The Security Operations Center, or SOC, is the home of Cisco’s Active Threat Analytics service, which combines deep expertise, leading threat intelligence, cutting-edge technology, and advanced analytics into a unified and efficient process for detecting and managing threats with great speed, accuracy, and focus. This is where our highly skilled information security analysts use state-of-the-art tools to hunt down and eradicate cyberattacks threatening governments, businesses, and consumers across the globe.

Active Threat Analytics analysts bring together two rare and highly specialized skill sets: information security expertise and data science prowess. With an estimated shortage of one million information security professionals, this combination of skills is in short supply and high demand. ATA analysts monitor customer networks around the clock for anomalous activity. When analysts detect abnormal activity, they use a variety of data science techniques to investigate the incident. This way, they can discern true threats from false positives with a high degree of accuracy.

The Active Threat Analytics detection process incorporates leading threat intelligence from a variety of important proprietary, private, and public sources. Most notably, ATA personnel maintain strong communication with Cisco’s Talos Security Intelligence and Research Group, drawing on Talos’ intelligence to inform real-time monitoring efforts and notifying Talos of new threats and trends discovered in the SOC. Cisco’s global network of Security Operations Centers also use Cisco TelePresence to stay connected, share information, and analyze macro-trends across our worldwide customer base. The breadth and depth of Cisco’s threat intelligence equip our analysts to find any threat, anywhere, any time.
