FDU Health – Pharmacy and Health Sciences

The School of Pharmacy and Health Sciences is committed to improving the health of individuals and populations through leadership roles in pharmacy practice, health care research and related health care fields. Students can select from graduate programs in pharmacy, public health, occupational therapy, physician assistant studies, or social work. Our state-of-the-art facilities provide opportunities for simulated learning with patient mannequins or anatomy dissection tables. Curriculums are designed to have students from several professions collaborate on patient care and participate in hands-on clinical experience from internships. This prepares students to work on teams that care for patients and improve their health, making graduates from the School of Pharmacy and Health Sciences highly sought after working professionals.

School of Psychology - Metropolitan Campus

The FDU School of Psychology and Counseling offers a broad range of master’s and doctoral programs leading to rewarding careers as practicing psychologists and counselors. These small and close-knit academic communities emphasize strong student/faculty engagement. Opportunities for hands-on learning include working in positions in the field, in clinicians’ offices, in inpatient mental health hospitals, law enforcement, and school settings. Our experiential learning environment differentiates our programs and allow students to understand their career trajectory once they've graduated. School of Psychology - Florham Campus

Our Clinical Mental Health Counseling program prepares highly competent counseling professionals to serve as mental health counselors, program directors, researchers, and policy makers on the local, state, and national levels. Unique from other programs in NJ, students take courses in Psychopharmacology, Counseling for Sexual Issues, and Fundamental of Supervision in Counseling, and graduate the program prepared to enhance the lives of diverse clientele. Counseling is not just a profession – it’s a calling. Through FDU’s graduate program in Industrial and Organizational Psychology students gain understanding in a variety of psychology-based concepts including assessment and measurement, employee engagement, and the impact of technology on behavior. Programs follow the scientist-practitioner model and include both theory and practice within the workplace and internships with local organizations. Nursing and Allied Health

Nursing is at the heart of health care delivery in every community, medical setting and specialty. At FDU’s Henry P. Becton School of Nursing and Allied Health, we strive to equip graduate-level nursing students with the knowledge and skills needed to assume a leadership role in the evolving field of nursing. Our Master of Science degree in Nursing offers tracks including Adult Gerontology Nurse Practitioner, Family Nurse Practitioner, Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, and Healthcare Administration. Our small class sizes in the M.S. Biology and Chemistry programs foster collaboration between students and faculty. Cosmetic Science

One of FDU’s niche programs is our M.S. in Cosmetic Science. The first of its kind in New Jersey, this program is designed to serve the needs of the large population of cosmetic science professionals in the New York metropolitan area. Our faculty are experts in the field and provide a modern industry focus. The M.S. in Cosmetic Science continues to fulfill the needs of those responsible for creating commercial products in the cosmetics, toiletries, and fragrance industries. It enables practitioners to learn the latest advances in their field and helps students to develop the skills necessary for senior assignments in the cosmetics industry. It is also geared to technologists aspiring to supervisory roles in a laboratory or plant setting.

The Master of Hospitality Management Studies gives current industry professionals the credentials, connections and inspiration needed to become leaders in their field. Studies focus on the critical aspects of hospitality management, from technology and business (including accounting for hospitality) to hotel sales and marketing, hospitality financial management and consumer behavior. Elective classes allow you to tailor your interests in areas like casinos and gaming, global tourism, entrepreneurship, and conflict resolution and negotiation. The Master of Sport Management program focuses on practical and theoretical aspects as they relate to the administration and management of sports personnel and facilities, recreation and fitness programs and businesses, health facilities, coaching and recreational activities. In addition, the program encourages the development of high-quality applied research for practitioners in the field. The degree is particularly suited for working adults who are interested in enhancing their credentials, with flexible class hours and a fully online option. FDU's M.F.A in Creative Writing Program is comprised of a community of writers learning, challenging, and supporting one another to become the very best writers they can be. Students and alumni have published hundreds of poems, stories, and essays in prestigious literary magazines, and many begin to publish while they are still in the program. The M.A in Creative Writing and Literature for Educators is a "one-of-a-kind" program that combines a traditional Masters in English or Literature with an M.F.A in Creative Writing formatted over seven courses. Designed for working teachers, it’s a low-residency program that nurtures writing skills while providing practical tools to be a more versatile teacher of creative writing in the K through 12 classroom. The M.A. in Communication is a theory-based curriculum that incorporates communication principles and practices into applied learning in cultural, interpersonal, and public contexts. The program is designed to give students an opportunity to build communication expertise most relevant to and needed in order to advance in their professions. Since our school’s founding, FDU has been a leader in veterans’ education. We’ve developed an integrated resource system to deliver services that extend beyond academics and help you learn how to make the most of your benefits. Services include academic support, professional development, entrepreneurial mentorship, mental health counseling and financial guidance. Grants from the WalMart Foundation and the American Council on Education have been awarded to FDU. We are one of only two private institutions that are the recipients of such funds which allows our veterans to utilize these resources. Seen here is the FDU Metropolitan Campus Library in Teaneck, NJ and houses approximately 154,000 print volumes, periodicals, DVDs, audiobooks, microforms, and special collections. FDU's Florham Campus Library in Madison, NJ includes more than 151,000 book volumes, some 190 current newspapers and periodicals plus over 2,000 backfiles. The library also holds over 1,400 DVDs and videos for classroom and individual use. FDU's Online Library provides access to over 190 subscription databases containing over 20,000 full-text journals, more than 145,000 e-books, and a streaming video collection. The Career Development Center at FDU is located within the Metropolitan Campus Library. Whether you are a current graduate student or an alum, their office can help you identify the necessary steps in establishing yourself in a new profession, advancing within your current job, and exploring career options for your degree. Staff members can assist with crafting an attractive resume and review best interview practices to prepare you for success and professional growth.
