In 1965, Horace Mann School established the John Dorr Nature Laboratory in Washington, Connecticut with a gift of 83 acres. Dorr now encompasses 305 acres of fields, streams, and ponds in which students can explore nature and engage in outdoor pursuits. Dorr is one of my favorite things about HM. Our Gold LEED-Certified lodge includes our main meeting spaces, kitchen facilities, faculty and nurse offices, equipment room, and our mechanicals room where students can monitor energy and water usage. Before we get started, let me explain how to use this Virtual Tour so you can get the most out of your visit. -You can click on the front facing arrow to start walking around our campus. -You can also jump to the next stop by clicking on the Next Stop button. -If you already know where you want to go, you can select any location by using the list or by clicking directly on the map. -You can explore any particular location by clicking on the supplemental icons. Enjoy your visit to HM's Dorr Lab, and make sure you virtually visit our main campus in the Bronx, too!
