Like you, Honors College students are bright, highly motivated, intellectually curious, and eager for new challenges and experiences. Through the Honors College, they have unique opportunities that can take their college experiences to a different level.
For example, honors students have access to faculty-led research as early as their freshman year. By the time they graduate, nearly half of them have presented their work at a professional or academic conference, and close to one-fifth have already published their research.
They use the Honors College HUB to find exclusive research, internships, jobs and volunteer opportunities.
Plus, there are scholarship awards reserved specially for Honors College students.
Exceptional Learning Community

Our community knows that good ideas come from everywhere. And if you combine the best of the liberal arts with market demands, you can create solutions that have a real impact on society.
That's why we were the first college in the country to offer an undergraduate degree in data science.
We have an entire school dedicated to the study of languages, cultures and world affairs. The global economy is real. And you'll soon be a part of it.
We also offer dozens of unique interdisciplinary minors such as crime, law and society, environmental and sustainability studies, and medical humanities.
At the College of Charleston, you can customize your academic choices and take a step toward living a purposeful life.
We Are Entrepreneurs
Tour stop audio transcript
If entrepreneurs use skills and initiative to anticipate needs and bring good, new ideas to market, then that defines many College of Charleston students.
The Center for Entrepreneurship holds several competitions throughout the year. Students showcase their entrepreneurship skills and win REAL money.
For example, our students showcased their promising business ideas in a competition for $10,000 in cash prizes during Global Entrepreneurship Week. And female students from all academic disciplines were invited to enter the Gender Equality Pitch Competition.
Another way that entrepreneurship is woven into the fabric of the student experience is through the Entrepreneurship Living Learning Community. The object of the E-LLC , which is available to first-year students in the Honors College, is to help students achieve their dreams!
Sciences and Math
Tour stop audio transcript
There's always going to be a demand for STEM graduates. The sciences, technology, engineering and math are the principle drivers of innovation. We wouldn't have smart phones, streaming services and the web without them. People are alive and well today because of scientific advances in the health field. Marketing and advertising professionals rely on data. And archaeologists use GIS mapping in their studies of ancient civilizations.
The School of Sciences and Mathematics programs and opportunities are distinctive. Faculty design engineering programs with input from local industry leaders. A physics professor and his students discovered a new extrasolar planet. Alumni in medicine, synthetic genomics and land management support our students by helping to create valuable experiential learning opportunities.
If you're interested in STEM, check us out.

We offer a B.A. in public health that leads to careers in health policy and medical humanities, and B.S. in public health for students who want a strong science background in preparation for a career in epidemiology or a pathway to the allied health professions.
You can see why U.S. News & World Report ranks College of Charleston the second-most innovative school in the South.
The Arts

Whether you take one class or complete a major, you'll hone professional skills such as time management, collaboration, research, problem-solving and public speaking.

Global Connections

Employers put a high premium on global and cultural fluency. Like the College of Charleston, businesses understand that diverse and multicultural teams typically perform better and are more creative, which is why they want to hire employees who have had that experience.
At the College, you'll be prepared to enter a global marketplace as a responsible, engaged world citizen who can understand and communicate with individuals from other cultures.
You can study abroad through one of the more than 85 programs. Or, you can work on real-world international challenges and learn about other cultures by taking a globally connected course. An example is a history of Israel course that linked our students with a school in Israel. Conversations centered on Israeli culture, politics and the experience of growing up in Israel.

For more than 250 years, the College of Charleston has been a leader in quality education, student life and affordability. As an institution, we continue to learn from our past and value our traditions. But our focus is on the future – and on the transformation of our students, our communities and society as a whole.
At the College you'll be exposed to a range of ideas and disciplines. You'll come to understand that all knowledge is connected. At the end of your journey, you can look forward to pursuing a successful, fulfilling career – and enriching lives.
Big Ideas/Small Classes

One of the unique things about the College of Charleston is that it feels like a small college, yet you have all the advantages of a mid-sized, urban university.
You'll work with exceptional professors who are not only involved with their own research projects, but who love to teach. And they will become mentors, who will help you succeed in the classroom and continue to be a resource after you graduate.
Because so many people at the College will be invested in your success, it'll be easy for you to find experiential learning opportunities – like internships and service learning – and networking opportunities with industry leaders.
You'll even be able to collaborate with faculty on undergraduate research and independent study projects.
Charleston Is Our Campus

When it comes to locations, it would be tough to find a better one! Because the blurred lines between our campus and the city mean that Charleston will serve as your living-learning laboratory.
The city – which is nicknamed Silicon Harbor – is home to more than 400 tech companies.
The Medical University of South Carolina is a short walk from campus. If you're interested in allied health fields, you might find research and internship opportunities at MUSC.
The area is also home to businesses in the aerospace, automotive, logistics, software and biotech industries. And, of course, hospitality and tourism.
Some of the companies where our students intern and get jobs include Boeing, Google, Mercedes-Benz Vans and Volvo.
