Ridley Student Complex

Ridley Student Center is one of the most popular spots on campus for students and faculty alike. It includes two buildings that are connected by a raised terrace to the student cafeteria and Commuter Center. Ridley Student Center also includes the student union and houses our student clubs and organizations, as well as space to gather as a community. This includes an auditorium, television lounge, campus store and the Office of Student Engagement. In addition, there are numerous dining options, such as the Viking Den, the Blue Room and our full-service restaurant.

Even though you may not live on campus, we want campus to feel like your second home. The Commuter Center provides an ADA-compliant recreational space for all students to gather and get to know one another. With six bowling lanes, a video game room, billiards, and a snack area, this space has become one of the most popular places on campus!

"The Complex" as its known on campus is the hub for physial activity at ECSU. This state-of-the-art building is home to both the Department of Physical Education and Health and Department of Athletics. It contains a 4,500 seat gymnasium, an Olympic-sized swimming pool, two trackball and handball courts, dance and exercise studios, a physical development laboratory, and more.

Wellness Center

ECSU's Melvyn N. and Rhonda Reed Riley Wellness Center inspires healthy lifestyles with inclusive recreation and innovative programming, embracing technology and fostering leadership development. The Wellness Center is part of Campus Recreation which provides programming at a variety of facilities and locations throughout campus. Williams Hall Gymnasium, Ridley Commuter Bowling Center, outdoor basketball courts, the Multipurpose Recreation Center and the R.L. Vaughan Center Swimming Pool are the other facilities that are available to our Viking community. Our students are always active. Indoor and outdoor activities and intramural sport are offered throughout the school year. There is never a dull moment at ECSU! There's something for everyone on our campus.

Accessibility & Affordability

Elizabeth City State University is a proud NC Promise campus committed to providing an affordable, high-quality education. Our community and family-like environment provides learning experiences that help you achieve your personal and professional goals. Taking advantage of NC Promise means you will pay tuition of just $500 per semester for in-state students and $2,500 per semester for out-of-state students. NC Promise dramatically reduces the expense of your college education, saving students at least $7,400 in-state and $44,000 out-of-state over their four years at ECSU. By lowering the overall cost of college, the NC Promise Tuition Plan will reduce the amount students need to borrow, resulting in less debt after graduation. NC Promise does not affect required fees and other costs of attendance. Important note: Tuition only represents a portion of the cost of attendance. Residential students also pay fees, as well as housing costs.

Unique in all of North Carolina, the Khan Planetarium's 60-seat, high-resolution Digistar Theater provides invaluable, educational, and entertaining resources for the entire region. G.R. Little Library is "the intellectual and technological heart of ECSU." With a physical collection in excess of 120,000 works and digitally accessible copies of books, journals, and periodicals from around the world, the library is a great place to do research or just explore your interests. To help facilitate that process, the is home to an auditorium, a local CATV studio, workspaces and study cubicles. In addition to the main collection, Little Library is also home to a children's literature collection, a vintage literature collection, a separate music library, and the University Archives. Our dedicated librarians continually add to and refine ECSU's collection in order to best meet the needs of our students, faculty, staff, and and the local community.

Named for ECSU's second president, John Henry Bias, this historic, three-story residence hall was built in 1938. Since then, it has been renovated and updated to maintain the traditional co-ed style residence hall, but with modern amenities. Each floor features double occupancy rooms, including the ECSU honors and the living and learning communities.

Dining

Bedell Hall Cafeteria provides full meal service, seven days a week. The dining hall features homestyle meals, popular ethnic cuisine, gourmet pasta, pizza, soup and salad, popular grill items, and a deli. This newly renovated all-you-care-to-eat facility is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, Monday through Friday and brunch and dinner on the weekends. Other options on campus are POD Express, Greens To Go and Tender, Love & Chicken. Soon, we will start construction on a new, state-of-art new dining facility.

Designated a military-friendly campus, ECSU supports veterans, active military members, spouses and their dependents.
