Student Commons Building

The Student Commons building houses large lecture halls, meeting rooms, study spaces, and a computer lab. Here, you'll find Lynx Central – your ultimate source for financial aid, billing, and enrollment. You can also access the Center for Identity and Inclusion, our hub for all cultural clubs and organizations, such as Black Student Services, Latinx, Asian, Native American, and Pacific Islander Student Associations, and Undocumented Peers Support. Undergraduate and Transfer Admissions office, International Affairs office, Academic Success & Advising Center, and the TRiO Student Support Services office, which supports first-generation, low-income, and students with disabilities can all be found in this building. Opened in the fall of 2021, City Heights is CU Denver's state-of-the-art student housing, dining, and Living, Learning, and Creating Community, located right in the heart of campus and only steps away from Denver's vibrant downtown. The Learning Commons brings together the entire CU Denver community in one prominent and easily accessible location - from peer mentoring and learning assistance, to First-Year Experiences and writing support services––all CU Denver students have access to helpful services and academic support under the same roof. With private workspaces and group study or meeting rooms, there are plenty of locations to get quality studying and projects done in this facility.

City Heights Residence Hall

Students can enjoy an exceptional, on-campus residential experience in the City Heights Residence Hall. Accommodating over 550 new students, this housing, dining, and learning complex provides students an alternative to finding a rental in downtown Denver. Students get to live and study in the heart of campus, only seconds away from classrooms, support services, and the very best city activities and cultural centers. Residents can choose either a double or triple room with moveable furniture, storage, and a personal workspace. The common areas and shared amenities on the residential floors provide a sense of place and pride in this home away from home.

Lola & Rob Salazar Student Wellness Center

The Lola and Rob Salazar Student Wellness Center was completed in 2018 and is the gym and recreation center for CU Denver students. This main floor space features large study rooms with TVs and lounge furniture – all reservable by students. For recreation activities beyond campus, The Outdoor Adventure desk provides a variety of rentable outdoor gear at a very low cost so you can explore all that Colorado offers. The Outdoor Adventure office also hosts a variety of exciting trips throughout the year for CU Denver students, so get out and start your adventure. Detour, the internationally acclaimed muralist and two-time CU Denver alumnus, has brought to life what makes our campus so special through a large scale art installation, each featuring a recent CU Denver graduate. These can be found in the courtyard between the Wellness Center and City Heights.

Salazar Student Wellness Center Second Floor

The wellness center has state-of-the art workout spaces and group fitness rooms, as well as three full-size indoor gym courts, a 38-foot-tall climbing and bouldering wall, and a six-lane pool with 25-yard lap lanes and a spa hot tub. In addition to physical wellness, our staff prioritizes personal wellness and mental health. Here, you'll also find a video gaming lounge, a food pantry, and special nap rooms so students can take a quick rest during the day or before exams.

Emergency Red Poles

Tivoli Quad

The largest greenspace on campus, the Tivoli Quad is one of CU Denver students' favorite spots. Here, you can relax and enjoy the views of the Tivoli Student Union, downtown Denver, and the Rocky Mountains. It's the perfect place to spread out a blanket for studying, enjoy lunch with a friend, or toss a frisbee in between classes. The Tivoli Quad is host to several CU Denver traditions like New Student Convocation, Festivals, Movie Nights – and of course, our graduation ceremony. There are plenty of green spaces on campus for you and friends to enjoy during one of Denver's 300 days of sunshine.

Tivoli Student Union

Originally built in 1870 as a brewery, the Tivoli Student Union now serves as a landmark and hub for Auraria campus life and services. This building is home to many essential resources including the bookstore, campus ID station, multiple conference, meeting, and hangout spaces, a popular coffee shop, food court, and more. You can still find old brewery artifacts on display throughout the historic building. In 2015, the Tivoli Brewery re-opened to the public and is a popular hangout spot. You'll also find offices for student life, student government, the LGBTQ+ student resource center, the counseling center, and the Phoenix Center – our support center for survivors of interpersonal violence.

