Crawford Hall

Let's begin our tour at Crawford Hall. Constructed in 1939, Crawford Hall houses the Office of the President, Admissions, Financial Aid, Financial Services, Campus Safety, and the Academic Resource Center. Additionally, this building features a 1200-seat auditorium where special chapel series take place, as well as other campus events and productions throughout the year like Orientation Board Off-Broadway, an amusing display of student talent and humor that became an annual tradition to welcome freshmen to campus. Here, our president and leadership team daily strive to uphold the College's core values and offer an affordable, Christ-centered education that yields amazing outcomes. A View From the Quad

Grove City College is home to about 2,300 students, 97% of whom reside on campus. Our campus consists of 32 buildings, most of which are in the neo-Gothic style. You'll also find numerous athletic fields spread over our 180 acres. Interestingly, the College's layout was designed by the renowned Olmsted brothers, who also designed the campuses of Yale, Cornell, and Stanford, as well as famous parks like the National Mall in Washington, D.C., and Central Park in New York City. This vantage point gives you a nice view of Lower Campus, which is separated from Upper Campus by Wolf Creek. From here you can see our football field, track, field house and press box, tennis courts, softball field, Colonial Hall Apartments, and the Carnegie Alumni Center which is a hub for our nearly 30,000 alumni across the country. Behind us on Upper Campus is the Quad — a large grassy area where students enjoy studying and playing Frisbee and Spikeball. At the beginning of the academic year, Orientation Board hosts an All-Campus Worship service on the Quad in the evening — a perfect time to catch a gorgeous Grove City sunset. Come springtime, weather permitting, other significant events like Baccalaureate and Commencement take place on the Quad.

Harbison Chapel

Harbison Chapel was constructed during the Great Depression and stands at the geographical center of campus. Integral to our Christ-centered community, chapel ministries are woven into the larger fabric of spiritual formation at Grove City College. Students, faculty, and staff gather regularly to hear gospel-focused teaching and testimony in chapel, which catalyzes spiritual development and drives conversation all around campus. Our chapel requirement is intended to encourage students to take time for respite and fellowship through community worship in the midst of a busy student schedule. There are countless opportunities beyond chapel times to worship and grow spiritually alongside fellow students. For example, every Thursday night in Harbison Chapel, hundreds of students gather for Warriors for Christ — a voluntary worship service led by a student team that incorporates traditional hymns and contemporary songs, as well as some Scripture reading and prayer. Come Thursday night, you can count on a full house of students eager to worship God and refocus spiritually before wrapping up the week.

Rathburn Hall

Rathburn Hall is one of the newest buildings on campus, housing our Christian Ministries staff and providing large meeting rooms, prayer rooms, and a conference room for students to gather for ministry meetings and events, Bible studies, and personal quiet times. The Dean of the Chapel's office is also located in this building.

MAP Hall/West Dining Hall

Grove City College is a largely residential campus where students can put down deep roots as they learn and live together. Mary Anderson Pew Residence Hall is the largest female residence building that houses upperclassman women and all female freshmen. Also housed in this building are South Lobby and South Recreation Lounge — a co-ed space with a large television, couches, ping-pong table, jukebox, and fully equipped kitchen, as well as free laundry facilities which are available in every residence hall. West Dining Hall is also located in this building and is one of our three cafeterias on campus. You'll hear more about dining when we visit Hicks Hall later in the tour.

STEM Hall

STEM Hall is a state-of-the-art hub for students majoring in biology, biochemistry, chemistry, computer science, and nursing. This building, completed in 2013, has expansive laboratory and study spaces for project collaboration and experimentation — similar to what is found in the workplace. Here you'll find classrooms and glass-walled laboratories, as well as two conference rooms, a lecture hall with seating that facilitates small-group active learning, and a vivarium for teaching and research. Other features of this building include self-tinting SAGE glass technology for sustainability, and innovative white-board walls used for collaboration and laptop projection.

Physical Learning Center

With a strong emphasis on holistic growth and development, Grove City College supports students in their physical wellness and athletic pursuits. We offer 22 NCAA Division III varsity sports (11 for women, 10 for men, and Co-Ed Cheerleading), as well as a wide variety of club sports and an extensive intramural program with nearly 70% student participation. The Princeton Review has consistently ranked our program as one of the top in the country. The Physical Learning Center houses the Wolverine Arena, Intramural Room, elevated indoor running track and pits for pole vaulting, long and triple jump, as well as an all-deep competition pool, recreation pool, 9,000-square-foot fitness center, racquetball courts, dance studio, and bowling alley. Beyond basketball and volleyball games, the Arena is used for a variety of purposes throughout the year. During Family Weekend in the spring, All-College Sing packs the Arena with student performers, spectators, and families for a much-anticipated competition between dozens of student groups that perform choreographed songs with unmistakable enthusiasm.

