Swanson Arch is the original entrance to and what remains of the very first building on campus, Swanson Hall. Swanson Arch is the home of ISU's ""March through the Arch"" tradition when, each fall, new Bengals pass through the arch into campus. In May, our graduates look to the future by passing back through the arch symbolizing their exit from the university and entrance into new life adventures as Bengal Alumni. Physical Science Lab

From exploring with NASA at Craters of the Moon to learning how to live on Mars to using thermal imaging and complicated math to recover serial numbers from stolen firearms, ISU students have unique pathways in the Physical Sciences. The departments of chemistry, geosciences and physics offer students a solid grounding in the fundamental sciences, creating numerous research and career opportunities. The ISU Accelerator Center and other facilities in the ISU Research Park provide students the opportunity to help create new medical isotopes or use applied spectroscopy to solve forensics problems. ISU has dozens of research laboratories and works with several research partners, like the Idaho National Laboratory.

College of Science and Engineering

ISU engineering students have plenty of fun building concrete canoes that pass float tests and using equipment in the Structural Laboratory in the Engineering Research Complex that produce forces of more than 1 million pounds and are used to test the strength of construction materials. At ISU, students can pursue civil, mechanical, electrical and nuclear engineering degrees. Each program has unique research facilities including the Aerojet-General Nucleonics 201 nuclear reactor that has operated at ISU for more than 50 years and the ISU Measurement and Control Engineering Research Center with its focused laboratories that specialize in areas of aerospace, robotics, structures, biomedical, controls and measurement systems, energy systems, and embedded systems.

Pharmacy

Besides preparing excellent pharmacists for their careers and completing important research, the College of Pharmacy is active in public service. The College of Pharmacy helps operate five community Bengal Pharmacies, including one in Pocatello at the ISU Health Center. ISU students and faculty also help out with the Bengal Pharmacies across the state of Idaho. In addition, through their volunteer efforts, ISU pharmacy students provide flu shots to students and the public. Each year the students also fulfill a wish to a Make-A-Wish Foundation child with the proceeds from several fundraising activities. The College also has a partnership with the University of Alaska Anchorage.

Pond Student Union

The Earl R. Pond Student Union Building (nicknamed the SUB) is the center for most student activities and services. The food court features Einstein's Bagelry, Mandalay Express, Grill Nation, and Jamba Juice. Also located on the main level are places for students to eat, study, or relax such as the Bengal Café and the Quad Lounge. There are over 8,000 events on campus a year, a lot of them are hosted right here at the SUB, such as Bingo, concerts, dances and International Nights. Other highlights include: a movie theater, game center (with bowling and pool tables), the university bookstore, outdoor recreation center and more.

Hutchinson's Quad

We've reached the heart of our campus: "The Quad." This large, grassy area was originally used as the first ISU football field. Ralph F. Hutchinson, a former football coach and athletic director from the 1920s, worked nights and weekends by himself to create the field, and his dream came true when the spectators, both students and community members watched the games together, creating pride and school spirit. The Quad is now dedicated to student use - concerts, BBQ's, volleyball games, Ultimate Frisbee and more, and on any given day, students can be seen studying, sunbathing, and eating on the Quad.

Dental Hygiene Clinic

Rendezvous

The Rendezvous is a state-of-the-art educational, residential, and social complex that opened in fall 2007. Centrally located on campus, the Rendezvous is a gathering place for the campus community. The Bengal Eyes on the side of this building were completed by the 1901 student alumni group to show school spirit overlooking the main thoroughfare through campus. Rendezvous is home to a food court, quick-stop store and Starbucks kiosk, classrooms, computer labs, the Student Success Center, Math Center, Writing Center, and more. This building also features the newest student housing complex with bedroom suites. Residents have their own furnished room, and share a living room, kitchenette, bathroom, and laundry facilities.

Cadet Field

If you visit campus in the early mornings, you can see our ROTC cadets holding morning drills on Cadet Field. The field is also open to students for pick-up games and other activities and events. Cadet even has flood lights that can be turned on by students to keep their games going through the night. Students who live in our residence halls especially enjoy Cadet Field and other social and educational programs are also held throughout the year and provide occasions to meet others and develop life-long friendships. Living in the halls is very convenient and residents do not have to worry about parking, cooking, or doing dishes.

