Welcome to Concordia University Texas. As Austin's leading Christian university, we empower our students to find their vocational calling, become compassionate leaders, and build meaningful careers through our engaging curriculum focusing on student success. Here, we prepare and empower our students to become leaders who make a worthwhile and lasting difference. Our Welcome Center is the first building you'll encounter when you step foot on campus. At the heart of the Welcome Center is the University's Chapel, which is also home to the Campus Ministry team and counseling services. Our licensed professional counselor services are included in the cost of your tuition. Our campus ministry team is also always available for counseling through a Christian lens as well. We invite you to explore the rest of campus and see what makes Concordia University Texas a special place.

The Chapel

At Concordia Texas, Christ is honored and all are welcome. We have been serving the city of Austin and leading in Christian education for nearly 100 years. Though not all of our students share our Christian faith, each individual is valued, included and cared for on our campus. Our Campus Ministry equips students to find their identity, meaning and purpose from a faith lens. We have campus pastors and ministers who serve on our Campus Ministry team, leading mission trips across the world. Students can also participate in a student-led worship service on Thursday evening at 9pm called Refuge.

Student Center

At Concordia Texas, the community you build is just as important as the skills you learn in the classroom. With more than 25 clubs and organizations, including esports, student ministry, intramural sports and more, you're sure to find your niche here. Our student center is where you can study, hang out with friends and enjoy Starbucks coffee. We also host regular events here, such as our monthly Tornado Tuesday where students can fuel up with free snacks.

Campus Bookstore

You'll find everything you need to start the year off right at the Concordia Texas Bookstore. Open Monday through Friday during the school year, the bookstore sells the newest Concordia Texas gear and school supplies. Our Tornado Textbook Program guarantees that you'll have your books for the first day of class, at no additional cost. No hassles, no worries.

Fine Arts

Our Fine Arts program serves the campus and local communities by offering opportunities to develop artistic expression, participate in world-class artistry, and share their passion for the arts with our communities and the world. Within the School of Fine Arts, majors and non-majors can take music lessons or participate in one of our many ensemble and choral groups. In our Theatre Department, students can participate in or attend our shows performed each semester in our Black Box Theatre.

The Purple Rock Courtyard

The Purple Rock Courtyard is where you can connect with friends and study. This space is also used for events and activities. The sails provide shade in the hot Austin weather. The purple-painted rock in the center of the garden is a part of university legend. At the historic downtown campus, students once used the purple rock to blockade the doors of a building where they were supposed to take a test, delaying the exam for 24 hours. The infamous rock became a monument for students to paint. The Purple Rock Courtyard is a visual representation of Concordia Texas's past, present, and future.

As a Tornado, you'll be engaged in discussion-based lectures and hands-on learning, while taking advantage of opportunities for real-world experiences through internships, study abroad and class field trips. We offer more than 20 areas of study across our seven subject-based colleges and schools. With a student-to-faculty ratio of 15-to-one, you'll get the opportunity to interact with your professors on a personal level. Concordia Texas is also proud to be a Hispanic-Serving Institution and we strive to provide our students with an education that helps you fulfill all your potential.

The Pier and Nature Preserve

The Concordia Texas campus is located on 250 acres of protected nature preserve. This allows for an outdoor laboratory so you can engage with the surrounding nature. The pier offers one of the best views on campus as well as a quiet place for studying or relaxing in nature. Campus traditions and events, such as the Christmas Tree Lighting and outdoor chapel services, are held at this scenic spot. Also be sure to check out Lake Travis, just four miles east of campus.

At Concordia Texas, we offer exciting programs in natural and applied sciences and health sciences. Our campus features a nature preserve that serves as an outdoor classroom where you'll gain firsthand knowledge and practical experience in the beautiful hills of Northwest Austin. Nursing

Our nursing program is designed to promote high-quality, secure patient and client care across diverse healthcare settings. Our Christ-centered approach to teaching means we equip students with both practical and soft skills to become caring and compassionate nursing leaders. Our top-rated program offers three tracks: a traditional BSN, BSN Direct Entry and Accelerated BSN. Our tight-knit community of peers and faculty members offer assistance whenever needed, so that students graduate as successful health care professionals.

Campus Traditions (The Cruciform)

The Cruciform reminds us of our greatest community value, to be Christ-centered as we learn, work, and interact with one another every day. The Cruciform is in the shape of CLC, which is a nod to when the university was Concordia Lutheran College. The Cruciform sat in front of Kilian Hall at the historic campus and now stands prominently near the bridge, joining the north and south parts of campus. Designed by former Concordia Texas president, Reverend Dr. Ray Martens, the Cruciform stands as a symbol of the University's rich history as a Lutheran institution and its core values.

Dining

Concordia Texas's dining hall features a comprehensive menu for all diets and palates. If you live on campus, the meal plan is part of your housing package. For commuter students, our plan provides 5 meals per week. Our dining hall is open weekdays for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Weekends we serve brunch and dinner. At every meal, we offer an all-you-can-eat buffet as well as staples like pizza, salads, burgers and a daily homemade meal. If you're in a rush, we provide to-go boxes so you can enjoy your meal wherever and whenever you want.

Student Development Center

In our Student Development Center, we offer personal study rooms for group study or to prepare for an exam. The Office of Career Services, Tornado Print & Mail and Student Life offices are also housed in the Student Development Center. Our team is here to support you every step of the way and help develop your future career.

Residence Life (Regents Hall)

Our residence life encourages students to become active members of their communities through values of diversity, kindness, creativity, and growth. Regents Hall is our newest residence hall and features luxury-style living with a high-tech mail center, community kitchen, common areas and reflection rooms, along with luxury hardwood flooring floor plans in every room. Regents Hall offers single and double rooms.

Amphitheater

Students love spending time at our amphitheater. The large, open space offers a wonderful view of the nature preserve and plenty of outdoor seating for studying, dining, or hanging out with friends. Often our Residence Life activities are hosted here. You'll also find an outdoor grill used for cookouts and other student events.

Athletics

Woosh there it is! Show off your Purple & Gold as you cheer on the Concordia Texas Tornados on the field and on the court. Plus, all home games are free for students. Concordia Texas Athletics participates in NCAA Division III athletics and features over 15 Men's and Women's athletic teams. With more than 300 student-athletes, we provide a positive environment that nurtures the personal, spiritual and physical growth of our athletics community.

Safety and Security

The Front Gate is the first stop when you visit campus. The building, designed to resemble Birkmann Chapel from Concordia Texas's historic downtown campus, is topped with a cross. Its prominent display serves as a reminder that Concordia Texas is a place where Christ is honored, and all are welcome. When visiting, each guest must check in at the front gate upon arrival. We offer 24/7 security. Our CTX Safety App allows students to request escorts, virtual walk homes, and set emergency contacts to ensure our students feel safe on campus. You can also open the gate at any time with your student ID card.

Experiential Learning (Luther Park)

Here at Concordia Texas, we prioritize experiential learning as a crucial component of education. As a Tornado, you'll get real-world experience through internships, study abroad and mission trips. 100 percent of our programs require experiential learning. And our Student Ministry & Go Missions offer the chance to grow spiritually as well as intellectually. Students have served on domestic and international trips in places like Alaska, Cambodia, New York, Panama and more.

Austin

Whether it's music, the arts, great food, or sporting events, Austin has everything you could want in a city. Located approximately 20 miles from downtown Austin, Concordia University Texas is close enough for students to visit the city on the weekends, while maintaining a close-knit community on our 435-acre campus in the Texas Hill Country. When you're done with the hustle and bustle of city life, you can retreat back to campus to unwind.