Career Services Office

Grove City College's nationally ranked Career Services Office guides students in realizing and pursuing God's unique calling for their lives. This involves a four-year process of self-assessment, exploration, decision-making, and strategic pursuit. From one-on-one appointments with career counselors to resume-writing seminars, mock interviews, social media workshops, and large recruiting events like the annual career fair, the Career Services Office provides a wide array of services and resources to help students grow professionally and pursue their callings confidently. Each year, many companies and organizations visit campus to interview our students for full-time jobs and internship opportunities. On average year over year, 96% of our graduates obtain employment or admittance to graduate school within six months of graduation, going on to earn salaries that rank Grove City in the top 13% nationally for alumni earnings. According to Princeton Review rankings, Grove City ranks among the top 20 schools in the nation for career outcomes. As you go through your college search process, we encourage you not to underestimate the importance of a college's career services office. When it comes to long-term value, be sure to look beyond tuition discounts often disguised as "scholarships." Like I mentioned before at our Crawford Hall tour stop, most colleges and universities use tuition discounting as a marketing tactic to create a perception of financial value. Real financial value, however, is measured by the number of high-quality companies recruiting on campus, job placement rates, alumni earnings, and accelerated student loan payoff. Keep in mind that college is an investment that — if made well — pays off over a lifetime.

Breen Student Union

A popular hangout and study spot, the Breen Student Union serves as the social hub on campus and is open 24/7. The GeDunk café is housed inside, featuring a Starbucks and bistro, wood-fired pizza oven, and grill stations for made-to-order items like our famous chicken tender wrap, as well as grab-and-go convenience foods and drinks. Also housed in the Student Union are student mailboxes, the Office of Student Life & Learning, Office of Multicultural Education & Initiatives, and the Commuter Lounge, as well as the College Bookstore where students can purchase textbooks, Grove City apparel and merchandise, school supplies, greeting cards, posters, and other basic necessities. Throughout the year, students gather in the Student Union for various events and performances, such as monthly coffee house concerts, special guest lectures in the Great Room, and the annual Homecoming Dance.

The Staley Hall of Arts and Letters

The Staley Hall of Arts and Letters is the main academic building for liberal arts, general education, and Humanities Core classes. Regardless of major, every student at Grove City College benefits from our Humanities Core — a five-course series spanning history, Bible, aesthetics, literature, and worldview that cultivates critical thinking and communication skills while helping students develop a clear understanding of the world and their place in it. In this building you'll find various types of classrooms that were designed with faculty input in mind, as well as department suites where faculty hold regular office hours and students gather to study and collaborate on group projects. On the third floor you'll find the Office of Global Programs where students can explore and pursue study abroad opportunities. The Hall of Arts and Letters also houses the Curriculum Library — a hub for education majors that provides access to a wealth of materials and expert guidance for lesson planning and general development. Education majors also benefit from the Early Education Center — a fully functioning preschool that allows future teachers to gain hands-on experience right here on campus.

Pew Fine Arts Center

The Pew Fine Arts Center houses our music, visual, and performing arts programs — setting the stage for students to develop and share their God-given talents with the campus and local community. The College offers five different music majors, as well as minors in music, studio art, design, theatre, and musical theater. Our Theatre Program has been nationally recognized by the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival for Distinguished Achievement, and our robust music program offers over 25 ensembles to students of all majors — including one of the largest Division III marching bands in the country. Inside the Pew Fine Arts Center you'll find Ketler Auditorium — a 700-seat, professional-sized theater used for productions throughout the year including musicals, plays, concerts, and dance performances. This building also houses a 170-seat recital hall, black box theater, 28 practice rooms, organ and harp studios, large ensemble rehearsal room, music technology lab, spacious studio for art and design, and an art gallery for student and traveling exhibits.

Hicks Hall

As one of our freshman male residence halls, Hicks Hall also houses one of our two main dining halls, the second of which is located in Mary Anderson Pew Residence Hall. Both dining halls feature multiple full-service food stations staffed by an award-winning and sustainable, farm-to table food service provider. The College provides students with three meals a day, seven days a week, with daily meal options ranging from staples like salad, soup, paninis, pizza, and pasta, to chef- and student-inspired entrées that vary throughout the week. Students with special dietary needs may request accommodations with our Academic Resource Center in collaboration with our catering manager. Mealtimes at Grove City College are lively affairs and highly social — when students and faculty intentionally invest in deep friendships during breaks in the day. On the evening before final exams begin, students come to Hicks Dining Hall for a special Moonlight Breakfast — served up by the Student Government to provide some late-night fun and a welcome study break.

