Dana Moher-Faria Science and Mathematics Center

The Dana Mohler-Faria Science and Mathematics Center features the Bartlett College of Science and Mathematics, natural science gardens, an observatory with a 160-foot dome, a multi-story atrium for study and socializing, auditorium, classrooms, and research laboratories well stocked with $7.1 million of equipment. BSU's newest lab is a cutting-edge facility for our new Photonics and Optical Engineering program featuring lasers for optical cooling and trapping of atoms, optical tweezers for cancer research, and advanced fiber optics, nonlinear and quantum optics.

University Park

At the center of BSU's University Park, stands a statue of Martin Richard, the youngest victim of the Boston Marathon bombings in 2013, and son of BSU graduates Bill, '93, and Denise, '93, Richard. Martin's message of peace and love guide the work of BSU's Institute for Social Justice, which is named in his honor. The Martin Richard Institute works to educate and develop the skills of the campus community to actualize change and to ensure that students have equal access to opportunities and resources and freedom from oppression.

The BSU campus features 11 residence halls, state-of-the-art academic and athletic facilities, three dining halls, a professionally staffed health and wellness center and an MBTA Commuter Rail stop that will take you into downtown Boston. The Health and Wellness Center, located on the ground floor of Weygand Hall, offers students a range of services and support. All students are welcome to use the free services offered by the center including walk-in appointments, evaluation and treatment of injuries, physical exams, in person mental health counseling, and self-guided apps designed to help you manage your mental wellbeing.

Athletics and Recreation

The majority of BSU's 22 NCAA Division III teams and 10 club sports teams use the Swenson Athletic Complex, the hub for outdoor sporting events that includes an Olympic-grade, nine-lane track and NCAA-grade football field; as well as Alumni Park, a natural grass ballpark. Basketball, volleyball, badminton and tennis, as well as a number of indoor events are staged in the multipurpose gymnasium at the Tinsley Center, which also features the Thornburg Fitness Center, a 9,000-square-foot, full-use facility with the most cutting-edge equipment on the market. Across campus, the Kelly Gymnasium boasts a standard-sized competition swimming pool, two gymnasium spaces, and a weight-room.

Founded in 1840 by Horace Mann, the father of public higher education in the nation with the sole purpose of teacher preparation, the education of teachers remains at the core of the educational mission of Bridgewater State University. Today, the college offers a full range of undergraduate degree programs and prepares more teachers than any other university - public or private - in Massachusetts. Most of the classroom work is delivered in Hart and Burnell halls, where education majors at BSU learn the latest educational pedagogy and use of technology in the classroom.

College of Graduate Studies

In addition to the benefits of attending BSU as an undergraduate, you'll gain access to 35 graduate degrees, certificate programs and 32 licensure programs in full-time or part-time formats, all designed to increase your earning potential and give you a competitive edge. Undergraduates can take up to two classes before applying to graduate school, and several of our programs offer accelerated admissions, enabling you to continue your studies from undergraduate to graduate. A Bridgewater graduate education is an exceptional value, as tuition is the same for both in-state and out-of-state students. West Campus

West Campus is located immediately off the downtown Bridgewater business center and features the most historic, traditional-style university campus found anywhere in New England. With three residence halls for first-time and transfer students, two dining options, the student center, academic classrooms and faculty offices, West Campus is one of the hubs of student activity on BSU's 278-acre campus. West Campus is home to Boyden Hall, the cornerstone building of the university, which houses general-purpose classrooms, student accounts, the registrar's office, student affairs and student employment in addition to the Horace Mann Auditorium.

Cutting Edge Programs

BSU programs are often developed to meet the needs of the region. A most recent example is the addition of the university's first engineering program in Photonics and Optical Engineering. The undergraduate program is designed to prepare students for the next wave in technology and for jobs in photonics and related industries in Massachusetts and throughout the country. Another new program on the horizon will focus on cybersecurity, also a rapidly growing field of the future.

Career Services at Bridgewater State University offers students and alumni a range of opportunities to get into the career track of their choice. Career Services stages the largest job and internship fair in the region twice a year, attracting top companies and non-profits from across the state. Coupled with specialized job fairs in education and STEM, career panels in a variety of fields, mocktail events to learn the art of networking, and resumé preparation, it's no wonder that within a year of graduation more than three-quarters of BSU grads are working in a career related to their major.
