Welcome to El Camino College (or ECC), a leading South Bay, California-area community college and home of the Warriors. The college's name comes from the name of California's first road, "El Camino Real," or "Royal Road," and campus is located less than 20 miles from Downtown Los Angeles. Since 1946, ECC has offered affordable vocational training and preparation for transfer to four-year schools, ranking in the top 10 in the state of California for graduating students into major state universities. Join me now and explore just a few of the highlights of our bustling campus.

The Student Activities Center connects students with a calendar of campus events, discounts, and clubs and organizations. El Camino has cultural and religious clubs, honors clubs, sports clubs, arts clubs...you name it, and it's probably a club! (And if it's not, you can also start your very own club.) The Activities Center is also a place to kick back, hang out with friends, and meet new people.

The Administration Building is where key staff shapes the college's present and future. Several decision-makers hold office and meeting spaces in the building including the President, Vice Presidents and the Board of Trustees. The Foundation, Grants, and Public Relations offices are here, as well as the Institutional Research Team.

The El Camino Bookstore, located on the north side of campus, is where you'll find affordable textbooks, class and art supplies. You can also order books online to pick up or have delivered right to your door. While you're here you can grab a snack or beverage, and shop for El Camino apparel.

The Humanities Building serves as headquarters for the largest Division on campus. The Division offers up a wide array of courses including Academic Strategies, English, Foreign Languages and Journalism. One of the most popular tracks within the division – and the entire college – is English as a Second Language. Outside of class, Humanities students have access to the Writing Center, which features academic tutoring services and a dedicated computer lab.

The Schauerman Library serves as the central research hub of campus, housing a collection of more than 100,000 volumes, e-books and periodicals. ECC's main computer lab is the Library Media Technology Center (LMTC), located in the basement, and you can reserve a study room at the Circulation Desk. Academic tutoring is available in the Learning Resources Center on the upper level. On your way in and out of the Library, you can periodically catch Career Fairs and other campus events out on the lawn.

Marsee Auditorium is a 2,000-seat performance venue and the flagship facility of ECC's Center for the Arts. The auditorium hosts college events as well as world-class dancers, vocalists, musicians, theater groups and guest speakers. Marsee also hosts film series on Mondays. Most events are open to the college and community, and special events are specifically scheduled for area elementary, middle and high schools.

The Music Building is home to the ECC Music Department. Students interested in serious training can audition for an Applied Music program and get one-on-one instruction. Students can also join a band or ensemble and gain performance experience throughout the year. The music building houses classrooms, practice spaces, studios and the El Camino Music Library. Adjacent to the building is the 350-seat Campus Theater. Student musicians and vocalists have the opportunity to perform here, at the larger Marsee Auditorium, and also at the Robert Haag Recital Hall.

The Students Services Center is an important first stop for most El Camino students, whether they're recent high school graduates, Veterans, or adults looking to go back to school. The Admissions Office is here as well as the Counseling Office and Assessment/Testing Center, to help get you on the right track. You'll find the Financial Aid offices on the second floor, along with several programs designed to make college accessible to all: CARE, CalWORKS and EOPS. When you're ready to discuss a transfer to a four-year college or university, you can visit the staff at the Transfer Center.
