Visitor's Center

Tours are offered Monday through Friday at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. during the school year and Monday through Thursday at the same times during the summer. Propulsion Lab

The Propulsion Laboratory consists of development and testing facilities for air-breathing and rocket propulsion systems and components. Here, we have students currently working to design, build and test a liquid oxygen kerosene rocket, convert an automotive turbo charger to a gas turbine engine and build a scale model of an afterburner for a jet engine. In addition to exciting student projects, the lab houses instructional laboratory equipment and is used in the Thermal Fluid Sciences course.

Nancy & Tracy Doryland Wind Tunnel Lab

This space is both a classroom and a laboratory for aerodynamics courses. Teaching and testing take place here, allowing students both a theoretical and hands-on approach to learning. This facility houses six wind tunnels equipped with multi-component force balances for aerodynamic measurement. Students also have access to hot wire anemometers, pressure scanners and various flow probes. Water tunnels are available for flow visualization, as well as a water table for approximating shock wave behavior. A blowdown supersonic wind tunnel – capable of Mach 3.5 – is also available for visualizing shock waves.

AXFAB - Aerospace Experimentation & Fabrication Building

The primary use of the Aerospace Experimentation and Fabrication Building – or as we call it, the AXFAB – is to provide students with the instruction, resources and equipment they will need to fabricate and assemble their various projects. At the heart of the AXFAB is a fully equipped machine shop outfitted with separate areas for welding, painting, machining and materials layout. The facility also has Computer Numerical Control (CNC) metal lathes and a computer-controlled milling machine. Along with the advanced equipment and tools available, the machine shop also has a qualified machinist on duty to provide students with instruction on the proper and safe use of equipment.

King Engineering & Technology Center

The King Engineering and Technology Center houses classrooms, labs and faculty offices for Embry-Riddle's Computer, Electrical and Software Engineering programs. This facility was originally built with funds donated to the school by King Avionics and has since been upgraded thanks to generous donations from Honeywell Inc. and Rockwell International. Whether it's in our Linear Circuits and Electronic Devices Lab, Communication Systems Lab or Power Lab, students will spend time here working in groups and taking a "design, build and test" approach to engineering.

Academic Complex 1

The Academic Complex, or AC1, contains a number of classrooms and faculty offices for the Colleges of Aviation, Arts and Sciences and Engineering. Several of our state-of-the-art labs in AC1 are also available to students from a variety of disciplines, such as the Engineering Design Lab, the Airway Science Lab and the Weather Center. In short, AC1 serves as a hub of academic activity on the Prescott Campus.

STEM Education Center

The STEM Education Center is an intersection of knowledge, technology and ideas for solving some of today's biggest challenges facing the industries we serve. Here, students focusing on science, technology, engineering and mathematics can gain hands-on experience that has real impact and access industry-grade labs, workshops and studios, including the Drs. Charles and Elizabeth Duva Robotics Lab, the 3D Printing Lab and the Jim and Linda Lee Planetarium – Arizona's only planetarium north of Phoenix. The facility also serves as an inspirational community outreach tool to promote STEM education and provide state-of-the-art lab space for students of all ages.

Air Traffic Control Lab

The Air Traffic Control (ATC) Lab features simulation software capable of mimicking the exact aircraft performance and characteristics found in real-life flight. Haas Commons

Directly across the street from the Interfaith Chapel is Haas Commons, which is home to the Housing Office and Health Services. At our free campus clinic, a doctor is present three days a week, while a nurse is present five days a week. Chiropractor, massage and counseling services are offered here as well. Haas Commons is also a pick-up and drop-off location for a shuttle service that runs from the airport in Phoenix to the city of Prescott.

Residence halls are a great way to make close and lasting friendships. Located near the AXFAB and Earhart's Dining Hall, Mingus Mountain houses first-year, upper-division and transfer students. These three-story buildings have three double-occupancy bedroom suites with a common living room, kitchenette and two bathrooms. All rooms and suites are also wired for high-speed Internet.

