Welcome to Georgetown University located in Washington, DC. Healy Hall

Healy Hall is the flagship building on Georgetown's Hilltop Campus. It houses academic and administrative offices, as well as the historic Riggs Library and Gaston Hall, event venues that often host international dignitaries and world leaders. In front of Healy Hall is Healy Lawn, one of the largest open green spaces on campus and a popular spot for students to read, gather and play recreational sports.

Gaston Hall is a 700+-seat event hall where national and international dignitaries have spoken since the turn of the last century. Convocations, honorary degree ceremonies, lectures and musical and dramatic performances are also held in this historic venue.

Georgetown has an active and vibrant arts community. We encourage our students to express their creativity and think critically about the arts both in and out of the classroom. Students design art exhibitions and perform in dance, music and theater groups on campus. Our location in Washington, DC, allows for partnerships with some of the best theaters and musical groups in the country as well as unparalleled access to internationally recognized museums, galleries, and musical and dance groups. The Davis Performing Arts Center is the academic home to the Theater and Performance Studies Program as well as the 239-seat Gonda Theatre and the black box Devine Studio Theatre. The center also provides classrooms as well as production learning laboratories for Georgetown students, including the Black Theatre Ensemble, Mask & Bauble and Nomadic Theatre.

White-Gravenor Hall

White-Gravenor is a classroom building that houses offices for the Georgetown College of Arts and Sciences and the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. It also houses the Student Services Center, a one-stop shop for class registration and transcripts, student financial aid and employment, and more. Founded in 1789 as the nation's first Catholic institution of higher learning, Georgetown College of Arts and Sciences is committed to the Jesuit traditions of an integrated education and of productive research in the liberal arts, including fine arts, humanities, languages, sciences, and social sciences. Red Square is an outdoor space next to the Intercultural Center that is used by students to promote causes and organizations and gather for events, performances and a weekly farmers market. Service and community engagement are an integral part of life at Georgetown and core to our Jesuit identity of being people for others. We encourage our students to become active participants in civic life, and we foster an environment that values social justice, service and community-based learning.

The Edward B. Bunn Intercultural Center (ICC) is home to the Walsh School of Foreign Service dean's office and professors' offices. The Intercultural Center consists of classrooms, offices, a language learning center, a computer lab and an auditorium. The Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service (SFS) offers a rigorous academic graduate and undergraduate program with a global perspective and unique access to speakers, internships and jobs. The school's 20+ centers and programs cover all regions of the world and key cross-cutting global issues.

Georgetown's Hilltop campus features both first-year and upper class living communities. Pedro Arrupe, S.J. Hall is one residence halls on campus and is available to upperclass students. Arrupe Hall is a suite-style building with 225 beds throughout the 8 floors. Georgetown is investing in new construction projects on its Hilltop campus and downtown location to provide additional, greener housing and collaborative spaces for undergraduate and graduate students.

St. Mary's Hall is home to Georgetown's School of Nursing and School of Health, as well as academic departments like the Georgetown College of Arts and Science's mathematics and computer science programs. The School of Health advances the health and well-being of people locally, nationally and globally through education, research and service. Through interdisciplinary practice, the school strives to solve some of the most complex challenges of our time. Georgetown offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in the liberal arts, sciences, international relations, law, medicine, business administration and public policy degrees, and a growing number of specialized certificates and continuing education programs. Georgetown's 12 schools offer a wide variety of intellectually rigorous programs designed to prepare students for their careers and solve some of today's most pressing local, national and global issues. Our schools offer undergraduate and graduate degrees, as well as law and medical degrees, post-doctoral positions and a growing number of specialized certificates and continuing education programs. Regents Hall houses most faculty for the biology, chemistry and physics departments along with labs, classrooms and open communal spaces for students in the sciences.

The Rafik B. Hariri Building is the home of the McDonough School of Business, where students and faculty use a business lens to focus on the challenges facing all of humankind. The building features classrooms, professors' offices, ample study space, and McDonough's admissions, advising, and career teams. Hariri also hosts numerous university events throughout the year in the Lohrfink Auditorium and Fisher Colloquium. The school offers undergraduate and graduate degree programs, custom executive education, and initiatives like Georgetown Entrepreneurship that provide real-world learning labs for students.

