Welcome to Franklin College, home of the Grizzlies! One of Indiana's historic educational institutions, Franklin was founded in 1834 and was the first college in the state to become coed. Today Franklin offers students small class sizes, an active club and varsity sports program, and a high rate of job placement after graduation. Spurlock Center

The Spurlock Center is where the Grizzly community and fans gather for athletic events, concerts, commencement ceremonies and other large gatherings. Inside are a gymnasium, a wellness lab and training facilities for athletes. The Center also offers fitness facilities, racquetball courts and an indoor track, open to all.

Dietz Center

This is the Dietz Center for Professional Development, a building about 100 Franklin College upperclassmen call home. This residence hall boasts its own fitness center and office space. If you live here, chances are you've got a single, but the Center also offers a dozen doubles and one triple room. All Dietz residents have air conditioning, carpeting and loftable furniture.

Elsey Hall

Elsey Hall is where you'll find Franklin's male and female freshmen – about 260 of them. Elsey residents live in double rooms with air conditioning and loftable furniture. The building's layout is ideal for getting to know your fellow first-years; each floor has its own computer lab and lounges. The Great Room serves as a central gathering space for cooking meals, watching TV, playing pool and kicking back by the fireplace. If living in a substance-free or quiet environment is important to you, you can find that here as well.

Richardson Chapel

You're looking at Richardson Chapel, the spiritual center of the Franklin College campus and home to the campus minister. Inside, the college and greater community gathers for worship, concerts, workshops, weddings, guest lectures, and other special events.

Napolitan Student Center

When you're not in class you'll probably frequent the Napolitan Student Center. Here you can take advantage of a wide range of meal and snack options from The Marketplace, Ben's Den Convenience Store and Jazzman's Café. You can also catch a lecture at the Branigin Room, stock up on books and class supplies at the Bookstore, or visit the Health and Counseling Center for free treatment by a registered nurse.

Barnes Science Hall

Built in 1927, Barnes Science Hall continues to serve several Franklin science departments with state-of-the-art research and instructional labs, as well as offices. The Hall has up-to-date facilities and instrumentation including a new specimen freezer, vertical flow cabinet, microplate reader and inverted microscope. The Hall also features an herbarium and a greenhouse next door.

Hamilton Library

Named after Indiana industrialist Bertis Frank Hamilton, Hamilton Library opened its doors in 1965. Today the Library is your destination for books, maps, periodicals and media. If you need to access a computer you can visit the second-floor computer lab, which is an otherwise mostly silent floor. You can also visit the third-floor lab, which is open 24 hours. The second and third floors also provide space for group study and lounging. Alumni and county residents can also access many of the library's offerings.

SAE

Located on a lot north of Monroe Avenue is the house of Sigma Alpha Epsilon (or SAE). This fraternity has a rich history here at Franklin, having been part of the community since 1892. The SAE is constantly buzzing with activity, hosting philanthropic events ranging from an annual powder puff tournament to the Clean Community Challenge. Greek Life is big on the Franklin Campus. In fact, about 40% of the student population is associated with one of the college's three sororities or five fraternities.

Old Main

Old Main is a center of both academics and administration. You might stop by to attend class or an event at the Custer Theatre. You might also come here to connect with a professor, use a computer, settle payments with the college or discuss your financial aid. In addition to classrooms and faculty offices, Old Main is home to the college's chief administrators, the Office of International and Off-Campus Study and Information Technology Services.

Johnson Center for Fine Arts

Welcome to the Johnson Center for Fine Arts (or JCFA). The Center serves as home base for Franklin's Fine Arts departments and Leadership Program, as well as a venue for live performances. The Théâtre Margot, a black box-style performance space, seats up to 150. In addition to pro lighting and sound, the theatre provides professional workspaces for students working on scenery, makeup and costumes. For visual arts disciplines, the JCFA provides modern studio, classroom and gallery spaces.
