University Lawn

Welcome to the University Lawn. Throughout our tour, you will see almost all 176 acres of our campus, many of which are beautiful green spaces like the Lawn. This lawn is a favorite among students for lounging with friends, working outside, or just soaking up some sun. In the background you will see the Basilica, the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, which while not technically a part of campus will inspire your journey as a CatholicU student which begins on its steps with freshman convocation and ends with graduation.

Mullen Library

The John K. Mullen of Denver Library, housing 1.3 million volumes, is the sure foundation of academic study and discovery at CatholicU. Students can check out books, laptops, movies, board games, and use the Digital Art Lab here. The first floor has group study space, the librarian research desk and one of our two computer labs on campus. The Librarian research desk is a great resource that is open to all students. The second floor holds our largest group study area on campus and is home to many of our tutoring centers. We are part of the DC Consortium which shares resources with other libraries in DC at universities and archives.

Przybyla Center Patio

The Przybyla Center is the student union, the heart of campus life, and is home to many clubs and organizations. Students can dine in two dining halls, Murphy's pub, or grab a coffee at Starbucks. The Pryz also hosts the Office of Disability Support Services that works with any student that may have a disability. In addition, DSS provides a pre-orientation, learning specialist support and much more at no extra cost. The Pryz is also home to the Office of the Dean of Students, which helps support students with various academic, social and health concerns, by helping act as a network of support.

Centennial Village

This is Centennial Village, a popular residential community for our freshmen and sophomore students. Students have a three year on-campus residency requirement. The two main options for underclassmen are community style housing and suite style housing. Suite-style housing in CV has two double rooms connected by a jack-and-jill bathroom, forming a mini-suite of four students. Students can pick which style of housing they prefer as part of room selection. Roommate selection is done through a lifestyle survey that matches students with others who match their personality. Students are able to request their own roommates as well! Resident assistants are in every hall, and are a great resource for helping students bond.

Brookland Metro Stop

Catholic University has its very own Metro Stop which provides our students easy access to one of the most important and dynamic cities in the world. It's the Brookland CUA stop on the historic Redline, just a few stops away from Union Station, Chinatown, the Capitol Building, and the U.S. Supreme Court. Our students use this convenient and eco-friendly mode of transport to take full advantage of the nations's capital as they head into the city for internships, jobs, a fun day downtown, a picnic on the National Mall, or to explore the surrounding neighborhoods full of life and culture.

Maloney Hall- Business

Maloney Hall is home to the Busch School of Business- and a lot of entrepreneurial creativity helped design the building. Classroom spaces in Maloney Hall include u-shaped case study and active learning classrooms, designed so that all students are at eye level with the professor. The business school offers two undergraduate degrees in eight business specializations plus an Exploratory/Undecided pathway. This gives students who have not decided on a specilization till the end of their sophomore year to declare their official major. The Busch School is committed to forming virtuous business leaders who become a force for good.

Gowan Hall- Nursing

Gowan Hall is home to the Conway School of Nursing, where heroes are formed. Our program is direct-entry, so any student who has an interest in nursing should apply directly. This ensures you'll be on track to graduate and complete all of your clinincal hours. Our nursing school has partnerships with all of the major hospitals in the DC area. Be sure to check out our state of the art simulation lab video on this stop. We have also recieved funds to build a brand new building with state of the art labs, classrooms, and study spaces. This building is set to open in spring of 2024.

Pangborn Hall- Engineering

Pangborn Hall is home to the School of Engineering which takes an innovative, hands-on approach as it prepares future problem solvers for fulfilling careers. The school offers programs leading to a bachelor of engineering in biomedical, civil, electrical, environmental, and mechanical engineering, and a degree in computer science. There is also an Engineering Undecided/Exploratory pathway for those students who may not have had a chance to explore differrent specilizations within engineering. Catholic U also offers a popular dual degree program with a School of Architecture and Planning.

Crough Center for Architecture

The Crough Center houses our school of Architecture and Planning, where the next generation of architects and planners learns how to design and build a better, more beautiful, and more sustainable built-environment. There are three main programs in the school, including a dual degree program with Engineering. The school of Architecture is one of only twenty-two programs in the country that offer the IPAL program, which is an expedited pathway to architectural licensure.

McMahon Hall is home to our School of Arts & Sciences, the First-Year Experience program, Global Education & CUAbroad, and the Honors Program. Remarkably, 30-40% of our students study abroad. The University's flagship program is in Rome, but there are many other programs hosted all over the world, some specific to majors and some open to anyone. Some even include internships that you can complete abroad!