The Eames Complex houses the College of Technology, home to some of the best technical programs in the world. Reed Gym - Student Rec Center

Reed Gym facilities include a basketball court, indoor swimming pool, handball and table tennis, racquetball courts, an indoor running and tennis area, outside tennis courts, weight rooms, aerobics classrooms and more. Reed Gym is home for the women's basketball team, volleyball team, and tennis teams. Students can work out for free in the Student Recreation Center. The center includes two basketball courts, locker rooms, dance and exercise areas, and one of the nation's largest university climbing walls. Reed also houses the Wellness Center, where students can receive free services such as personal training, fitness assessments and nutrition counseling.

Gale Life Sciences

The Gale Life Science, Beckley Nursing, Lecture Center and Speech Pathology/Audiology buildings that surround the Life Science Center Courtyard house facilities that are central to ISU's designation as Idaho's lead institution in the health sciences. The Gale Life Science Building has state-of-the-art labs, including anatomy and physiology, general ecology, cell biology and neurobiology facilities that serve more than 1,200 students annually. The College of Nursing offers five different undergraduate and graduate programs and houses a state-of-the-art medical simulation lab. The Speech Pathology/Audiology programs - along with the nursing programs - both received top rankings for U.S. News and World Report.

Nursing Sim Lab

At the Nursing Sim Lab, future nurses in our top-ranked College of Nursing can practice skills in a life-like environment. State-of-the-art simulators can mimic childbirth, heart attacks and other medical emergencies, preparing students for the real deal under the guidance of highly-skilled faculty. Students and faculty work together to ensure the students are prepared for a variety of emergencies and traumatic events.

College of Education

The College of Education prepares effective professional educators at ISU's Pocatello, Idaho Falls, Twin Falls campuses and online. It has fast-track programs to allow students to teach in their communities while they learn. ISU's College of Education is dedicated to supporting all educators, including teachers, school administrators, athletic trainers and industry trainers. Its major areas of emphasis are teaching and educational studies, organizational learning and performance, sport science and physical education, school psychology and educational leadership. It also boasts one of the few outdoor education programs in the country. More than 80 percent of its graduates stay in Idaho and the College is engaged in a wide assortment of research.

Holt Arena

Holt Arena is the oldest enclosed stadium on a college campus in the United States and the second-oldest in the world. Holt is the home of Bengal Football, men's basketball, and countless community events, from Monster Truck Rallies to national indoor track meets. The atmosphere in Holt Arena during Bengal athletic events is electric. When the national anthem plays, visitors can see the largest free falling American flag displayed in the entire United States. The flag is over 8 stories tall and 4 stories wide.

Stephens Performing Arts Center

The Stephens Performing Arts Center was recently ranked No. 4 in a list of the most amazing college performing arts center in the country. It includes three venues — the 1,200 seat Jensen Grand Concert Hall, which boasts state-of-the-art acoustics, a 450-seat Bistline thrust theater for theatrical performances and a 250-seat black box experimental theatre. The theatre and dance department performs approximately 8 productions in this facility each year and is housed in the College of Arts and Letters, the largest and most comprehensive college at Idaho State. The College introduces students to ways of thinking and expression intrinsic to the arts, humanities, and social and behavioral sciences.

Red Hill

From the top of Red Hill you can take in spectacular views of the Idaho State campus and the city of Pocatello. At the top of Red Hill there are four iconic pillars. Three pillars are connected, and represent the freshmen, sophomore and junior classes. A fourth pillar, which stands alone, represents seniors who are ready to make their mark on the world but are still part of Idaho State. There is an old tradition that says you can only become a "True Bengal" if, at midnight on Homecoming, you get kissed or kiss someone while touching one of the pillars on Red Hill.

Bartz Field is a beautiful place to stroll that offers wide open spaces and stunning views of Pocatello. Miller Ranch Stadium, home to Bengal Softball, is located here. Bartz Field also houses the Idaho State rugby playing field, which hosts all home matches. On occasion, you'll find giant slip-n-slides and ice-blocking parties, like the annual "Cold Butts and [Root] Beer" event at the beginning of fall semester.
