

Library

La Sierra University Library is a vital resource for all students at La Sierra, and not just because it houses nearly 400,000 books, ebooks, and bound periodicals. Students can also find over 350,000 audiovisual materials, have access to over 50,000 online full-text journals, and can borrow books and materials from other libraries in the LINK+ system—all with the help of our knowledgeable research librarians. This cozy and quiet brick building is a great place to study, with a variety of study rooms, desks, and couches as well as a plant-filled atrium. The library also provides computer and printing services for all students.