Garvey Hall

Garvey hall is the new dining commons opening this fall. Located at the heart of campus, it connects the center of residential life with the center of student life and is a prime example of Catholic U's committment to constantly improving the student experience. Our Center for Academic and Career Success is housed here too. CACS - provides guidance, resources and support that'll lead you to academic and career success. Whether you need help forming an academic plan, exploring a career, or connecting with employers, our integrated advising approach provides individual support from day one of your career at CatholicU.

Kane Health Center

The Kane Health and Fitness Center is the main health center on campus. Located between Centennial Village and our North Neighborhood, it is easily accessable to all of our on campus residents. Our Student Health Services has both a physician and nurse practitioner on staff and on call 24/7. Students can walk in, or make an appointment if they have any medical needs. The Kane Fitness Center, one of two on campus, has cardio equipment, free weights and offers free zumba, spin, and yoga classes so you can stay in shape while you pursue your studies.

North Neighborhood 2

Our second cluster of resident halls is collectivelly called North Neighborhood 2 and is largely community style housing. Community style housing features mostly double rooms branching off a hallway with a large, communal bathroom that is shared by the floor. The hallways and bathrooms are cleaned seven days a week by housing staff. Regan, Ryan, Flather and most of Gibbons are built in this style. The other buildings in this neighborhood, Millennium North, Millennium South, and Opus, are sophomore and upperclassman apartment style residence halls.

O'Boyle Hall

O'Boyle Hall is home to our Psychology and English Departments. CatholicU offers both a Bachelors of Arts and a Bachelors of Science in Psychology along with a Psychological and Brain Sciences Major. The English department offers a Bachelors of Arts in English as well as Joint Programs with Education. O'Boyle is also home to our Counseling Center which offers 45 free sessions with licensed therapists for each student, should they need the support. There are also group therapy options which have no limit for participation.

Hartke Theater

Hartke Theater complex is a LORT-level theater that can seat 590 patrons. Within Hartke there are four performance spaces; Hartke Theatre, The Hartke Studio, the Callan Theatre, and the Lab Theatre. The Benjamin T. Rome School of Music, Drama, and Art - CatholicU's newest school and the only school of its type in Washington, DC - hosts over 200 performances per year here. The building also houses dedicated scene and custume shops for our students to utilize.

Ward Hall

Ward Hall houses the Benjamin T. Rome School of Music, Drama and Art. The Rome School was founded as the only school of its kind in Washington, D.C. and enjoys a tremendous reputation in DC and beyond. Ward Hall has classrooms, practice rooms, rehearsal halls, a recording studio, a dance studio, a library, instrument and equipment storage, and a recital hall. You do not have to be a student in the Rome School of Music, Drama, and Art to audition for any of the shows or music groups that perform here and you don't have to be in the Rome School to use any of the resources found here.

Caldwell Hall

Caldwell hall is home to the School of Theology and Religious Studies, School of Canon Law, and the Office of Campus Ministry. Campus ministry supports the university's vibrant faith and ministry programs, including Resident Ministers, campus masses, Gratia Plena, and Habitat for Humanity, to name just a few! At CatholicU we celebrate our Catholic identity and ensure that students have ample opportunities to grow in their faith. While 80% of our students are Catholic, we welcome students of all faith traditions and all who seek to deepen their relationship with God and others in friendship and love.

Angels Unawares

Angels Unawares was cast at the request of Pope Francis as a memorial to the experience of migrants and refugees throughout history and as a reminder of our Christian calling. The original sits in Saint Peter's Square at the Vatican in Rome. Currently, this is the only replica in the world. It connects us to Rome and thus the Universal Church. Inspired by Hebrews 13:2 which states, "Be welcoming to strangers, many have entertained angels unawares,"" the work reminds CatholicU of its calling to welcome and educate all people for a higher purpose, to love God and our Neighbor, to welcome the downtrodden and the stranger, to become saints, to love.

Monroe Street Market

On the south end of campus is Monroe Street Market, which is a joint project between the University and private developers. Many upperclassmen and university staff call Monroe Street Market home. The bustling mixed-use development has revitalized the Brookland neighborhood. It is home to several restaurants including Busboys & Poets, Chipotle, Potbelly, & pizza, BGR, Brookland Pint, Tropical Smoothie Cafe, and Starbucks Reserve. Monroe Street Market is also home to independent artist studios, the university bookstore,a Saturday Farmers Market, and more!
