Kent State University, located in Kent, Ohio, is ranked in the top tier of national universities by U.S. News & World Report. More than 38,000 undergraduate students are enrolled in eight campuses across Northeast Ohio. Programs of study include certificate, associate, bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees. Today, we will explore the Kent Campus, a classic residential campus, which is home to more than 22,200 undergraduate and more than 5,400 graduate students. Kent Student Center

The Kent Student Center provides facilities for meetings and special events, offices for more than 400 student clubs and organizations, campus services such as the Kent State University Bookstore and quick-service restaurants. In the lower level, you'll find the *LGBTQ+* Student Center. On the first floor, in the food court or the Hub as it's called, students can choose from breakfast, lunch or dinner items from a variety of vendors that cater to every taste! On the second floor, you'll find the Westfield Campus Tour Center. Campus tours depart from the tour center most weekdays throughout the year. Be sure to visit the Admissions Office website to view the schedule and to register.

The University Library is the tallest building on campus, the tallest building in Portage County and a central meeting place for research and academic study. While you'll find millions of books and periodicals, the University Library offers so much more. The Math Emporium, Writing Commons, One Stop for Student Services, Student Accessibility Services, computer labs with printing centers, TechHelp services, Esports gaming and the UCommute Lounge for commuter students are all located in this building. You'll also find a café and coffee shop on the ground floor. The president's office is in this building as well.

Memorial Athletic & Convocation Center

Kent State students can watch exciting Division I men's basketball and wrestling, as well as women's basketball, gymnastics and volleyball in the Memorial Athletic and Convocation Center or MACC for short. This building is dedicated to the Kent State students who lost their lives in World War II. Home to the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics, Kent State features 17 intercollegiate sports at the Division I level and is part of the Mid-American Conference.

Bowman Hall houses the College of Arts and Sciences, Kent State's largest college. Some undergraduate majors include biology, chemistry, criminology and justice studies, English, history, physics, political science, psychology, pre-dentistry, pre-medicine, sociology and zoology. Center for the Visual Arts

The Center for the Visual Arts includes the comprehensive renovation of both Van Deusen Hall and the Art Annex and Heating Plant with an elaborate walkway that connects the former facilities. The Center for the Visual Arts houses all School of Art programs under one roof and features classroom, studio and exhibition spaces. The School of Art was established in 1910 and offers programs in the fields of art education and art history, with studio disciplines including ceramics, glass, jewelry, metals and enameling, textiles, drawing, painting, print media and photography and sculpture.

Business Administration Building

The College of Business Administration and Graduate School of Management is a member of the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International or AACSB International, an accreditation earned by fewer than 5 percent of business schools worldwide. Undergraduate majors in accounting, business management, computer information systems, economics, entrepreneurship, finance, human resource management, managerial marketing and marketing are offered. MBA, master's and doctoral programs are offered as well. Also inside is the John S. *Brinzo* Entrepreneurship Laboratory which is part of our nationally recognized entrepreneurship program.

Schwartz Center

The Schwartz Center once housed a K through 12 school, known as the Kent State University School. Originally developed as a teacher training school, it later evolved into a selective laboratory school and was divided into elementary, junior high and high school levels with the high school known as Kent State University High School. Today, the Schwartz Center houses several student services and administrative offices including the Admissions Office, Parking Services, the Center for Adult and Veteran Services and ROTC.

Center for Philanthropy and Alumni Engagement

This facility houses 100 employees from the Division of Institutional Advancement who work to build lifelong relationships with the university's alumni and friends as well as raise private philanthropic support. Kent State has an alumni family of more than 251,000 including some very familiar faces like game show hosts Drew Carey and Steve Harvey, astronaut *Carl Walz*, the first female captain of Delta Air Lines Stephanie Johnson, Broadway star Alice Ripley, professional wrestler *Dolph Ziggler* and many professional athletes including Josh Cribbs, *Julian Edelman*, Antonio Gates and James Harrison.

