As a member of the Ivy League, we provide the facilities and programs that allow our 35 Division I varsity sports to compete on a national level. If you're interested in our club sports, intramurals, and other forms of recreation, we have plenty to show you in those sections as well. Recreation Overview

This is the beautiful Zimmerman Fitness Center, the largest recreational fitness center in the Ivy League. Use the panorama feature to check out the different workout areas, and you'll see why so many students love using it. Click on the images to see West Gym, where one can play pick-up basketball or job on the overhead track, and visit the pools when needing a swim. Dartmouth offers an incredible range of recreational opportunities, including more than 30 club sports and a wide range of fitness classes, and physical education courses, and intramural sports. Club Sports

Dartmouth offers more than 30 club sports on three different levels — recreational, competitive, and highly competitive — with more than 1,000 students involved. At the highest level, teams like rugby, fencing, figure skating, cycling, water polo and ultimate frisbee compete for regional and national club championships. This is Brophy Field, the rugby pitch, with the Corey Ford Clubhouse on the hillside. Intramurals

Dartmouth offers more than 20 intramural sports for students of all ability levels to participate in a variety of competitive recreational sports using league play and tournament formats. In fact, the intramural program is so popular that four different sports — basketball, ice hockey, softball and soccer — have up to 40 teams competing for campus championships. This is West Gym, where students play intramural basketball and volleyball, while tennis, flag football, soccer, softball, ice hockey, swimming and others take place elsewhere. PE & Fitness

Dartmouth requires three terms of physical and wellness education for graduation. There's a wide range of PE and wellness options available, including chances for expert instruction in lifetime sports such as tennis, golf, squash, skiing and sailing. Dartmouth also offers a wonderful menu of fitness classes, including zumba, pilates, dance, yoga, spinning, skating and many others. This is one of seven multi-purpose rooms, where you can see a yoga class taking place. This is the 10,000-square foot weight room in Floren Varsity House, where strength coaches design custom workouts for each team. Strength training is just one element of Dartmouth Peak Performance, or DP2, an innovative program that helps every student-athlete pursue comprehensive excellence. Baseball

Welcome to Red Rolfe Field at Biondi Park, the premier collegiate baseball facility in the Northeast. The baseball team has played on this site for over 100 years, but the stadium was built in 2009 to hold 650 spectators with additional bleacher seating along both foul lines for a total capacity of 2,000 fans. Not only are there batting cages and a spacious bullpen next to the home dugout on the third-base line as well as a pristine FieldTurf surface with a dirt mound, but there are also indoor cages at the nearby Graham Indoor Practice Facility along with ample space to conduct practices inside as needed.

Basketball

Leede Arena serves as the home of Dartmouth Basketball in the John Berry Sports Center. There is plenty of space to conduct practices with three full-length courts, as seen here with the bleachers retracted. But when the lights come on for the games, the arena has a capacity of 2,100 spectators with over 500 chair-back seats, not to mention numerous championship banners hanging from the rafters. The basketball offices are located across the hall from the arena with team rooms and a common area — the Chris Wielgus Lounge — each of which can be seen in the images below, as can the expansive weight room in Floren Varsity House.

Cross Country

There is a beautiful network of running trails in Hanover, and Pine Park serves as the home of the cross country course teams. The teams are proud to run on the mixed terrain of grass, dirt, gravel and woodchips, in the footsteps of so many Big Green Ivy League and national champions. Equestrian

This is the Dartmouth Riding Center at Morton Farm, located just six miles from the center of campus, home of the Big Green equestrian team, which recently joined the National Collegiate Equestrian Association. The farm occupies about 200 acres of land, mostly wooded, with winding trails throughout, while the riding center includes an indoor arena, two outdoor riding rings, three barns and multiple pastures to go with those miles of trails. Field Hockey

This is Chase AstroTurf Field, the home of Dartmouth field hockey, which features a smooth surface with a deep sub-base to facilitate excellent drainage and to provide shock absorbency, all of which is ideal for the sport. There is plenty of seating for the loyal fans along with a built-in watering system — including environmentally-friendly water reclamation features to reduce water usage and minimize the flow into the public storm water system. Football

Dartmouth's football facilities have undergone an incredible transformation over the last two decades, rating among the finest in the Northeast if not the country. This is historic Memorial Field, where the Big Green have earned the most Ivy League football championships in conference history. It has a beautiful FieldTurf surface, lights for night games, and an HD video scoreboard. The West Stands were renovated in 2015 to provide more comfortable seating for up to 11,000 spectators. The offices and locker room are located in the Floren Varsity House, as are the 10,000-square foot weight room and study lounge, which keep the players at their sharpest on and off the field.

