Hi, I'm Sade and I'm proud to be a Gateway Red Hawk. I'll be your guide around our campuses and will let you know about some of the things I like best. A couple of big reasons to choose Gateway include hands-on experience gained in the labs and awesome instructors who really know what it's like in my career field. I like knowing that, when I graduate, I'll be ready for my new career and that employers WANT Gateway grads. If I want to get more education like a bachelor's degree, my credits will transfer to a 4-year college. Gateway has three main campuses—one in each of our counties—and several centers of excellence. Before we get started, let me explain how you can explore our three main campuses, centers... and programs of study clusters on this tour - You can start at the top of the list and select the first listed stop. Kenosha Campus

The Kenosha Campus, located in the area of 30th Avenue and 35th Street. Look for the complex of academic buildings, a conference center, and the district administration center. Many programs across our academic divisions are taught in their entirety in Kenosha, including Nursing, HVAC, Physical Therapist Assistant, Information Technology programs, and Surgical Technician. The latest, cutting edge equipment are found in the program labs. Of special interest are Pike Creek Horticulture Center, learning gardens and arboretum and the Center for Sustainable Living. Gateway has two fabulous Horticulture associate degree programs and an Urban Farm ATC, Gateway's Law Enforcement Academy is also housed on the Kenosha Campus.

Racine Campus

The Racine Campus, located across the street from Lake Michigan, just south of downtown Racine hosts man program across academic divisions--Allied Health, Service--most notably Human Services and Culinary Arts; manufacturing related programs such as welding and CNC; and Business Programs. A very active Biz Squad internship allows students from all business programs to work together to meet local businesses' needs. The beautiful SC Johnson Student Life Center boasts a wall of windows facing the lake, game room and meals prepared and served by the Culinary Arts program.

Elkhorn Campus

The Elkhorn Campus is located near the town's Industrial Park and conveniently located just off Highways 12 & 43 to provide easy access to residents of Walworth County. The Campus hosts numerous business programs such as accounting and graphic communications; information technology programs; manufacturing programs such as welding and Automated Manufacturing Systems Technology; and allied health programs such as nursing assistant and veterinary sciences. Elkhorn campus is noted for its friendly atmosphere and close relationships. In recent years, remodeling has created beautiful new Student Services, Library, Learning Success Center and Student Life Center spaces to enhance student learning and enjoyment.

Burlington Center

Gateway's Burlington Center is located at the Burlington Learning Campus, south of Burlington High School. The Center features a popular Nursing associate degree program, preparing students to become registered nurses. The Center also offers Pharmacy Technician technical diploma. General studies courses are taught at the Center, which also has a small Learning Success lab and limited Student Services--which meet the needs of both of the Gateway facilities at the Burlington Learning Campus.

Gateway Centers-HERO

The Health and Emergency Response Operations or HERO Center is the home for the Fire-Medic and Paramedic Associate degrees and all of the highly sought after Emergency Medical Technician programs. The Center is located at the Burlington Learning Campus, north of Burlington High School. The HERO Center features human patient simulators, ambulances, fire trucks and apparatus bay, fire training areas, including a roof; numerous scenario rooms shared by the programs, The Pierce Command Center, and a 911 dispatch training center. Gateway also partners with local fire and rescue departments to share training facilities.

Horizon Center

Gateway's Horizon Center is an exciting place for transportation technology including auto, diesel equipment and trucks, and aeronautics-pilot training. SO exciting, that the center has been duplicated at colleges across the United States. The center trains for many NC3 industry certifications. Students learn in the classroom, begin their hands-on experience with top of the line trainers and spend a good portion of their education learning in the service bays with vehicles. Those enrolled in Aeronautics-pilot training also start in the classroom, log many hours in the cockpit of flight simulators and log more hours in the air than most flight schools.

iMET Center

The SC Johnson integrated Manufacturing and Engineering Technology (iMET)Center is home to seven engineering technology associate degree programs. Their state of the art training labs include a new Mechatronics lab. iMET also hosts the region's first flexible manufacturing lab dedicated to training the manufacturing workforce through Gateway's Business and Workforce Solutions division. Short-term, customized, modular and bootcamp training in CNC machining, industrial maintenance, robotics, welding and fabrication, in addition, industrial trades apprenticeship training, is being offered at the SC Johnson iMET Center.