Emmanuel Gallery

The Emmanuel Gallery is Denver's oldest religious structure, having served the historic Auraria neighborhood's Jewish population for over half a century. Now, the Emmanuel Gallery functions as a dynamic art gallery that is free for all CU Denver students. It showcases both student achievements and creative works from celebrated artists around the world. It is open throughout the year and hosts a variety of arts and cultural events for the wider Denver arts community.

Arts Building

The Arts Building houses our College of Arts and Media (CAM) [pronounced like cam, not spelled out]. CAM focuses on degree programs to prepare students for careers in visual arts and the music, film, and television industries. These programs not only support students in the creation of art, but guide them in learning how to successfully promote themselves as artists in a competitive industry. CAM is the only college in Colorado devoted exclusively to the arts. For those interested in music performance, there are also state-of-the-art recording studios in this building.

9th. St. Historic Park

As part of CU Denver's history, we honor the displacement of the former residents of the distinctly Hispanic Auraria community, Denver's oldest neighborhood, before the Auraria Higher Education Campus was built. Originally, it was the home of the Cheyenne, Arapahoe, Ute, and other indigenous people. We believe it is important to acknowledge the sacrifice and honor the legacy of families displaced when the Auraria Campus was built in the 1970s and the Indigenous Americans displaced before them. CU Denver is creating a special quad-institutional initiative to redevelop 9th Street Park into the geographic and emotional heart of Denver. The effort, which builds on the Displaced Aurarian Scholarship Program, will be dedicated to the history and future of the Hispanic and indigenous communities who were displaced and whose land was taken to create the Auraria Higher Education Center (AHEC).

Auraria Library

The Auraria Library is a central hub for study spaces, research and scholarly resources, computer labs and tech equipment, and more. Designed by acclaimed architect Helmut Jahn, it is also one of the city's most important architectural landmarks. The first floor of the Library is a space where students are encouraged to interact with each other, collaborate, and listen to music. The second floor is a designated quiet study space. All CU Denver students have access to digital copies of all library books – ranging from novels to medical journals to interlibrary loan books. Science Building

Students take classes in Chemistry, Biology, Math, Anthropology, and more in our Science building. This building is a shared Auraria campus space, with most CU Denver labs located on the second and third floors. You'll also find the Intermission Café in this building – a great place to grab coffee or a snack in between classes. North Classroom

Welcome to the North Classroom. This building houses the College of Engineering, Design and Computing, as well as the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. It is a central education hub on campus and one of the primary classroom facilities for CU Denver students. CU Denver Building

The CU Denver Building houses the College of Architecture and Planning (CAP), and many classrooms. CAP is the only school in Colorado that offers NAAB-accredited degrees in architecture, as well as degrees in landscape architecture and urban planning. This building houses multiple floors of architecture studios, providing each student a designated workspace for their projects. While envisioning the cities and structures of the future, students take inspiration from the breath-taking views of the Rocky Mountains and downtown Denver. Additionally in this building is our 3D Animation Studio through the College of Arts & Media.

Inworks

This is Inworks, an inviting home for creators, thinkers, designers, and makers on campus. Inworks is an innovation initiative that seeks to create solutions to some of the world's most challenging problems, and in the process nurture students for careers as life-long innovators. CU Denver students from many different majors can come to Inworks to collaborate, problem solve, and work together. At Inworks, students learn and teach through making, but they don't just make things – they make them matter.

Business School Building

Opened in 2012, this building houses the CU Denver Business school, which is accredited by AACSB, the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. It routinely places among the top 5% of business schools in the world. All Business School classes, programs, centers, faculty, and staff are located here, with many computer labs, study rooms, and business student advising offices available to help students succeed in their chosen career fields. The building recently underwent a $20 million renovation and features the J.P. Morgan Center for Commodities – an area that simulates a commodity trading environment.