Henry Buhl Library

The Henry Buhl Library provides outstanding resources to support the educational and research objectives of students and faculty, including vast library collections and digital access to e-books, reference databases, multi-media materials, and over 84,000 online journals. The building features two floors of circulating books, two reference rooms, and the Writing Center where students can get assistance from advanced student writers when writing and editing papers. Reference librarians and librarian assistants are also available to help students navigate library resources and research projects. The first floor of the library is a popular study space for students. Most books are housed in the stacks section of the library, which also provides some of the quietest study spaces on campus for projects and papers that need a little extra focus.

Hoyt Hall of Engineering

Hoyt Hall houses our ABET-accredited Mechanical Engineering and Electrical & Computer Engineering Programs with outcomes that outpace most engineering programs nationwide. The building features over 8,000 square feet of laboratory space and includes labs for mechanical, thermal, and fluid systems, materials testing, electrical circuits, controls, power systems, and a well-equipped machine shop where students can gain excellent hands-on experience beginning freshman year. During their senior year, engineering majors participate in a capstone group design project, working in teams to design, construct, and test a product or process while considering manufacturability, costs, social and environmental impact, and safety concerns.

Memorial is the primary freshman male residence hall that houses over half of our freshman men. Each room has stackable furniture that allows students to customize their space, similar to female freshman rooms in North Hall. Every residence hall on campus is supervised by professional, full-time resident directors hired by the Office of Student Life & Learning, as well as student resident assistants — upperclassman students who serve as mentors and foster community among residents through optional Bible studies, game nights, hall dinners, and other gatherings and events throughout the year. One such event that benefits the whole campus community is the annual Pig Roast, which happens early on in the fall semester and is hosted by Memorial Hall freshmen and resident assistants on the spacious lawn just outside the building. Inside the building is a spacious lobby with plenty of tables and couches for studying, relaxing, movie nights, and more.

Rainbow Bridge is the stone arch footbridge that connects Lower Campus and Upper Campus, which are separated by Wolf Creek. Just beyond the bridge you'll find a nature trail, picnic grove, gazebo, fire pit with benches, a sand volleyball court, and plenty of trees that make for great hammocking. One of Grove City College's oldest traditions is "Creeking." When a couple gets engaged, their friends capture the male student and carry him down to the water for a celebratory dunking, chanting "Wolf Creek!" along the way.

On lower campus, we have Carnegie Alumni Center. Originally built as the second of Andrew Carnegie's many "Free Libraries," Carnegie Hall now hosts administrative office space for the College's Alumni, Advancement, and Marketing & Communications teams, as well as a multipurpose facility for wedding receptions, performances, and meetings. In the fall, students have unique opportunities to connect with alumni returning to campus for one of the largest homecomings nationwide for a school our size. Many students have found job opportunities as they interact with alumni — who are eager to support the younger generations of the Grove City College family.

At the core of our successful athletic program lies a commitment to faith that transcends competition and motivates student-athletes to excel on and off the field, court, and track. Outdoor campus facilities include the football and lacrosse field, tennis courts, softball field, baseball field, and soccer field, as well as outdoor intramural fields. Our two largest outdoor facilities are open and well-lit late into the evening for students to play pick-up sports and intramural games. In addition to intramural and club sports, Grove City College offers 22 varsity sports and is a member of the NCAA Division III, the Presidents' Athletic Conference, the Collegiate Water Polo Association, and the Eastern College Athletic Conference. Led by faithful coaches, Wolverines are a force to be reckoned with — regularly earning recognition in NCAA and ECAC tournaments and meets, winning conference titles and sportsmanship awards, and receiving many individual and All-American honors.

Colonial Hall Apartments are available to upperclassman students, with separate wings for men and women. Each fully furnished apartment has private bedrooms and one or two bathrooms per unit, as well as a complete kitchen with appliances, washing machines and dryers, and air and heat controls. Other features include a 24-hour co-ed lobby, hall lounges and study rooms, a recreation room, and elevator access. Located on campus yet closer to downtown Grove City, Colonial Hall Apartments provide upperclassmen the perfect opportunity to gain more independence in the context of hall community.
