SAIS' new home at the Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg Center is located on the historic, iconic corridor of Pennsylvania Avenue, in the heart of Washington, DC. A dynamic learning environment that gives you the resources and reputation you need to build for what's next, SAIS is located minutes from the U.S. Capitol, the White House, Department of Treasury, Department of Justice, Department of Energy, the World Bank, numerous non-profit organizations, and the National Mall. We are accessible from three metro stations, Amtrak and MARC train services at Union Station. Nearby, you'll find the lively, culturally diverse neighborhoods of Penn Quarter and Chinatown.

Welcome to SAIS' first new home in 60 years! Designed to foster community and collaboration, the Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg Center also hosts other divisions of Johns Hopkins University and offers unprecedented opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration with students and renowned faculty from across the university and world of public policy. The building offers 420,000 square feet of space for learning, collaborating, and creating, including 38 high-tech classrooms, a library, theatre, lounges and group and individual study spaces as well as event spaces, reflection and tranquility rooms and fitness and wellness centers.

Our 375-seat theater is a state-of-the-art convening and performance space ideally suited for exclusive events featuring world leaders, global policy experts and innovators, scholars and practitioners, and other thought leaders including authors and artists. Some of our recent high-profile speakers include the U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken, U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, and India's Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs, Nirmala Sitharaman.
The Beach

The Beach is our relaxed, collaborative and open study space. Here you'll find comfortable study booths, cushions and laptop tables with plenty of natural light. It's a convenient, central spot for meeting up with fellow SAIS students as well as other members of the Johns Hopkins University community.

At SAIS, you'll gain research strategy, critical assessment, and information management skills designed to meet course and individual needs. And the Irene and Richard Frary Library serves as a key hub through multiple points in our students' research, learning, and writing journeys. Our dedicated librarians are ready and eager to support and collaborate with students in their intellectual pursuits by providing seamless access to digital, print, and other resources.
State-of-the-Art Classrooms

Our classrooms are designed to accommodate multiple learning styles, from lectures to team collaboration to seminars and group discussions. Each classroom is equipped with projectors, videoconferencing tools, flat panel display monitors with wireless laptop-sharing capabilities and movement-tracking cameras. Professors are able to share content to any other display monitors simultaneously or independently.
SAIS Student Affairs

SAIS' Office of Student Affairs manages a wide array of support services, ranging from new student orientation to off-campus housing. It also coordinates across SAIS and Johns Hopkins on important matters such as health insurance, mental and physical wellness, and diversity and inclusion programming. In addition, the Office of Student Affairs advises the Student Government Association and other SAIS student organizations and is responsible for extracurricular activities promoting community and social engagement. Some of the most notable events are the elaborate Week of Welcome, the always popular International Dinner, and the highly anticipated Cherry Blossom Ball. A long-running, weekly Cookie Hour brings everyone together for fun chats and delicious treats.

Café & Terrace

Question Coffee, located in the Il Salotto Di Giacomo space on the 7th floor, serves drinks, baked goods, grab & go sandwiches, salads and grain bowls. The café features an adjoining outdoor terrace with stunning views of the US Capitol and Pennsylvania Avenue. The café originated from the nonprofit Sustainable Growers, which supports female coffee farmers in Rwanda. This is the first Question Coffee café located in the U.S.
Rooftop Terrace

With panoramic views of downtown Washington, DC, our rooftop terrace overlooks Pennsylvania Avenue, the U.S. Capitol, National Gallery of Art and other museums on the National Mall. It is often used as a large, outdoor space for gatherings such as networking events.