Georgetown has a distinctive identity in intercollegiate athletics. Inspired by the university's Jesuit identity and educational missions, our Athletics program seeks to develop the talents, character and leadership qualities of all student-athletes and members of our community. We aspire for our coaches and student-athletes to exemplify the excellence and integrity of the Georgetown community. Hoya student-athletes participate in 14 men's and 16 women's sports including baseball, basketball, field hockey, football, golf, lacrosse, rowing, sailing, soccer, softball, squash, swimming and diving, tennis, track and field and cross country, and volleyball. Georgetown Athletics provides full or partial scholarships to more than 40% of student-athletes. The John R. Thompson Jr. Intercollegiate Athletic Center, which is adjacent to McDonough Gymnasium, houses practice courts, locker rooms, weight training facilities, sports medicine/training room areas and an academic space for all varsity student-athletes.

Georgetown's Hilltop campus offers many options for dining. Leo O'Donovan Hall is the main dining hall on campus and features six different restaurant concepts inspired by global and American cuisine, including a weekly pop-up from a local DC restaurant. The Fresh Food Company at Leo's offers buffet-style meals at 10 stations, with allergen-free, vegetarian, smokehouse and more.

Georgetown is the oldest Catholic and Jesuit institute of higher learning in the United States. Jesuits have played a significant role in the growth and evolution of Georgetown into a global research university deeply rooted in the Catholic faith. Dedicated in 1893, Dahlgren Chapel of the Sacred Heart acts as the spiritual heart of the Georgetown community. Students are encouraged to take advantage of the opportunity to explore the religious traditions and experiences of other members of the Georgetown community. Since our founding in 1789, Georgetown has welcomed students from various religious and non-religious backgrounds, a core pillar of our Catholic, Jesuit Identity. We have dedicated sacred spaces and worship opportunities for Roman Catholic, Protestant, Jewish, Muslim, Orthodox Christian, and Hindu faith communities.

As the oldest standing academic building on-campus, the steps of Old North have been the site of numerous presidential speeches, including President George Washington's address to Georgetown students in 1797. In front of Old North is Dahlgren Quadrangle, a peaceful outdoor space where students can get away from the hustle and bustle.

The Georgetown University Library system contains approximately 6 million digital and print volumes housed in seven university buildings. The library's largest building, the Joseph Mark Lauinger Memorial Library known as "Lau," is located on Georgetown's Hilltop campus. Lauinger offers a central place for students to study, research and engage in events and exhibits. The historic Riggs Memorial Library, located in Healy Hall, served as the main library of Georgetown between 1891 and 1970, until it was replaced by Lauinger Library. Riggs is one of the few existing cast-iron libraries in the country..

The Car Barn houses the Graduate School of Arts & Sciences and includes graduate student lounges, study spaces, classrooms and administrative offices, including the Dean's Office. The Graduate School offers doctoral, master's and certificate programs in over 50 disciplinary areas, as well as a growing number of interdisciplinary programs that seek to solve some of the world's most complex challenges. Graduate studies at Georgetown began in 1820: from the initial launch of a year-long concentration in philosophy and mathematics, the introduction of the first doctoral program in 1896, to the formal admission of women to graduate study in 1943. The steps leading from M Street to Prospect Street next to the Car Barn were featured in the 1973 film The Exorcist. Fifty years later, they are fondly known by the Georgetown community as "the Exorcist Steps." There's even a plaque on the side of the building that was dedicated on October 30, 2015 noting them as a DC landmark.

The historic Georgetown neighborhood is located in northwest Washington, DC, on the banks of the Potomac River. Located one block east of the Healy Gates is the Robert and Bernice Wagner Alumni House, named for Robert (F'48) and Bernice Wagner. The Alumni House is a home away from home for all alumni to connect with each other and browse through Georgetown memorabilia. The gathering spot is equipped to host campus special events such as Homecoming, Reunion, faculty lectures and career network programs.