Wick Poetry Center

The Wick Poetry Center welcomes emerging and established poets and poetry audiences through readings, publications, workshops and scholarship opportunities. The center is in the May Prentice House, a home that once belonged to the university's first female professor. The May Prentice House sits next to Poetry Park, in the heart of the Lefton Esplanade greenway. The landscaped park offers an outdoor gallery with changeable display kiosks featuring Traveling Stanzas—poems by Wick Poetry Center authors, school children, Kent State University students and the Northeast Ohio community.

Located on North Campus, the College of Architecture and Environmental Design is located alongside the Lefton Esplanade and the Wick Poetry Center. Standing as a gateway to the newly revitalized downtown Kent, the building is home to students pursuing a career in architectural studies, architecture, construction management, health care design, interior design, landscape architecture or urban design. Featuring a loft-style layout, the facility has sustainable and energy-saving features that make it one of the most innovative buildings on campus.

Located on the corner of Main and South Lincoln Streets, Rockwell Hall is home to the world-renowned Shannon Rodgers and Jerry Silverman School of Fashion Design and Merchandising and the Kent State University Museum. The school was created in 1983 due to a generous gift from Rodgers and Silverman. Our fashion program ranks as the fifth best in the nation and 15th best worldwide, with more than 3,000 of our alumni working at top brands throughout the industry worldwide.

One of the oldest buildings on campus, the School of Journalism and Mass Communication is in Franklin Hall. The building includes state-of-the art classroom audio-visual equipment, a digital, high-definition broadcast studio and integrated camera locations throughout the building that can feed live video to the studio. In Franklin Hall, you'll find more than 700 of our students working in our award-winning student media creating unique content distributed across 34 outlets on broadcast, print and platforms.

Hilltop Drive contains the original, historic buildings on the Kent Campus, which have all been renovated into state-of-art facilities. Cartwright Hall features an auditorium that also serves as a concert hall. Throughout the school year, you can unwind to the sounds of the Kent State University Orchestra and other university ensembles when they perform here. Popular classes like general psychology are also held in the auditorium. Located next to Cartwright Hall is Kent Hall, named for William S. Kent, the donor of the land for the original campus. The Department of Psychological Sciences is located here and offers undergraduate and graduate degrees and majors in psychology. Psychology continues to be one of the most popular majors on campus.

The Department of Sociology is in Merrill Hall. Sociology faculty have won the university's highest teaching and research awards, received major grants and published their research in the top journals and presses. The criminology and justice studies program is also here. Located behind Merrill Hall is ''Behind the Brain Plaza," a unique place to relax between classes. Next to Merrill Hall are *Lowry Hall* and *Moulton Hall*. Inside Lowry Hall, you'll find the College of Public Health's Center for Public Policy and Research. The Department of Anthropology is also here. Moulton Hall houses the College of Public Health. The College of Public Health features an accredited undergraduate major in public health, one of the few undergraduate public health programs in the country.

Taylor Hall houses the School of Communication Studies and the School of Visual Communication Design. The new layout of the building including the open space classrooms on the top floor brings together the different aspects of communications and design theory, research, use and practice. The May 4, 1970 Memorial was dedicated on May 4, 1990. The Kent State University community welcomes visitors to the historic site and invites all who visit our campus to learn more about the events leading up to and on May 4, 1970. Every spring, more than 58,000 daffodils bloom near the memorial. Each flower represents the number of United States servicemen and women who died in the Vietnam War.

Center for Performing Arts

The Center for Performing Arts is home to the School of Music, the School of Theatre and Dance and the Department of Speech Pathology and Audiology. The Roe Green Center features a striking glass-lobby entrance and a flexible seating black box theatre that accommodates up to 200 people. Dance studios have fully equipped sound systems and pianos. Renovated spaces include a lighting laboratory, props and crafts lab, workshops and classrooms, a recording studio, a costume shop, performance support space and a welding lab.

A complex of six buildings, Kent State's Centennial Court residence halls are conveniently located within easy walking distance of the University Library, Kent Student Center, DeWeese Health Center, Warren Student Recreation and Wellness Center and most academic buildings. Each residence hall houses approximately 200 first-year, sophomore and upper-division students. Bathrooms are private or semi-private. All buildings are coed by suite and all rooms are carpeted and air-conditioned and contain loftable furniture, refrigerator/freezer/microwave units and free laundry.