Thumb Butte Complex T2

Located near the soccer field and just a short walk from Earhart's Dining Hall and your classes, this three-story building offers some of the best views of campus and the surrounding area. Residents are able to take advantage of a fitness room, study areas and community lounges all within the building. The Thumb Butte Complex Suites, or T2, is located on the south end of campus and houses first-year students. Our Housing Office also organizes programs to support your social, residential and academic life, such as hall socials, intramural competitions and floor dinners.

Activity Center

Our Activity Center is home to Embry-Riddle's men's and women's basketball teams. At its maximum, the space can hold up to 2,000 people, or 1,500 during athletic events. It is also used for the annual Mile High Open hosted by the wrestling team. University events like the annual job fair, new student orientation, awards ceremonies and concerts are also held in this multipurpose building.

Thanks to recent upgrades, the Fitness Center has been transformed to include a new cardio and yoga room attached to the weight room. The fitness center plays a vital role in the health and well-being of our students, faculty and staff, and anyone with an EAGLEcard can work out for free. There are multiple squat racks, benches and strength machines in the weight room. In the new cardio room, you can find treadmills, elliptical bikes, stationary bikes, stair climbers, rowing machines and more. Our new yoga room is the perfect place for those who are looking for peace and quiet.

Rec Fields

Embry-Riddle offers a variety of recreational areas to match the interests of our vibrant student body. Three recreational fields can be found on campus and are available for use by students and faculty alike. Our brand-new, artificial-turf field is slightly smaller than regulation for an official soccer match but can be used for many different activities. Two additional grass fields that stretch to nearly 80,000 square feet combined can be used for anything from rugby to ROTC training. All fields can be reserved through SchedulER on ERNIE.

Sitting on a hill just behind the Fitness Center and Athletics Complex, Varsity Field provides spectacular views of the San Francisco Peaks and Granite Mountain. The field is home to the university's soccer and track programs and has been expanded to include new locker rooms and permanent shade structures that cover both benches and the official's table at midfield. It is also one of the only lit soccer complexes in the California Pacific Conference. Our quarter-mile track was resurfaced in 2019 and is available for student use 24 hours a day.

UAS Airfield & Rocket Test Cells

In the Propulsion Laboratory and Rocket Test Complex, students gain hands-on experience working with the tools and equipment that engineers in the thermal-fluid sciences use on a daily basis. Students have access to instrumentation for measuring temperature, pressure, velocity, mass flow rate and energy transport. Measurements are made with a state-of-the-art data acquisition and control system that has been specially developed for and is maintained by students.

Observatory

The Observatory Complex is a resource for both our Space Physics students and the active and diverse astronomy community in Prescott. Students use the observatory for the collection and analysis of astronomical data they will use in research projects for various degree requirements. Faculty also utilize the observatory for research and provide outreach to the community through public viewings, open houses and other events in conjunction with local educators and astronomy enthusiasts.

Robertson Aviation Safety Center

Harry Robertson Aircraft Accident Investigation Laboratory – or as we call it, the Crash Lab – is the most comprehensive collegiate facility of its kind and the only fully scenario-based accident investigation training facility available in North America. In addition to our aircraft fleet, the David S. and Harry L. Robertson Simulation Center houses more than a dozen sophisticated flight training devices, representing several of the aircraft in our fleet. The Simulation Center also includes a motion-based crosswind simulator used to teach students proper crosswind techniques and landings. At the Embry-Riddle Flight Department, you'll take to the air in your first week on campus – no waiting around here. Willow Lake

Willow Lake at Willow Lake Park is located just a few miles from downtown Prescott, Arizona, near Watson Lake. With a water surface area of about 400 acres, it is an ideal place for canoeing or kayaking, or for those who may just want to relax on the rocks of Granite Dells and enjoy breathtaking views and refreshing air. Other activities include boating, bird-watching, fishing, hiking and picnicking. Our students even have access to equipment available for rent.