Golf

The Dartmouth golf teams call Montcalm Golf Club their home. Located in the neighboring town of Enfield, Montcalm is one of the top courses in the region, tucked away on 380 acres on the side of Shaker Mountain in a serene setting with breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. The golf teams also have a practice facility located within a mile of campus, as well as an indoor practice area nestled into Leverone Field House, giving the student-athletes an opportunity to work on their game year-round. Ice Hockey

Thompson Arena is, simply put, a terrific place to play and watch hockey. A new cooling system was installed recently, providing a consistent surface on the ice while keeping the temperature for fans comfortable. Chair-back seating is utilized for all 3,500 seats, and the wide concourse can hold another 1,000 spectators. Numerous championship banners hang on the walls, as do pictures of former Dartmouth players in their Olympic and NHL uniforms, exemplifying the excellence and the tradition of Dartmouth Hockey. Lacrosse

This is beautiful Scully-Fahey Field, the proud home of Dartmouth Lacrosse, with a FieldTurf surface to more closely simulate grass while withstanding any elements Mother Nature may throw its way. The field features lights for night games and seating for nearly 2,000 fans with spacious locker rooms located right next door. The Graham Indoor Practice Facility also abuts the field, where the team can conduct practices on a 35,000-square foot FieldTurf field. Rowing

This is the boathouse, named in honor of the Friends of Dartmouth Rowing, the generous alumni group. The facility sits right on the banks of the beautiful Connecticut River, which forms the state line between New Hampshire and Vermont. A comprehensive expansion and renovation was completed in 2019, boosting the size of the building to nearly 19,000-square feet, featuring two state-of-the-art moving-water tanks and 30 indoor rowing machines. Rugby, Women's

Dartmouth Women's Rugby had a proud tradition as a club sport before transitioning to the varsity level in 2015, winning three national titles in the five-year span of 2018-22. The college is home to some of the best collegiate rugby facilities in the nation. The natural-grass playing surface of Brophy Field is adjoined by the stunning Corey Ford Rugby Clubhouse where one can find the locker rooms, training room, club room and spacious deck overlooking the pitch. Sailing

This is Mascoma Lake, the home of Dartmouth Sailing, just 12 miles from the center of campus. One of the most picturesque sites in college sailing, the team has 18 FJs and 18 z420s so it can train effectively for every competition. The Art Allen Boathouse contains the team’s locker rooms and a workshop, with new docks extending out into the lake. Skiing

Dartmouth Skiing has an incredible tradition of success, and the facilities are a big reason for it. This is the Dartmouth Skiway, the college’s own ski mountain, just 14 miles north off campus. Across the road is the stunning McLane Family Ski Lodge, which you can view the interior by clicking the 360 icon. Upgrades to our cross country trails at Oak Hill are just starting that will include snow-making ability, which will be ready just in time for Dartmouth to host the 2025 NCAA National Championships. Soccer

Burnham Field is one of the nicest natural grass college soccer stadiums in the country, where we draw some of the biggest and loudest crowds in the Ivy League. The locker rooms are located just behind the grandstand in the Reilly Pavilion, and our practice fields are only a few steps away, as is the Graham Indoor Practice Facility with a FieldTurf surface that allows the team to train no matter the weather outside. Softball

The Dartmouth Softball Park is the newest competition facility on campus and is considered the best college softball park in the Northeast. It has a terrific FieldTurf surface, spacious dugouts and batting cages, and 400 seats that were packed when the team won back-to-back Ivy League championships. The Graham Indoor Practice Facility is not far from the field, providing an ideal place to train — including batting cages — for when the weather doesn’t cooperate. Squash

The home for the Dartmouth squash teams is the John Berry Sports Center, which houses 10 beautiful international courts, including a fantastic center court with three glass walls. Nine courts were renovated in 2020-21 to become international ASB plaster courts, and cameras were added on each court to enable live streaming of all matches. With the teams always ranking among the Top 12 in the nation, these terrific facilities are a big reason for that success. Swimming & Diving

This is the proud home of Dartmouth Swimming and Diving, Karl Michael Pool, which has nine 25-yard lanes, two of which extend to a full 50-yards for training. The team also can utilize Spaulding Pool, which holds four more 25-yard lanes, as well as the endless pool, both of which are just a few steps away, to complete the sparkling complex. Tennis

This is the Alexis Boss Tennis Center and Gordon Pavilion, the indoor home of Dartmouth Tennis. Considered to be one of the best college tennis facilities in the nation, Boss features six tennis courts, a lounge, two public locker rooms, two team locker rooms, mezzanine seating and a meeting room. The teams also play on the outdoor Thompson Courts, located adjacent diagonally from the tennis center. Track & Field

The indoor home for Dartmouth Track and Field is Leverone Field House, a 91,800 square-foot concrete, high-arching facility that provides plenty of space for the men and women to train and compete. Recent renovations improved the lighting, sound system, ventilation and the surface itself. Dartmouth hosts several meets during the winter, including the Ivy League Championships on a regular basis. The teams also have an eight-lane track right outside the facility at Memorial Field for their outdoor meets.