Tri-Towers

The largest residence hall complex on campus is known as Tri-Towers: Koonce, Wright and Leebrick halls. These halls house more than 1,400 first-year, sophomore and upper-division students. For a bite to eat between classes or a late-night snack, Rosie's Diner and Market is in the Tri-Towers Rotunda and is open 24/7. Also located in the rotunda is a 7,000-square-foot fitness area which includes more than 70 exercise machines and free weights. The space also includes free laundry and tutoring rooms.

Eastway Center

Eastway Center is just seconds away from the University Library, DeWeese Health Center and the Kent Student Center. Allyn, Clark, Fletcher and Manchester Halls make up Eastway Center and are student residence halls. The complex also houses a bowling alley and two dining facilities: Eastway Market and Deli on the lower level and Eastway Fresh Food Company, a dining hall on the upper level. In the market and deli, students can buy convenience store items, fresh fruit, and meats and cheeses with their dining plans.

University Health Services, located in DeWeese Health Center, focuses on health promotion and education to keep our students fit and well while at Kent State University. However, if at any time you're under the weather, you'll want to visit the DeWeese Health Center. The staff includes board-certified physicians, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, licensed psychologists, pharmacists and radiographers.

A popular place to meet other students and work out, the 153-000 square foot Warren Student Recreation and Wellness Center will help you stay fit and active. Kent State University is a leader in liquid crystal technology which was patented here in the 1960s. Liquid crystals can be found in cell phones, televisions, computers and household appliances. Forbes magazine named the liquid crystal as one of the top 100 inventions of the 20th century that changed the way we live today. Inside the Liquid Crystals Materials Science Building, exciting research is being conducted and products are being developed every day!

In this area known as the Science Mall, there are several buildings which represent majors in the life and physical sciences and related majors. In the Integrated Sciences Building, you'll find science classrooms, instructional labs, research lab space and faculty offices for the Departments of Chemistry and Biochemistry, Biological Sciences and Physics. Williams Hall is home to the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry where you'll find award-winning teachers, internationally recognized scholars and excellent research facilities. Located next door is Smith Hall and the Department of Physics. The Kent State University Planetarium is located here. Professors teaching Seven Ideas That Shook the Universe, a popular class for decades, use the planetarium in their lectures. Across the plaza from Smith Hall is Cunningham Hall and the Department of Biological Sciences. Cunningham Hall houses primary classrooms spaces, research labs and the university *herbarium* featuring plant specimens from Ohio and other regions of North America. The building with the sine wave on its roof is the Mathematics and Computer Science building. A wide variety of courses and degree options in mathematics and applied mathematics are offered.

Henderson Hall

Home of the College of Nursing, Henderson Hall features classrooms, advising offices and the Olga A. Mural Simulation Laboratory. Kent State College of Nursing offers the Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree and graduates are eligible to apply to take the state licensing examination to become professional registered nurses. Other undergraduate options include an accelerated nursing program for those who have a second degree and an online RN to BSN program. We're proud to have graduated more than 40 percent of the nursing workforce in Northeast Ohio.

Located in the Science Mall, the Aeronautics and Engineering Building houses the College of Aeronautics and Engineering, the fastest growing college in the Kent State system. Majors include aeronautical studies, aviation management, aerospace engineering, mechatronics engineering, cybersecurity engineering and many others. Inside this building you'll find classrooms, research laboratories, faculty, staff and advising offices. The FedEx Aeronautics Academic Center is the college's second building, located at the Kent State Airport.

The Kent State University Airport is located four miles west of campus in the city of Stow and is part of the Kent Campus. The 280-acre airport serves aeronautics students in the College of Aeronautics and Engineering. The college owns 35 Cessna and Piper aircraft exclusively used for teaching and academic competition. The Portage Area Regional Transit Authority or PARTA provides bus transportation from the campus to the airport and back for Kent State students.
