Engineering & Computer Science

Just across the lake from the Green Library you'll find FIU's Engineering and Computer Science Building. The building is home to several different departments from Arts & Sciences to the Southern Technology Application Center with state-of-the-art classrooms, computer labs and administrative offices. The Engineering Departments are located a short distance from the FIU campus at the Engineering Center, easily accessible to students by shuttle.

Steve and Dorothea Green Library

The Steven and Dorothea Green Library is one of the largest libraries in the Southeastern U.S., and it's also the largest building at FIU. Students and faculty can access the centrally-located Green Library's extensive collection for research and enjoyment. They can also access classrooms, computer labs and group study rooms. The Green Library houses several schools, centers and academies in the Humanities and Sciences. A couple of additional library highlights include the Center for Academic Success, a Starbucks and a full lake view.

Owa Ehan

Owa Ehan – "third house" in Swahilli – was the third FIU building to be constructed on campus. It shares lake views the Green Library, the Engineering & Computer Science Building and Viertes Haus. Owa Ehan is home to the Biology and Environmental Sciences Department, as well as state-of-the-art classrooms, research centers, and laboratories.

College of Business Complex

The College of Business Complex (CBC) is where business and globally-minded graduate and undergraduate candidates converge. The CBC consists of three halls: Commons Hall, Students Hall and Academic Hall. Housed here are the College of Business Administration, classrooms, program offices, and the 300-seat Ocean Bank Auditorium. Outside of the complex is the Commons Courtyard where students can sit and discuss future mergers and acquisitions.

Rafael Diaz-Balart Hall

Rafael Diaz-Balart Hall (RDB) is home to FIU's College of Law. This remarkable building, designed by celebrated architect, Robert A.M. Stern, boasts both classic Greek detail and cutting edge technology. RDB holds mock trials in its teaching court rooms, and houses a three-story library dedicated to law. In addition to classrooms, RDB contains seminar spaces, lounges, administrative offices and two courtyards.

School of International and Public Affairs

FIU's School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA) is where world leaders connect with students, and students become leaders themselves. The thoroughly modern structure houses classrooms, a five-story tower and two-story auditorium where learning, debates and speeches take place. The building is also thoroughly "green," featuring a 10,000 square foot green roof above the auditorium, as well as solar paneling.

University Towers

The University Towers offer students an apartment-style living experience in two and four-bedroom units. Features in the three towers include a 24-hour front desk, High-speed Internet, cable TV, laundry facilities, and Wi-Fi lounges. The University Towers are convenient to the Green Library, pool and volleyball court, as well as other residence halls. Also just a few steps away is The Breezeway Café, a convenience store offering everything from market items to sandwiches, pizza, sushi and salads. Dining Dollars, cash and credit cards are all accepted at the Breezeway.

Patricia & Philip Frost Art Museum

The Patricia & Philip Frost Art Museum, an affiliate of the Smithsonian institution, is a place for FIU students, faculty, staff, and the broader community to enjoy world-class art and education. In addition to displaying important works from around the globe, the museum facilitates The Betty Laird Perry Student Art Collection, supporting the work of FIU students. Exhibitions and events such as the Steven and Dorothea Green Critics' Lecture Series serve to foster an appreciation and understanding of art. Due to wide interest and investment, the museum is able to offer free admission, with Tuesday through Saturday hours.

Herbert and Nicole Wertheim Performing Arts Center

Chances are if you're here at the Herbert and Nicole Wertheim Performing Arts Center, you're either entertaining or you're about to be entertained. FIU's Theater Department and Music School students hone their craft and present plays and concerts at the Performing Arts Center. Student performances and other special events are held at the impressive complex, which features a 600-seat concert hall and a 150-seat recital hall. Behind-the-scenes, the center houses fully-equipped classrooms, studios, practice rooms, offices and the Music Technology Center.

Charles Perry / Primera Casa

As the name suggests, the Charles Perry Building (aka Pimera Casa) was the first building constructed on campus. A fountain greets you as you enter, as well as a sculpture, "Las Cuatro Razas" by Albert Vrana; a striking symbol of FIU's diverse student population. Inside the building, students will find some important administrative offices such as Admissions and Enrollment, Registration, the Bursar and Financial Aid, as well as classrooms and labs.