Business Careers

Thousands of students enjoy the combination of real-world projects and classroom learning on their way to a career in business or enhance their marketability in their current role. Gateway offers accounting, management programs, marketing programs, administrative services, graphic communications, and professional communications. We're really proud of our business program students. Many get involved in Biz Squad made up of students from all the business programs who work on projects submitted by local businesses. They also are able to compete in regional and national competitions—a great learning experience and resume builder.

Health Careers

Gateway is proud of its nine high quality health programs and of our graduates who do so well in their professional certification exams….AND their success in getting hired. So many of these careers are greatly in demand, such as nursing, nursing assistant, surgical technology, physical therapist assistant, and more. Program labs are equipped with human patient simulators, and state of the art technology used in the most advanced medical facilities. Our students take their classroom and lab knowledge out into local medical facilities to further hone their skills before graduation.

Information Technology Careers

There are so many careers in the information technology arena and Gateway prepares students for success. Often students know they want to do, "quote", something with computers...but don't know what. Since the first year of all the associate degree programs is the same and offers basic knowledge across all IT, students can find their greatest interest--computer support specialist, networking, web development, software development or security. Many complete multiple degrees to increase their marketability. IT student clubs offer opportunities for additional hands-on learning outside of the classroom.

Manufacturing Careers

Manufacturing has gone through a massive change. There is a huge demand for a workforce skilled in advanced manufacturing--operation and programing of CNC and PLC equipment; welding of all kinds; tool and die makers; heating, cooling and automated building control experts; industrial maintenance, and automated manufacturing system technicians. Gateway offers training in all these areas with state of the art equipment and lab experiences. Each of the main campuses features some of the programs along with a flexible manufacturing lab at the iMET Center.

Gateway has 11 engineering technology programs in the construction sciences, electrical, and manufacturing areas. Students learn on top of the line equipment, receive individual instructor assistance, have active club experiences, and get jobs at the end! Those who plan to get a bachelors in engineering have several transfer agreements that get them there... Gateway's electrical engineering program also has a sustainable energy systems and a biomedical concentration. Construction Sciences prepares students for jobs in Geospacial Surveying, Fresh Water Resources, Architectural/Structural areas and more. Students have access to new labs for Mechatronics and a the Fab Lab at the iMET Center.

General Studies

While Gateway prides itself on its hands-on career-based education, each of the programs have a selection of appropriate General Studies courses including Math, Reading, Composition, Speech, Psychology, Science and Economics. The courses have been carefully matched to the program to enhance the student's career success. The rigor has been assessed by numerous 4-year institutions to ensure transferability. Many students of 4-year colleges take gen eds over the summer at Gateway to give them a leg up at their home university.

Transfer Your Associate Degree to a Bachelor’s Degree

Gateway has worked with local, regional and national colleges and universities to develop transfer agreements that allow you to take part or all of your associate degree and apply it to a bachelor's degree--saving you time and money. What's great is that you can use your associate degree to get a job and THEN keep going to college while working to get that bachelor's degree. Sometimes your new employer will even pay for it. Student Services

Come meet the friendly, helpful people in Student Services who will get you started at Gateway. You will find new student specialists who will guide you toward the services you may need--academic advising is usually the first stop—they help you develop your educational plan. Other important services include registering for classes and paying for college (student finance specialists). The staff all really help us feel less overwhelmed. These steps can be done online, but nice to know there is help if we need it.

Learning Success Centers

The services through Gateway's Learning Success Centers on each campus position you for accomplishing your education and career goals. The quality of Gateway's services make the college number one in my book. Gateway knows I can DO this, but I may need some help—so they give me the Step Up, Multicultural, and Trio programs that advise us in how to beat those barriers to success in College. We can also get academic tutoring or learn English. I just walk in the door and the welcome staff will steer me toward the right people.

Student Life & International Education

Take time to have fun and make connections - The experience you gain and the relationships you build will last a lifetime. Students take part in more than 40 active clubs, enjoy social and cultural activities, as well as professional organizations and networking events. Students can also participate in a Study Abroad trip outside the U.S. or work on a joint, hands-on project with a group of students from another country. The global experience will transform your personal, academic and professional life.

Libraries

The Libraries, located at each of the three main campuses, are places to study, conduct research, use a computer, and check out materials for coursework or pleasure. Don't forget to access the library online from your home or campus to benefit from their many informational databases. With each library, there are rooms for group study and quiet study. Reference librarians are available to guide you in accessing their many services. Gateway's intercampus loan program allows you to check out books from other campuses—they will be delivered to your home campus. The libraries carry popular fiction and non-fiction books for your enjoyment as well as course-related materials.
