Welcome to California State University, Fullerton, one of twenty-three schools in the California State University system. With more than 36,000 students, Cal State Fullerton, as it is often referred to, has one of the largest enrollments of universities in the state and resides on 236 acres just forty minutes east of Los Angeles. Cal State Fullerton consists of eight colleges: Arts, Business and Economics, Communications, Education, Engineering and Computer Science, Health and Human Development, Humanities and Social Sciences, and Natural Sciences and Mathematics.

Becker Amphitheater

Students can take advantage of the great southern California weather by attending a variety of events and performances at the Becker Amphitheater. The most popular event series is "Wednesday Concerts at the Becker," an hour of free music beginning at noon and organized by ASI Productions, a student organization that serves the entertainment needs of the campus. Also held here are student government functions, fashion shows, and fraternity and sorority events.

Bookstore

Once you have signed up for the semester's courses, you will head here to the bookstore so that you're prepared for the first days of school. The university bookstore is part of the Titan Shops Center, a complex where you can also find a print and copy center, convenience store, the Titan gear store, computer and tech shop, bank, and a coffee shop. Most students purchase textbooks for classes here or through its associated Amazon store, but for those looking for a more thrifty option, you can also rent books or buy digital copies at the bookstore.

Clayes Performing Arts Center

Adjacent to the Visual Arts Complex is the complementary Clayes Performing Arts Center, a facility for the theatre, dance, and music departments and their related performances and events. Housed within this large acclaimed Center are several venues: the Meng Concert Hall, known for its superior acoustics and utilized by the Music Department and musicians; the Young Theatre, where most of the Department of Theatre & Dance productions are held, with a seating capacity of 250; and the Hallberg Theatre, a traditional black box-style theatre utilized for experimental dramatic works.

Commons

The Commons is a large green space outlined by the Bookstore, Titan Gymnasium, Pollak Library, and the Clayes Performing Arts Center, and it's diagonal from the other substantial green space on campus, the Quad. The campus bike path and a large walkway cut through the Commons and you may run across a tented clothing sale as well as many students hanging out with friends, studying, or playing Frisbee.

McCarthy Hall

Our last stop is here at McCarthy Hall, which serves several academic purposes. It houses the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, which is broken down into the Biology, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, and Science Education departments. McCarthy Hall is also home to the office of Graduate Studies, where students can find information on more than 40 Master's degree programs, in departments such as Business, Education, Public Health, and Social Work. In addition to the above, there is a computer lab on the lower level equipped with 62 workstations as well as the Writing Center for writing assistance.

Pollak Library

The modern, futuristic Pollak Library is home to more than 1.2 million books, 8,000 films, 5,000 e-books that can be accessed online, and an interlibrary loan system that allows students to check out books from libraries off-campus The Pollak Library is fortunate to possess many Special Collections, including that of Philip K. Dick, American Trade Bindings, Fine Press Printing, and Dylan Thomas, just to name a few.

Quad

Situated between the Clayes Performing Arts Center and the Humanities- Social Sciences building, the Quad is a large outdoor space that plays host to career fairs, student organization events, as well as cultural offerings. Some of these past events have included "Sustainable Life: Pathways to Our Future," which was Cal State's Earth Day event, the Lunar New Year Festival, and Dia de Los Muertos, the Mexican celebration featuring decorated altars, mariachi performances, dancing, and sugar skull-making.

Student Rec Center

One of the newest buildings on campus, the Student Rec Center opened in 2008, a $40-million project that brought an impressive 95,000-square-feet of recreational space for many purposes. There is an extensive array of fitness classes like Hip Hop dance, Flow Yoga, Kickboxing, and Pilates. The Rec Center also boasts one of the biggest cardio-weight rooms on a west coast university campus, with 60 cardio machines and 80 strength machines. Additional features include gymnasiums large enough for three basketball or volleyball courts, an indoor running track, a rock climbing wall, multiple swimming pools, and racquetball courts.

Titan Student Union

The Titan Student Union brings students together for activities and events when not in the classroom. A food court draws many in with offerings such as sandwiches, Chinese, burritos, pizza, and organic fare. The Garden Café in particular is a lush, outdoor oasis, with fountains and umbrella-covered tables where Italian food makes up the menu. Also found in the Titan Student Union are gallery exhibits curated by the Arts Program, Discount Ticket Sales to nearby attractions, an Information & Services desk for answering any and all questions about Cal State Fullerton, a bowling alley, and billiards tables.

Visual Arts

The Visual Arts Complex is comprised of the Visual Arts Department, the College of the Arts, and four art galleries. The department offers a B.A. in the arts, a B.F.A, as well as an M.F.A, and courses can be taken in art history, ceramics, crafts, photography, and graphic design. Most of Cal State Fullerton's more than thirty outdoor sculptures are located around the Complex, making for quite the visual display before you even enter the building. If you are interested in but not necessarily majoring in the arts, throughout the year a variety of gallery shows are exhibited such as, "Steampunk: the Beginning," "Terra Cotta Living," and work from faculty members in both solo and group shows.
